  1. >Day Royal bastard in Equestria.
  2. >Sighing, you can't help but feel exhausted after the day you've had.
  3. >Looking towards the sunset, making sure each of your steps won't lead to a trip or fall, you reflect on why today felt harder than usual.
  4. >You had the same morning routine; woke up, cleaned yourself up, mom made decaf, and you were off to work.
  5. >Today's work was actually a lot more tolerable, not as much political mud slinging from the other races.
  6. >Heck, you had all but gotten used to the stress of being a member of the royal court.
  7. >Being a Satyr didn't help, being female did.
  8. >Reaching your home's front door, you open it up and feel an instant smile reach your lips as the scent from inside reaches your nostril.
  9. “Cinnamon buns.”
  10. >Taking lively steps towards the kitchen, you see your mom laying a tray of sweet cinnamony buns on the stove.
  11. >”Your favorite.”
  12. >She turns to you, a smile upon her aged face.
  13. >Chuckling, you walk over and grab one of the fresh treats with a paper towel.
  14. “Yeah, when I was a kid.”
  15. >Your mom takes a seat, her long beautiful blonde hair falling to cover her face.
  16. >She parts it and lays her hands on her lap.
  17. >”Oh, you're still my kid, no matter how old or important you get.”
  18. >You lean in and peck your mother on her cheek.
  19. >Going to the fridge to grab a cup of milk, you feel the stress of the day leaving you.
  20. >Even that unwelcome encounter with prince Blueblood is washing away.
  21. >”So, how was work today?”
  22. >Taking another bite of your bun, then a sip of milk, you swallow before answering.
  23. “It was good. We're preparing for a trip from the Elements of Harmony's children.”
  24. >Your mother looks somewhat surprised.
  25. >”All of them?”
  26. >Chuckling, you shake your head.
  27. “No no, just the oldest. I doubt the court would like having a whole baker's dozen of Satyrs at once.”
  28. >An exaggeration, yeah, but the nobles were too busy with their heads up their own asses; one probably seemed like an army to them.
  29. >”I didn't know the Elements were so... busy.”
  30. >Nearly choking on your milk, you cough into a paper towel and laugh.
  31. “I-k-kgck, I was joking mom!”
  32. >She chuckles along with you.
  33. >However, despite what you had thought, that same scene from earlier keeps running in your head.
  34. >You can feel a frown forming upon your lips, causing your mother to stop.
  35. >”Ha ha... ha... Bonnet? What's wrong dear?”
  36. >Sighing, you shake your head.
  37. “Nothing... I mean... Ugh, some prickhead Unicorn tried to talk to me today.”
  38. >Your mother's eyes shoot wide, a scowl forming upon her face.
  39. >”He didn't make any lewd comments did he? It wasn't one of the court members, was it?!”
  40. “No, no mom... it... it was an older stallion.”
  41. >She doesn't seem to understand what you are saying at first, but soon realizes.
  42. >Calming herself, she looks away from you, towards the oven.
  43. >”I see...”
  44. “He had a white coat, yellow mane...”
  45. >She is silent, aside from a few deep breaths.
  46. “... His name was Blueblood.”
  47. >She sighs, her teeth grinding audible, despite her best efforts to silence it.
  48. >”I-I see... Did he say anything to you?”
  49. >Setting the bun and milk away, you don't feel like snacking anymore.
  50. “Dumb horn fucker tried to say he was my father.”
  51. >Your mom opens and closes her mouth several times, probably trying to find the right words to say.
  52. >After a few minutes, she takes a deep breath and locks her eyes with your own.
  53. >”You deserved better than him.”
  54. >She never told you the story, but that didn't stop you from finding out.
  55. >No father, no hospital record, it was like you weren't even born.
  56. >He tried to get rid of you, you think.
  57. >Now that you are in a position of power though...
  58. >No, he doesn't even deserve a spot in your thoughts.
  59. >He did nothing for you and your mother.
  60. >Taking her hand, you smile.
  61. “I got better. I got you.”
  62. >Tearing up a bit, your mom wipes your eyes with the back of one of her fingers.
  63. >”So, I've heard that some of the elements kids are still siiingleee~”
  64. >Pulling your hand back, you try to give your mom an annoyed face.
  65. >You fail, horribly.
  66. >”What? I've seen them, they're pretty handsome.”
  67. >Laughing a bit, you take your snack and head out of the kitchen.
  68. >”Where are you going?”
  69. “T-To my room, where I won't be told to push a baby out of me anytime soon!”
  70. >Snickering and fighting the urge to laugh, you make it half way there before your mom calls out.
  71. >”It's not so bad! Just pop out a couple dozen first.”
  72. >God, you love her, but she can drive you insane sometimes.
  73. >Still, she's your mom, and she's always been there for you.
  74. >Blueblood may claim to be your family, but he was never there for you.
