  1. Galinda sat on a bench.. she was cut off.. completely. her mental connections to the internet were reconfigured by the light.. her higher functions programming shut down due to heat limits..
  2. she was on her own. again.
  3. she tapped the ground with her cane and adjusted the red sunglasses, or what other people said were red sunglasses.. hard to tell colors with no eyes.
  4. the wind whistled around the park.. one of the few sounds lindie heard..
  5. she had gotten down here by herself.. no one had helped her.. she tapped her way around and down here.. she just needed time alone.
  6. ever since that day people have been treating her diffrent.. not good diffrent.. bad diffrent.
  7. "careful there lindie. you almost ran into a wall there. watch out lindie, that door just opened up in front of you. lindie, do you need me to help feed you? lindie, the women's restroom is to the left. lindie, lindie, lindie."
  8. lindie sighed "this is not what i wanted..."
  9. "what did you want.. if i may be too brash to ask?" said a voice that lindie groaned at.
  10. "Doctor.. what do you want?" she said "and how did you sneek up on me?"
  11. "well.. i was just around and decided to drop in." the sound of hoofsteps came closer to lindies left side and the bench sagged under a ponys weight.
  12. "... doctor whooves?" lindie asked
  13. "yes.. were you thinking i was somepony else?" the doctor replied.
  14. "well i thought you were the human doctor... why do you two have the same voices if i may ask?"
  15. "long story.. but enough about me. how are you feeling." the doctor said
  16. "good.. good" lindie said
  17. "no.. really. how are you feeling?"
  18. "... like everyone is treating me diffrent.. and not the good kind."
  19. "good kind?" the doctor asked
  20. "yes.. like... when i was a little girl i was.. invisible. no one saw me. i was the middle child for a few years and then the second oldest when my two very young siblings were born..
  21. i was the child who.. although she needed things she never asked for them for fear of harming the others.. my older sister was kind of.... well she was the oldest and so she was the "test round" of the kids.. she got her way, most of the time, because my parents did not know any better.. my younger brother was more spoiled because he was the baby of the family for a few years. as for the two littlist ones.. well they were kind of a package deal and both were the babies of the family when they were born. no they are not twins but they sure act like it."
  22. lindie sighed and used her cane to draw a circle in the dirt.. at least she hoped it was a circle.
  23. "so for years i was stuck in the shadows.. on the back burner. never outshining my other siblings... untill...
  24. -------
  25. (in the past.)
  26. Lindie looked at the computer.. it was old, had a cracked screen, the paint had peeled off from years of use..
  27. but it was beautiful.
  28.
  29. she looked at the keyboard and smiled.. who knew history had its high points.
  30. she was in the interactive area of the museum. her fingers carressed the old computer and it flicked on..
  31. "oh.. uh.. run program shut down." she said. nothing happened.
  32. "um.. turn off?" again nothing
  33. "stop?" once more nothing
  34. a deep chuckle caused her to turn around and look at the source
  35. it was a old african american "sweetheart.. you need to use the mouse with that old thing." he said.
  36. "okay." she turned back towards the computer and reached out.. before turning back "whats a 'mouse?'"
  37. "right.. i keep forgetting you youngsters have everything automated... here let me show you.."
  38. he stepped up to the computer and set his hand on the half sphere just to the right of the keyboard.
  39. his hand moved and the small arrow on the screen shifted causing a snake trail to follow
  40. it is something simple yes.. but that something simple was the start of the why.
  41. lindie was enamored.. she had to get one.. a computer.. not a "computational device" nor a "idrive" an actual computer. with a tower, a moniter, keyboard, and a mouse.
  42.
  43. she saved up every credit she got her hands on.. she sold everything she could.
  44. she finally was able to get the most basic computer on the market.. something of an antique to start with. she played games like minceraft and second death. but what really caused her to jump for joy was the fact she was famous for this old worn down braeburn computer. although she did not know why they named it after a peice of fruit it was still the coolest thing she had.
  45. the doors it opened allowed her to expand her sales.. she was soon as wealthy as any two percenter with a job. she soon made enough credits to get her own body upgraded.. first it was the simple things.. a boob job, a facelift, lipo.. but then she began to go deeper.
  46. programable waists, extra strength arms.
  47. but her eyes.. those were her pride and joy.. she modified them so many times they were more machine than flesh
  48. they had heat sensors, color changers, zoom, film and photograpy... and she was the only one with those eyes.
  49. those same eyes made her diffrent.. made her special. made her more than anyone.
  50. ------------
  51. "...and now.. i lost them.. i was going to lose them anyway i know.. but i thought..."
  52. "you thought that by then it was not going to matter..." the doctor said.
  53. "yeah.. "
  54. a few beeps were heard and the doctor stood up "oh look at the time.. i really really have to fly.. i will see you later. perhaps. maybe. be good and all that..."
  55. lindie reached out for the doctor and touched only air... she felt a breeze of wind and heard a small ruffle. "doctor?"
  56. a shout was heard at the top of the hill behind her followed by a pair of feet running down through the astroturf."I found her!"
  57. the voice was the same as the one she heard before but the feet were unmistakeably human
  58. "i was never hiding doctor... you did not need to find me.." she said standing up "besides the other one found me first" she walked slowly up the hill tapping her cane.
  59. "the other one? thats impossible.. he was in the bureau looking for you with me" Doctor tennant followed trying to peice it together.
  60.
  61. a single brown feather floated down and landed on the park bench where lindie spoke with her newfound friend
