Heinel: The sphere has appeared once again...?

ズール
「左様で。
場所は[第3新東京市]の上空です」
Zuhl: Yes, my lord. In the skies of a place known as [Tokyo-3].

ハイネル
「ボルテスV が消えた都市か…」
Heinel: The same city where Voltes V disappeared...

ジャンギャル
「ド・ズールよ、
あの球体は日本近海にも一度現れたが、
程なくして消失した」
Jangal: Do Zuhl, that sphere appeared once before near the coast of Japan, but vanished shortly following.

ジャンギャル
「その際、球体に送り込んだ偵察部隊は
戻ってきておらぬのか?」
Jangal: Was the scouting part we sent into it earlier unable to return?

ズール
「うむ。
そもそも、日本近海と第3新東京市の球体が
同じ先に繋がっているとは限らん」
Zuhl: Indeed. Although, we should not assume the sphere off Japan’s coast and the one over Tokyo-3 lead to the same destination to begin with.

カザリーン
「誰が、何のためにあのようなものを…」
Kathrine: For who, or perhaps what, are these being used for...?

ハイネル
「まだわからぬが、ボルテスV どもの消失には
あの球体が関係していると見て間違いない」
Heinel: That is still unknown to us, but it undoubtedly has some correlation to the disappearance of Voltes V.

ハイネル
「我々の制圧作戦を盤石にするためにも、
あれの情報を得たいところではあるが…」
Heinel: I would like to gather intelligence on these enigmas so as to further solidify our plans for conquest...

ズール
「ハイネル様、球体については依然調査中ですが、
もうひとつ調査を進めていた件については
わずかに進展がございました」
Zuhl: Lord Heinel, while the investigation of the spheres is still underway, we have made progress towards the other matter.

ハイネル
「あの[第3新東京市]とやらに現れた巨大な化け物の件か?
申せ」
Heinel: You refer to the giant monster which appeared within [Tokyo-3]? Tell me.

ズール
「地球人どもの兵器ではないのは、ほぼ明らかですが、
あれに類する存在は今まで出現が
確認されておりません」
Zuhl: It is almost certain that it is not an Earthling weapon, however we have never seen anything like it before.

ズール
「ですが、あの街では
突如現れたあの化け物に対抗するための
手段を用意しておりました。となると…」
Zuhl: And yet, they have prepared countermeasures against the monster, despite its abrupt appearance. This means...

ハイネル
「あの街と、あの化け物に、
何か関連性があるかもしれんということか」
Heinel: That city, and that monster, are connected in some manner.

ズール
「左様でございます」
Zuhl: Quite so, my lord.

ハイネル
「…ド・ズールよ、あの街を襲撃するのだ」
Heinel: Do Zuhl, you are to attack that city.

ハイネル
「地球制圧作戦の妨げとなるものは
球体であろうと、化け物であろうと、
調べておく必要がある」
Heinel: Any potential obstacle to our Earth conquest operation must be investigated, be it sphere or monster.

ズール
「ははっ!」
Zuhl: Yes, my lord!

シゲル
「司令、連邦の伊豆基地司令部より、
再びゲートの調査依頼が来ています」
Shigeru: Commander, the Federation’s Izu Base Headquarters is requesting to investigate the Gate once more.

ゲンドウ
「返答は同じだ。
[NERV]で調査を行っている。
連邦軍の介入は必要ない」
Gendo: Give them the usual reply. [NERV] is conducting its own investigation. Federation intervention is not necessary.

冬月
「ロンド・ベル隊が、
この第3新東京市で消息を絶ってから1週間…
これで何度目だったかな」
Fuyutsuki: It’s been one week since we lost contact with Londo Bell in Tokyo-3... I can’t even count how many times they’ve ask us that since then.

冬月
「…ただ、いいのか、碇。
初号機不在の現状で、[使徒]が出現することがあれば
零号機だけで対応することになるぞ」
Fuyutsuki: ...But remember, Ikari. Unit-01 is gone. If an [Angel] were to appear, Unit-00 alone would have to face it.

