  1. 4000 Downpayment + destination
  2. 654 * 36 = 23544
  3. -1875 Federal Tax Credit
  4. -5000 from selling RS
  5. Cost = 20669 over 3 years
  6.
  7. RS Sale = 31000 - 12,500
  8. 18,500 Return (possibly)
  9. 5000 used to start lease, invest remaining 13,500
  10. 13,500 at 4% over 3 years = 15,185
  11.
  12.
  13.
  14. 34 Payments left on Focus
  15. 450 * 36 = 16200
  16. Maintenance ~ 2000$ (Will probably need new tires by then).
  17.
  18. RS worth in 3 years with 26,000 miles on it...
  19. Maybe 25,000?
  20. 25000 - 18200 = 6800
  21.
  22. If I pay off the RS it will cost us 18200$ over the next 3 years and we'll be left with an asset worth 25,000
  23. If I sell it that day, I will have had a net cost of ownership over the period that is positive 7000. It also has a full warranty for 6 years which limits risk.
  24. Cost = 18,2000 Estimated
  25. Asset = 24,0000
  26. Net Result = 5000 to 7000$ (Depending on how much it sells for)
  27.
  28.
  29. If I get the Model 3 it will cost us 20669$ over the next 3 years, and we'll be left with an Asset worth 15000$ (The Cash from the RS)
  30. Cost = 20669
  31. Asset = 15000
  32. Likely Gas Savings from 30,000 miles at 30 MPG and 3.75$ per gallon = 3000$
  33. Net result = Loss of 2,500
  34.
  35. We will be taking a hit of 7,000 dollars by getting the model 3. This comes down to 194$ a month
  36.
  37. The question is whether or not having the performance model 3 is worth an extra 194$ a month compared to driving the RS. This fact stands regardless of who is paying for it. I don't like to waste my money or other people's money. Even if squeeze paid for the whole thing I'd still say no if I didn't think it was worth it.
  38.
  39. Pros:
  40. Faster than the RS
  41. Better Tech
  42. Comfier
  43. Better for Passengers
  44. Cherrie can drive it
  45. Safer
  46. Better for the enviroment
  47. I have to explain to 98% of people what a Focus RS is and everyone will know what a tesla is
  48.
  49. Neutral:
  50. Not necessarily as thrilling as RS, but more thrilling than the civic, and we would be driving it every day so it would even out (Besides most of the time I drive the RS in traffic anyway which kills the fun).
  51. Electric, lowers flexibility but also we have a second gas car
  52.
  53. Negatives:
  54. Not as flashy as the RS for those who know what it is
  55. More common
  56. Automatic, in a time when Manuals are becoming increasingly rare/valuable
