>”What’s this?” Loan heard over her shoulder
>She turned to see her aunt Lucy
>”It’s... uh, a video game.” Loan said as she turned back and unpaused.
>”What’s it about?” Aunt Lucy said as stepped around the couch to sit down.
>”Uh... hunting monsters.” Loan mumbles.
>”What’s it called?” Lucy says as Loan’s character ran through the forest.
>”Monster Hunter...” She mumbles again as she looks at the map.
>”Imaginative.” Lucy says deadpan.
>”It’s really f-fun...” Loan says as the monster appears.
>”Ooo, that looks... demonic.”
>”It’s just a stupid pickle with legs.”
>”But, it has that demonic energy flowing around it.”
>”I mean, it’s called Deviljho, but-“
>”That seems a poor name for a Devil, Loan.”
>”I didn’t name it. It doesn’t really matter, it jus- fuck!” She tells as she gets launched across the map by a charge.
>”Language...” Lucy quietly admonishes.
>”...Sorry.” Loan says as she gets back into the fight with a couple charged swings. “It’s fun. You can kind of just turn your brain off for a bit and focus on a goal.”
>”That sounds nice.” Lucy says as stands up.
>”Why are you here, anyways? Are you dropping Lupa off?” Loan says over her shoulder.
>”No, she’s at Luan’s tonight. Your father and I were invited over by your mother for a... ménage à trois.”
>”What!?” Loan exclaims.
>”You could join in if you wish. Your mother might be adverse, but I’m okay with it, I’m a cool aunt.” Lucy adds.
>”N-no, thanks.” Loan stammered as she rolled out of the way of a tail swipe.
>She then went into another charged and swung, slaying the beast.
>”Oh, no! Devil Joe! Why’d you kill him?”
>”W-well, I was hunting him. I need his tail to make a new sword.” She sighed, they didn’t get the tail cut this time either.
>”But he wasn’t doing anything to you until you showed up and started attacking him.” Lucy protested.
>”He was wrecking the environment, aunt Lucy. He’s too big.” Loan said as analyzed her decorations, trash.
>”I thought he was cute.”
>”He has fans. I like Val Hazak a lot.”
>”Oh? That has the sound of an arch demon!” Lucy said a bit excitedly.
>”He’s cool. He wears other monster’s skin and spits out poison.” Loan says as she loads up another quest for Deviljho.
>”Quite interesting...” Lucy replies.
> A moment passes and Loan finds another Deviljho.
> “Is that Val Hazak?” She asks.
> “No, it’s Deviljho again.” Loan says as she mounts the monster.
>”But the last one was Devil Joe.” Lucy says as she sits again.
>”Val Hazak is a different monster.” Loan says, cutting into the tail. The next chop should get it.
>”So you hunt the same monster over and over?” Lucy says as Loan’s character does a flip with their sword.
>”Not always, but a lot, yes.” Loan suggests.
>”Can I try?” Lucy asks.
>Loan sits silently for a moment.
>”What about Lincoln and my mom?” Loan responds
>”They’re not home yet.” The tail comes off and Jho goes tumbling forward.
>”How’d you get in?” Loan asks genuinely, she doesn’t remember hearing the door close.
>”I have a key.” Lucy says matter-of-factly.
>”Do I want to know why?” Loan says as she carved into the chunk of monster tail.
>”Not really.” Lucy shrugs.
>”Let me finish this hunt and I’ll start up a new file...” Loan sighs.
