  12. Owls and a Fool Chapter II Part II
  13.
  14. >Octavia and Anon let each other go with an overwhelming sensation of content, as if nothing could ruin their day
  15. >Maybe Stella’s rants about Anon’s injuries could though
  16. >”Uh, Ock?”
  17. >Octavia tilts her head in anticipation for the question
  18. >”Hm?”
  19. >A new voice interrupts before Anon could finish
  20. >”We’re here, your highness.”
  21. >One day without this highness shit would be cool
  22. >A look out the limo tells Anon they’ve arrived at Stylish Occult, and finishes asking Octavia his question
  23. >”Can you make these go away somehow? I can’t have mom giving me a presentation on why I’m a reckless imbecile.”
  24. >”Hmm, I’ve got an idea.”
  25. >A sht eating grin slowly forms across her beak
  26. >”You won’t like it, though.”
  27. >5 minutes of futile resistance later, inside
  28. >”Ow, OW! Quit it!”
  29. >”Hold still, dckhead. I can’t get these wounds to fade with you squirming.”
  30. >Octavia is putting makeup on Anon in the back room with a smile, freshening him up
  31. >He seems insistent on making it stupidly difficult
  32. >”Ugh, I’ll try. No promises.”
  33. >After some time the session didn’t feel uncomfortable anymore, it was actually pretty comforting
  34. >The soft brushes across Anon’s skin were almost hypnotic
  35. >It was even distracting him from Fk You Dad’s tinnitus-inducing sound coming from Octavia’s phone
  36. >She dips a new tool into the kit, and holds it out to Anon
  37. >”Eyeliner?”
  38. >A simple deadpan from the sinner
  39. >”Seriously?”
  40. >”Yes or No?”
  41. >”FFFFFine.”
  42. >The cold material causes Anon to nearly jolt, but gets used to it quick
  43. >”So, are all makeup artists’ music tastes bad, or is it just yours?”
  44. >Anon’s grin quickly falters with a backhand to the head
  45. >”Ow!”
  46. >Octavia’s response is an amused eye-roll with a smile
  47. >”Shush.”
  48. >You know what?
  49. >This whole ‘doing things with your sister’ stuff isn’t too bad after all

  52.
  53. >The cool eyeliner continues stroking the tips of Anon’s eyelids
  54. >He’ll probably come out looking like a regular customer of one of those edgy human world clothing shops
  55. >But it didn’t matter
  56. >Because the smile that Octavia was showing was worth the entire nine circles to him
  57. >Just seeing her genuinely happy for once gave him peace
  58. >His plan to fix the family was finally moving forward
  59. >”Done!”
  60. >Octavia moves out of the way as to let Anon stand up
  61. >A glance in the mirror confirms Anon’s fears of an emo appearance
  62. >”Look at you! You don’t look like a hobo out of Imp City anymore!”
  63. >Look everyone, it’s the queen of comedy
  64. >”Ha ha. Let’s go find something for you.”
  65. >Both siblings walk out of the back room giddy with joy
  66. >”Speaking of which, did you know that while Imps are 13% of the population-”
  67. >Anon tunes her out, but is happy she’s talking to him regardless
  68. >One showcase catches his eye
  69. >A black Hellhound with abnormally large teeth with an enraged expression stared back into him
  70. >”Hey Ock, check this out!”
  71. >Octavia looks up to the intimidating figure with fear, then intrigue, then arousal, then back to intrigue all in the space of 2 seconds
  72. >Her eyes seemed to sparkle with amazement if you looked close enough
  73. >”Cool.”
  74. >”Want this one?”
  75. >”YES.”
  76. >They walk up to the cashier and place the order
  77. >”That’ll be 1665 souls, sir.”
  78. >Oh.
  79. >Anon was going to get new factory windshields for his car with that money
  80. >But when you want to make your family happy, sometimes you gotta go the extra mile for it
  81. >Just before Anon can fetch for his wallet, Stolas seems to appear out of thin air from behind and slams a stack of bills on the desk
  82. >”You may keep the change.”
  83. >The cashier shows both fear and gratitude at his presence with a bow
  84. >”O-oh! Thank you so much, your highness!”
  85. >Heh
  86. >Love you, dad

  92. Alright nerds, Owls and a Fool has a Spotify playlist. Don't know why I made it, just thought it would be convenient I guess.

