  96. Bushi of the Akodo School hone their fury until it is as precise as a blade. You may either ignore the portion of an opponent's Armor TN derived from Armor, or gain a Free Raise when attacking. (You do not ignore Reduction from the Armor when choosing the first option.) Also, you gain a bonus of +1k0 to the total of all attack rolls on your first melee attack against an opponent in a skirmish, or against any opponent who has declared a Raise on an attack against you since your last turn. You add only a total of 1k0 for an enemy who Raises against you, no matter how many times they actually Raised.

  162. BACKSTORY:
  163. Nobunao and his family were unremarkable for a long time. His father, Akodo Shion, was a small landholder with a quiet estate deep within the Akodo plain. Nobunao and his younger sister Mayuko were enrolled in the Akodo War College as their dojo at the right time and seemed as though they would easily follow their father's example as small landholders and samurai of the Lion. Fate had other plans. When Nobunao was 10, his father told him that he and his retainers were departing for Otosan Uchi to "do the right thing for the Empire." Nobunao didn't understand what that meant until two months later, when Shogunate forces wearing the Doji Mon occupied the estate bloodlessly. Confined to his house, Nobunao understood that his father had rebelled, and soon he and his mother and sister would be forced to commit seppuku. Fate twisted again two weeks later, when the Doji quietly left and his Uncle, Daichi's troops moved in. Daichi told them that they had been cleared of suspicion for supporting his father's treason against the Shogunate, and he would be taking care of them. The lands were added to his own, and Daichi stepped into the role of father and sponsor for Nobunao and Mayu. As he got older, he began to realize that the story of them being "cleared of suspicion" was unlikely to be true, and that something else had happened that he could not begin to understand. He flung himself into his training, realizing that even if some bargain had been struck, he would need to be either useful enough to the powers that be to keep his family alive, or strong enough to fight them and win. And now as his gempukku approaches, Daichi has used his influence to sponsor his attendance at the Topaz Championship. The future awaits.