ゲンドウ
「問題ない。
すでに追加の機体とパイロットも手配してある」
Gendo: It is not an issue. I have already made arrangements for a supplementary unit and pilot.

(NERV detects something.)

マヤ
「第3新東京市上空に重力異常現象が発生!」
Maya: An abnormal gravity phenomenon has occurred over Tokyo-3!

冬月
「重力異常…上空のゲートにか?」
Fuyutsuki: A gravity anomaly... Is it from the Gate?

マヤ
「いえ、違います!
この反応はボアザンの機動兵器です!」
Maya: No, it’s not the Gate! This signature indicates Boazanian mobile weapons!

ゲンドウ
「零号機とレイを出撃させろ」
Gendo: Have Unit-00 and Rei launch.

冬月
「彼女を出すのか?」
Fuyutsuki: We’re going to send her out?

ゲンドウ
「零号機の凍結はすでに解除している。
問題ない」
Gendo: The freeze on Unit-00 has already been lifted. It’s not a problem.

冬月
「…そうか」
Fuyutsuki: ...I see.

『光の中からの帰還』
Episode 18
Return from the Light


(Scene starts on the map screen of Tokyo-3. Boazan saucers are attacking the city.)

冬月
「散発的な攻撃だ。明確な攻撃目標はない…。
となると、威力偵察か」
Fuyutsuki: Indiscriminate attacks. No clear target in mind... They’re just testing our strength.

マコト
「エヴァ零号機、発進準備完了!」
Makoto: EVA Unit-00, launch preparations complete!

ゲンドウ
「発進だ」
Gendo: Launch.

(Rei appears on the map with Unit-00.)

ゲンドウ
「レイ、敵はこちらの調査が目的だ。
速やかに全て倒せ」
Gendo: Rei, the enemy seeks to study us. Defeat them quickly.

レイ
「了解」
Rei: Roger.

(Battle 1 begins.)

(Battle 1 ends when all enemies are defeated.)

冬月
「撃退はできたが、
これで零号機の存在は知られることになったな」
Fuyutsuki: We were able to repel them, but now the existence of Unit-00 will be known.

ゲンドウ
「遅かれ早かれ明らかになったことだ。
いま知られたとて大した問題ではない」
Gendo: It would have been made clear sooner or later. That it was revealed now is of no consequence.

マヤ
「! 新たな重力異常を確認!
発生源は上空のゲートからです!」
Maya: ! We’ve confirmed a new gravity anomaly! It’s coming from the Gate above us!

冬月
「ゲートだと?では…」
Fuyutsuki: From the Gate? Then...

ゲンドウ
「…来たか」
Gendo: ...They’ve come.

(Ra Cailum, Archangel, Isaribi, and Oceanus appear on the map.)

マヤ
「あれは…」
Maya: Those are...

シゲル
「データ照合!
4隻のうち1隻は、連邦軍所属のラー・カイラムです!」
Shigeru: Comparing data! One of the four ships is identified as the Earth Federation’s Ra Cailum!

冬月
「碇…これもお前の想定通りか?」
Fuyutsuki: Ikari... Were you expecting this as well?

ゲンドウ
「………」
Gendo: ...

ミサト
「ここは…第3新東京市?
それに、あれは零号機…!
じゃあ…」
Misato: This is...Tokyo-3? And that’s Unit-00...! Then...

ブライト
「我々は戻ってくることができたのか…」
Bright: It would appear we successfully returned...

オルガ
「どうやらその様子だと、
ここはやっぱりあんたたちの世界ってことで
いいんだな?」
Orga: From the looks of it, I take it this really is your world, huh?

ブライト
「現在確認中だが、おそらくは」
Bright: We’re confirming that now, but it’s very likely.

ブライト
「葛城二佐、NERVに連絡を取れるか?」
Bright: Lieutenant Colonel Katsuragi, have we received contact from NERV?

ミサト
「はい」
Misato: Yes.

(Misato opens up a line to NERV.)

ゲンドウ
「葛城二佐、状況の説明を」
Gendo: Status report, Lieutenant Colonel Katsuragi.

