  1. The Venetian Chronicles: Empathetic Devil
  2.
  3. Yuuko: (fumbling with the camera before mounting it on a tripod. Before adjusting the focus on the camera and Clearing her throat) this is Council envoy Yuuko Shirakawa, agent of the dragon, and historian for the archives in Dublin Ireland. As part of the Chronicles initiative, I am interviewing active agents from the 21st century so that future generations may better understand the context in which events are taking place. This session is being recorded on 03-30-2016 in Northern Ireland, at the Giant's Causeway.
  4. Yuuko: could you please state your full name, date of birth, affiliation and rank.
  5. -redacted-: Yaksha Dokuja. It’s not my birth name. That name is not for you to hear. Born November 20, 1950. I’m a member of the Illuminati, a...grunt, you could say.
  6. Yukko: Can you tell us about your family?
  7. -redacted-: -His expression is entirely hidden behind his mask, but as he speaks there’s a hint of steel there...and an absolute ton of venom- They’re gone.
  8. Yuuko: Where did you grow up?
  9. -redacted-: China. A little province called Hebei.
  10. Yuuko: How would you describe your childhood?
  11. -redacted-: Ups and downs, really. I had a good relationship with my friends and neighbors. But things started to fall apart when I was in my teens.
  12. Yuuko: How were you first introduced to the secret world?
  13. -redacted-: When I was in my twenties, I moved away. To the Americas. While I was there, I...didn’t fit in all that well. And eventually I fell in with a bad crowd.
  14. Yuuko: did you have any contact (either directly or indirectly) with your society before your powers awakened?
  15. -redacted-: Yes. We...didn’t get along. I spent a lot of time running their people in circles for the hell of it.
  16. Yuuko: Were you forced into service or were you being hunted for something you did?
  17. -redacted-: A...little of both. I did some horrible things. Caused a lot of problems for people. Once I had my head on the chopping block until the Illuminati pulled rank and threw their weight around. I’d be dead now if they hadn’t claimed me as one of theirs.
  18. Yuuko: Does anima sensitivity run in your family or are you the only one to develop powers?
  19. -redacted-: I wouldn’t know. The rest of my family never got a chance.
  20. Yuuko: Can you tell us what a normal day looks like for you?
  21. -redacted-: I forage. I spend my time in wartorn areas, places where people inhabited and vanished in the span of a few days. There’s a surprising amount of things worth salvaging in those areas. Food, ammunition. Information, more than anything. I’m good at gathering information.
  22. Yuuko: Are you in direct competition with the kingdome or have you worked with them in the past?
  23. -redacted-: I don’t have too much interaction with them, normally. Saiid is the only one I’ve met in person, and to be honest I’m not sure he even cares all that much about me. He’s a fun man, but...I couldn’t say I’ve worked for or against him. Not that the option isn’t appealing.
  24. Yuuko: has your work for your society ever brought you into contact with anyone who would be considered historically significant (world leaders, celebrities, scientist and engineers.)
  25. -redacted-: No. I mostly don’t interact with other people in the line of my work.
  26. Yuuko: Have you ever seen an event reported in the media and known that it was a lie and if so can you tell us what really happened?
  27. -redacted-: I’m an Illuminati. A lot of the things mentioned in the US are lies. There’s been...a lot of complaints of late about mansplaining and the sort. It didn’t take that long to convince the youth that they needed to fight for their rights and freedoms that they didn’t even know they needed.
  28. Yuuko: What was the last event you can remember that shook both the secret world and the mundane equally?
  29. -redacted-: The Communist Revolution, I’d have to say. There was a surprising amount of upheaval for the normal people and the monsters alike.
  30. Yuuko: Do you remember anything before the revolution, do you feel that China has changed for the better or worse since opening up to the world?
  31. -redacted-: The worse. Absolutely the worse. The revolution did...absolutely nothing but hurt good people and turn them against one another.
  32. Yuuko: Have you ever participated in an event considered historically important to the mundane world and if so was it on behalf of your society
  33. -redacted-: Yes, and no.
  34. Yuuko: Thank you for taking the time to speak with us -redacted-.
  35. -redacted-: It’s not a problem. I didn’t have anything else to do.