  96. >Stolas gestures the siblings as he walks out without a word
  97. >What did Anon do to deserve him
  98. >”Well, duty calls you two. Let’s be on our way!”
  99. >Anon carries the surprisingly light showcase and follows Octavia out of the store
  100. >But not before a resonating voice calls to him from behind
  101. >”You!”
  102. >Anon jolts and turns behind him looking for the source of the shout
  103. >But no one was there
  104. >Not even the cashier
  105. >A sudden wave of tension and doom begins to show itself
  106. >Anon’s vision fills itself with vignette
  107. >Various figures turn their head directly towards him, gravely slow
  108. >They all looked at him as if to blame him for a cardinal crime
  109. >He glances down to the figure in his hands
  110. >It shows no visible change
  111. >A look back up
  112. >It’s the same
  113. >A look down
  114. >It’s the same-
  115. >The eyes move with a snap, glaring directly into Anon’s
  116. >”STOP!”
  117. >Anon screams as he jumps back, bumping into Octavia while hyperventilating
  118. >Refocusing his vision, he can see everything has returned to normal
  119. >Octavia and Stolas also hold expressions of dread
  120. >Did they see the same thing?
  121. >Anon nearly faints but is caught by Octavia who supports him back to the limo silently
  122. >Stolas walks over to Octavia with terror in his eyes as he struggles to breathe himself
  123. >He whispers in her ear, voice shaky with uncertainty
  124. >”We… need to talk when we get home, starfire.”
  125. ---

  127.
  128. >Anon’s eyeliner has begun to smear from the panic attack
  129. >Now all that fills his poor mind is guilt
  130. >Whatever the hell happened to him must’ve scared the other two to death
  131. >It felt like some sort of force was making him see that
  132. >Looking to his left, Anon sees a dejected Octavia staring into the floor
  133. >Both her and Stolas are dead silent
  134. >Look at yourself, Anon. Right when you were starting to build the house of cards, it falls over after the first layer
  135. >Nice going
  136. >A notification from Anon’s hellphone interrupts his downward spiral
  137. >It was from Moxxie?
  138. >’Greetings, Anon! I found this song during one of our missions in the living world. I listened to it and absolutely adored it, so I wanted to send it to you to listen to!’
  139. >’Only if you want to, of course’
  140. >Below his text was a song called ‘American Pie’ by Don McLean
  141. >How can someone be socially timid over text?
  142. >He’ll save this for later
  143. >20 minutes later, Anon had excused himself to his room full of awkward anxiety
  144. >He’ll have to put the eyeliner back on for Ock to at least let her know he enjoyed his time with her today
  145. >But for now, Anon shall rest
  146. >Keep his mind distracted for a while
  147. >Now, about that song Moxxie sent him
  148. >Anon places in his earbuds and taps the play button, not sure of what to expect
  149. >’A long, long time ago…’
  150. >Oh hell yeah, this bops
  151. >The way the piano transitioned, how the singer had used a perfect falsetto
  152. >It was wonderful
  153. >Then the second verse started
  154. >”Sounds like Moxxie has good music taste.”
  155. >”Unlike the vast majority of imps, haha.”
  156. >Anon chuckles at his own shitty joke, hoping to cheer himself up a little more
  157. >The song had calmed Anon enough to make him tired
  158. >”Some rest would be good, especially if I want to .”
  159. >Anon lies down and falls into a deep slumber, hoping to prepare for the uncertainty ahead