弁慶
「い…いきなりだな」
Benkei: It, uh...didn’t take you long to ask for that, did it?

ゲンドウ
「そちらの艦がこの第3新東京市で消失してから、
すでに1週間が経過している。
説明を求めるのは当然のことだ」
Gendo: It has been one week since you vanished from Tokyo-3. An explanation is warranted.

ミサト
「碇司令、我々は…」
Misato: Commander, we...


(Scene changes back to the map screen of Tokyo-3. The ships and Unit-00 are still on the map.)


キラ
「ここがアムロ大尉たちの世界…
僕たちの世界とあまり変わらないんだな」
Kira: So this is Lieutenant Amuro’s world... It’s not much different from our own.

カレン
「…海の色は大違いだけど」
Kallen: ...The color of the sea is pretty different though.

三日月
「クーデリアの依頼で
地球に行くことにはなってたけど、
並行世界の地球に来るとは思わなかったな」
Mikazuki: We were supposed to go to Earth because of Kudelia’s request. Didn’t think we’d come to one in a parallel world.

メイウー
「さっきまでいた世界も地球だったんだけど…」
May-Yu: We were on Earth in our world too, but this is completely...

ハルト
「あ、ご…ごめんっ!」
Haruto: Oh, uh... Sorry!

キョウ
「なんでハルトが謝ってんだよ。
それに別に気ぃ使わなくてもいいさ」
Kyo: What are you apologizing for, Haruto? It’s not like you did anything wrong.

キョウ
「ただ廃墟じゃない街を見ると、
違う世界に来たって実感しちまうな」
Kyo: But yeah, when we see a city that’s not in ruins, it really drives home that we aren’t in our world anymore.

シズノ
「そうね…」
Shizuno: Exactly...

ルーシェン
「肉体を持った人類が存在する世界、か…」
Lu-Shen: A world where corporeal humans exist, huh...

甲児
「他の艦のみんな、
この街を見ても反応が普通なんだろうな。
俺たちから見りゃ未来都市もいいとこだってのに」
Koji: Everyone on the other ships must be having a pretty normal reaction. To us though, this futuristic city looks pretty sweet.

ショウ
「仕方がないさ。
昭和の時代だったからな、俺たちの世界は」
Show: We can’t help it. Our world is from the Showa era after all.

カミーユ
「だけど、以前の葛城二佐の説明を踏まえて、
複数の世界で共通していることがいくつかある」
Kamille: But from Colonel Katsuragi’s explanation, a lot of our worlds have things in common.

凱
「人間がいて、ロボット兵器を運用している点だな」
Guy: Humans piloting robot weapons is a particular strong point.

カミーユ
「ええ…」
Kamille: Yeah...

メグ
「あたしたちがあの境界空間に集まったのも、
単なる偶然とは思えないもんね…」
Meg: I can’t just believe it’s mere coincidence that we were all gathered in the Boundary Space...

メグ
「誰かが仕組んだことだとしたら、途方もない話だわ」
Meg: If someone set it all up, there has to be some reason for it.

ディド
「それは…」
Dido: That’s...

ディド
「…!」
Dido: ...!

(Boazon saucers appear.)

弁慶
「ボアザンの連中か!」
Benkei: It’s those Boazon bozos!

冬月
「ゲートの異変を察知して、
再度偵察してきたといったところか」
Fuyutsuki: So they sent out a second scouting party when they noticed something unusual with the Gate.

ゲンドウ
「零号機はそのまま迎撃を。
葛城二佐、ロンド・ベル隊にも対応してもらう」
Gendo: Unit-00 will continue to intercept. Lieutenant Colonel Katsuragi, have Londo Bell assist as well.

ミサト
「…よろしいでしょうか、ブライト艦長?」
Misato: ...Is that alright with you, Captain Bright?

ブライト
「良いも悪いも見過ごすわけにはいかんさ」
Bright: For better or worse, we can’t simply over look them.

ブライト
「各機、出撃しろ!」
Bright: Launch all units!

(The player’s team deploys.)

龍馬
「こっちに戻ってきて早々、
またボアザンの兵器とやり合うことになるとはな!」
Ryoma: We just got back and we already have some Boazanian weapons to trash!

