- Description: Noelle is a short, scrawny girl with sharp elbows and a sharper tongue. Her soft brown skin's in sharp contrast with her near-black indigo hair and equally dark eyes.
- Noelle was not having a good year. First there was that time her school'd gotten flooded under mysterious circumstances, right after the new English language teacher had apparently decided to quit without giving two weeks notice. Then there was that weirdness at the church that one time- she'd slept in but apparently, there'd been a gas leak...and the roof had caved in. No one'd been hurt.
- The last straw was when a pair of girls in frilly dresses drop-kicked a dragon out of the sky...and right on top of her house when she'd been coming home from school.
- No one'd been home, but that wasn't much comfort. The dragon'd gotten right back up- its tail casually smashing her family's car- and the three of them had taken their fight down the street without even noticing her.
- No one'd believed her. At first, everyone'd nodded and smiled along- it wasn't her fault, she thought she'd seen something, poor dear, one's family's house collapsing right before you went inside would be enough to unsettle anyone, give her space...
- But as time went on and she didn't play along and pretend she hadn't seen anything, the understanding looks started to change to annoyance. There came gentle and not so gentle suggestions that maybe she ought to talk to someone.
- That was when the counseling started.
- Then the therapist visits.
- Then the medicine. Little red and white pills passed to her father in bottles by her family doctor with hushed, blurted explanations.
- Noelle didn't change her story. She knew what'd she'd seen. She wasn't crazy, even if it sounded that way. She knew something's happened, and turned her life upside down...and she wasn't going to smile and nod and pretend she'd been making it up, even if it was making her life even more of a mess.
- She hated the pitying looks more than the angry ones.