弁慶
「すでにNERVのエヴァ零号機も出ている!
連携して迎撃に当たれ!」
Benkei: NERV’s EVA Unit-00 is already out there! Coordinate with it and beat back the enemy!

シンジ
「エヴァ零号機…」
Shinji: EVA Unit-00...

健一
「俺たちは帰ってきたぞ、ボアザン!
お前たちの好きにはさせない!」
Kenichi: We’re back, Boazon! And we won’t just let you do as you please!

(Battle 2 begins.)

(This line triggers if Shinji battles an enemy.)

シンジ
「エヴァ零号機。
あの黄色い機体もエヴァなのか。
じゃあ乗っているのは…」
Shinji: EVA Unit-00. So that yellow machine is an EVA too. Then the pilot must be...

(Battle 2 ends when all enemies are defeated.)

ミサト
「今ので最後みたいですね。
ブライト艦長、ご協力ありがとうございました」
Misato: That looks like the last one. Thank you for your cooperation, Captain Bright.

ブライト
「構わんさ。
初号機の初戦の時のように、
ただ見ていろと言われるのに比べればマシだ」
Bright: It’s fine. I much prefer it to sitting on the sidelines like during Unit-01’s first battle.

トーレス
「艦長、極東方面軍の岡長官から電文です。
同行している所属不明艦を連れて、
伊豆基地まで帰投せよ、と」
Torres: Captain, we’ve received a message from Chief Oka of the Far East Army. “Return to Izu Base with the unidentified vessels.”

ブライト
「了解した。岡長官であれば、
おそらく並行世界の存在にも理解を示し、
彼らの扱いも悪いようにはしないはずだ」
Bright: Understood. Chief Oka will most likely be open to the idea of parallel worlds existing, so he shouldn’t treat them poorly.

ミサト
「艦長、私と赤木博士、それとシンジ君にも
NERVから帰還命令が出ているため、
戻らせてもらいます」
Misato: Captain, myself, Dr. Akagi, and Shinji have been ordered to return to NERV.

ブライト
「そうか、わかった。
碇司令への報告はそちらに任せる」
Bright: Yes, I understand. I’ll leave reporting to Commander Ikari to you.

弁慶
「凱や氷竜たちも
一度[GGG]へ戻ることになるだろうな」
Benkei: Guy and ChoRyuJin will have to go back to [GGG] again as well.

ミサト
「元の世界で古巣に戻ってようやく一息…
と、いきたいところですけど、
報告のことを考えると頭が痛いですね」
Misato: We can finally catch a break and go back to our homes now that we’re back in our original world... Is what I’d like to say, but I just know reporting all this is gonna be a massive headache

ミサト
「こういう時、中間管理職である
自分の立場が恨めしいです」
Misato: I really hate being in middle management at times like this.

ブライト
「同感だな…」
Bright: The feeling is mutual...

(僕は帰ってきたのか…。
またこの場所に…)
Shinji: (I came back... To this place again...)

レイ
「………」
Rei: ...

シンジ
「あ、君は…」
Shinji: Oh, you’re...

レイ
「なに?」
Rei: What?

シンジ
(あの格好…
やっぱりあの子が零号機に…)
Shinji: (Her outfit... So she really is Unit-00’s...)

ミサト
「あら、シンジ君。
レイともう話してたの」
Misato: Oh, Shinji. I see you’ve already met Rei.

ミサト
「まだちゃんと紹介してなかったわね。
この子が零号機のパイロット、綾波レイよ」
Misato: You two still haven’t been properly introduced. This is Rei Ayanami, the pilot of Unit-00.

レイ
「よろしく」
Rei: Nice to meet you.

シンジ
「よ、よろしく…」
Shinji: N-Nice to meet you too...

レイ
「私は報告があるので先に戻ります」
Rei: I must report back, so I will return first.

ミサト
「ええ、私も後から行くわ」
Misato: Sure thing, I’ll be coming by later myself.

(Rei leaves.)

シンジ
「………」
Shinji: ...

ミサト
「同じエヴァのパイロット同士、
これから仲良くしてあげてちょうだい」
Misato: Be sure to get along with her from now on, since you’re both EVA pilots.

シンジ
「綾波もロンド・ベルに行くことになるんですか?」
Shinji: Will Ayanami be joining Londo Bell too?

ミサト
「私も戻ってきたばかりだから何とも言えないけど、
たぶんその可能性は低いと思うわ」
Misato: I can’t really say since I just got back, but that’s probably not going to happen.

シンジ
「そうですか…」
Shinji: Yeah, that makes sense...

ミサト
(ただ、碇司令が初号機を
ロンド・ベルに出向させた意図が読めない以上、
それも正直わからないけど…)
Misato: (Then again, I never figured out why Commander Ikari lent Unit-01 to Londo Bell in the first place, so I could be wrong...)

ミサト
「なんにせよ、今の向こうの状況から考えたら、
零号機をすぐにどうこうっていうのはないと思うわ」
Misato: Well anyways, considering what all’s going on, I doubt Unit-00 will be doing anything right away.

シンジ
「…あの、伊豆基地に行ったみんなは、
これからどうなるんですか?」
Shinji: ...Um, what’s going to happen to everyone that went to the Izu Base?

ミサト
「事情聴取を受けることになるでしょうね。
他の世界の機体については調査もされるでしょうし」
Misato: Questioning, first off. And the other world machines are definitely gonna get examined too.

ミサト
「[セレブラム]のみんなのことは…
まあ、反応を想像するに難しくないわね」
Misato: As for the [Celebram] gang... Well, it’s not hard to imagine the reaction to them.

シンジ
「………」
Shinji: ...

ミサト
「シンジ君、あなたが悩んでも仕方がないし、
ひとまず自分の世界に帰って来られて
良かったと思いなさい」
Misato: There’s no point worrying about all that now, Shinji. Just be happy you’re back in your own world.

シンジ
「はい…」
Shinji: Right...

ブライト
「…以上が、我々が知り得た全ての情報です」
Bright: ...And that is everything we have to report.

岡長官
「ふむ…この世界も変事が多かったが、
シマ司令たちは…」
Chief Oka: Hm... This world has been through its fair share of emergencies, but Commander Shima’s...

シマ
「…驚かれるのは当然です」
Shima: ...Your surprise is natural.

岡長官
「そして、境界空間とゲート…
その謎を解く鍵のひとつが…」
Chief Oka: Not to mention the Boundary Space, the mysterious Gates...and the one key to open them...

ディド
「だが、今の俺は自分の意志でゲートを開けない」
Dido: Currently, I am unable to open the Gates voluntarily.

メグ
「長官、鍵と言っても、
先ほどお話しした通り、ディドが
ゲートを開く条件はまだ何もわかっていない状況です」
Meg: As we said before, Chief Oka, we still don’t know the conditions it takes for Dido—the key so to speak—to be able to open the Gates.

岡長官
「だが関係があることには変わらん。
君のことは一度GGGで調査してもらうとしよう」
Chief Oka: But that doesn’t change the fact that there is a correlation. I’d like to have him examined by GGG as soon as possible.

ディド
「俺自身のことがわかるのであれば…」
Dido: If it can help me understand myself, then...

岡長官
「さて…君たちの方だが」
Chief Oka: Now... As for the rest of you.

オルガ
「とにかく俺たちは早く自分たちの世界に繋がる
ゲートを見つけたいんだ」
Orga: All we want is to hurry up and find the Gate leading back to our world.

マリュー
「長官たちの世界がそうであるように、
我々の世界にも解決しなければならない問題があり、
今も我々の帰りを待つ人々がいます」
Murrue: Just as with your own world, we have many problems that need to be resolved and many people awaiting our return in our own.

ブライト
「岡長官、我々は彼らの協力を経て、
こうして自分たちの世界へ戻ることができました。
できれば彼らの帰還の手助けをしたいと考えています」
Bright: Chief Oka, we were able to return to our own world thanks in no small part due to their efforts. If possible, I would like to aid them in returning to their own.

弁慶
「第3新東京市のゲートについて
何かわかっていることはないんですかね?」
Benkei: What do you know so far about Tokyo-3’s Gate?

岡長官
「NERVが調査を拒否しているため、
詳しい情報はないが…」
Chief Oka: Seeing as how NERV has refused all our requests to investigate it, I know next to nothing of it...

岡長官
「実は、第3新東京市以外の場所にも
ゲートは出現したのだ」
Chief Oka: However, I can tell you that Gates have been appearing in locations other than Tokyo-3.

メグ
「本当ですか…!?」
Meg: Seriously...!?

岡長官
「しかし、実地での調査を始める直前に
ゲートは消失してしまった」
Chief Oka: Yes, however the Gates would always vanish just before we would initiate our investigations.

岡長官
「もしかすると、君たちがシマ司令の世界で遭遇した
ボアザンの円盤は、我々が動く前に小笠原の
ゲートへ送り込まれたものかもしれん」
Chief Oka: It’s possible that the Boazon saucers you encounter in Commander Shima’s world entered the Gate at Ogasawara before we could take action.

オルガ
「チッ、せっかくゲートの手がかりが
見つかったかと思ったのによ」
Orga: Tch, and here I was hoping to get a clue about the Gates.

シマ
「しかし見方を変えれば、
この世界にも我々の世界と同様に
ゲートが複数開いているということになる」
Shima: But if you look at it from another angle, it means this world has multiple Gates opening, much like in my own.

弁慶
「確かにな…」
Benkei: That’s true...

岡長官
「君たちの情報は、
私の方から上に報告させてもらおう」
Chief Oka: I will be sure to report back to my superiors with the information you have provided.

ブライト
「長官、彼らの処遇は…」
Bright: Chief, about how they’ll be treated...

岡長官
「追って通達となるが、
今しばらくは不自由を強いることになる」
Chief Oka: You’ll be notified on that matter later, but for the moment, I’m afraid it’s going to be a little hard on you.

マリュー
「今しばらくということは…」
Murrue: “For the moment”, you say...?

岡長官
「参謀本部は色々と言ってくるだろうが、
悪い方向にはならないよう取り計らおう。
ただし条件がある」
Chief Oka: General Staff Headquarters will have a number of things to say regarding you all, but I can ensure it doesn’t go poorly. There is a condition to that, however.

シマ
「…この世界の混乱を収めるために、
あなた方に協力しろといったところでしょうか?」
Shima: ...You want our assistance in bringing back order to your world?

岡長官
「話が早くて助かる。
そういった話を一緒に伝えた方が、
上も説得がしやすい」
Chief Oka: It would save us a great deal of time. The higher ups would be much more amicable if we were to tell them you were willing to aid us at the same time we discuss what to do with you.

岡長官
「もちろんゲートに関する情報がわかれば、
君たちにも伝える」
Chief Oka: And of course, should I uncover any details about the Gates, I will pass it along to you.

シマ
「我々としては構いません。
元からそれは想定していたことでしたから」
Shima: As far as my group is concerned, that is not a problem. We had expected something like this from the onset.

マリュー
「我々も同様です。
寛大な処置に感謝致します」
Murrue: It’s not an issue with my group either. We thank you for your generous treatment.

オルガ
「………」
Orga: ...

ブライト
「オルガ、君はどうする?」
Bright: What will you do, Orga?

オルガ
「…元の世界に戻るためだ。
その話…乗らせてもらう」
Orga: ...If it’s to get back to our original world...then I’ll go along.

岡長官
「わかった」
Chief Oka: Understood.

岡長官
(並行世界同士を繋げるゲート…。
今は断続的に開いているだけだが、
もしその頻度が…いや、規模が大きくなるとしたら…)
Chief Oka: (The Gates that connect parallel worlds to one another... At present they open with irregularity, but if they were to open more frequently... Or rather, if they were to become more numerous...)

岡長官
(我々の世界に、大いなる災厄をもたらされる日が
近づいているのかもしれんな…)
Chief Oka: (The day where a great disaster befalls our world could be approaching...)
