  5. UNDERSTANDING TERRORTOWN
  6. This is a gamemode that relies solely on good players and even better communication. It's only as good as the people you play it with so keep in mind that efficient call-outs and general communication as well as knowledge of the gamemode and how it’s meant to be played will benefit everyone’s overall experience. You can press F1 and read through the tutorial tab for general gameplay help.

  9. UNDERSTANDING ROLES
  10. Detectives: Use your tools to analyze information and DNA from dead bodies for sufficient evidence to kill off the traitors.
  11. Innocents: Stay alive and do your best to assist detectives in identifying bodies, calling a detective and using call-outs.
  12. Traitors: Kill all innocents and detectives by any means necessary without being compromised. Manipulate and lie.

  15. GENERAL NEWCOMER PLAYER HELP

  17. The button "U" will allow you to text chat to traitors only or detectives only depending on your role.

  20. HOW TO USE YOUR DETECTIVE DNA SCANNER
  21. Switch to your DNA scanner then press E on a body.
  22. To remove DNA, right-click with your DNA scanner out and click remove DNA.

  25. UNDERSTANDING KILL ON SIGHT
  26. Kill on sight is a means to call a player out for being a traitor; usually a last ditch effort to have others recognize this player as evil before he or she is killed by them or if they saw the person commit a traitorous act. Be weary though because a good traitor can trick you into believing others are traitors by using this very same tactic so it's up to you to fwork with detectives by identifying bodies and calling detectives to them for DNA.

  29. REASONS TO KILL ON SIGHT

  48. SERVER RULES & GUIDELINES
  49. 1. We are all friends here so keep it that way or leave. If you're here to troll we'll know and if you aren't willing to work towards resolving an issue then you're not welcome here. We just want to enjoy playing this game without people fighting and starting drama. Take that bullshit elsewhere.

  51. 2. Do not disrespect other players. If you have an issue with another player work to resolve it instead of making it into conflict.

  53. 3. Keep communication focused on gameplay during rounds. Chatter is allowed for when you're dead unless a staff is handling a report and needs to contact a player.

  55. 4. You must have adequate proof to kill a player; study this MOTD for more information. Random death matching (RDM) is NOT allowed.

  57. 5. Do not kill AFK players. There is a timer that will move them to spectate automatically. It messes up rounds when innocents kill other innocents and causes confusion.

  59. 6. Do not traitor bait. You can be punished for doing it. Essentially performing any act that is intentionally done to make others think you're a traitor when you're innocent.

  61. 7. Try not to prop damage or kill other innocents or detectives as an innocent or detective. If you happen to kill another innocent or detective then you may be slain depending on the circumstance and or situation.

  63. 8. No unwarranted call-outs. You must have a legitimate reason regarding a call-out on another player or player(s). Study the MOTD for more information on viable call-out reasons.

  65. 9. Ghosting and meta gaming is strictly prohibited, we actively look for trace hints of ghosting and meta activity. If caught, you will be permanently banned from the server.

  67. 10. Do not camp or delay rounds. You must be actively playing the game. You cannot claim areas or rooms - this includes overtime aswell.

  69. 11. No illegible, duplicate or offensive names. Names must be english based and cannot be alt-coded beyond the point of legibility. Players must be able to efficiently call your username out.

  71. 12. There are no detectives orders. People do not have to respond to getting traitor tested, live checks, ammo checks, or why they are injured. A detective can however prevent you from destroying a health station, tester machine or component for the tester machine upon request. Failure to comply leads to death but this cannot be abused for the sole purpose to target and troll another player.

  73. 13. You MUST use a player's username as a basis to suspicion or kill on sight another player, not their playermodel or cosmetic items.

  75. 14. Never kill on sight based on locations, you are allowed to suspicion a location however. Killing on sight on locations is never accurate and leads to players being wrongfully killed.

  77. 15. Innocents cannot kill based on suspicion not even in overtime; read rule #19. Rule #15 is set in place for players to need adequate proof to kill players instead of them just being trigger happy. Analyze situations and don't act if you're unsure as you're held accountable for your actions. Situations may vary and it is normally left to the on duty staff member whether or not a situation calls for punishment or a warning.

  79. 16. Traitors MUST make an effort to warn their comrades of any world traps or traitor weapons that will harm them ahead of time. It is mutual respect. Repeat offenses may result in punishment.

  81. 17. Do not exploit server or map glitches. You will be banned for it and sometimes without a prior warning.

  83. 18. Innocent players are not allowed to use traitor weapons to harm another innocent player.

  85. 19. Only detectives can kill on sight for logic based high suspicion but only in overtime and can only be done once per round. Situations may vary and if found to be abused it is up to a staff member's discretion as to how you could be punished. Should be used logically not as a means to troll or target another player constantly.

  87. 20. Do not spam "E" on doors for the purpose to lock someone in or out. This is not allowed.

  89. 21. Absolutely no use of hacks or cheats in this server. If you are caught you will be permanently banned with no chance of being unbanned through an appeal or protest.

  91. 22. DDoS threats or extortion of any kind will result in your immediate permanent ban with your IP logged for future reference.

  93. 23. Targeted harassment and extensive bullying is not tolerated and will be punished accordingly.

  95. 24. Do not shoot explosives if you are an innocent or detective.

  98. ADITTIONAL USEFUL GAMEPLAY INFORMATION
  99. 1. Players are allowed to carry identified bodies.
  100.  
  101. 2. Players are not allowed to carry un-identified bodies.
  102.  
  103. 3. Unidentified body carrying could be a traitor trying to get rid of DNA.
  104.  
  105. 4. If you see a player carrying a body, alert the detective and others while informing that player to cease what he's doing or he'll be killed on sight. Give the player a chance to correct his or her behavior.

  107. 5. Players are to be put on suspicion not kill on sight when they do not respond to livechecks as it is way too inaccurate. Certain situations do apply but is left at staff discretion depending on context.

  109. 6. Mark players with your scoreboard if they are proven, traitor or suspicious by pressing TAB and left-clicking on their name. This is useful for live-checks as well.

  111. 7. Players actively using their microphones must have headphones on or they will be muted due to reverb.

  113. 8. Players with low quality microphones will most likely be muted to preserve gameplay communication.

  115. 9. Try announce your innocence or call KOS against the player shooting you when in a firefight as it'll help indicate to others what's happening and why. If two players are in a firefight, it's normally best to just sit back and watch instead of helping because you don't know who is the traitor.

  117. 10. In the event two players are in a firefight and one of them dies, simply check the body or force the other player to do it as it's more accurate this way and always analyze situations because trigger happy tendencies will most likely lead to you being punished for not playing the game properly.

  119. 11. Players should always reconsider acting in a firefight situation if they are unsure who is the traitor, this can result in assisting traitors accidentally which is why it's best to just check the body after the fight is over rather than make a judgement call based on suspicion.

  121. 12. Be weary of call outs, sometimes it can be the traitor trying to deceive you. To with your gut instinct on weather you want to act on it but I tend to always ask the reason why unless I see why a player is being issued KOS for myself.

  123. 13. Innocents who find detective or traitor weapons should call it out and either give it to the detective, discard or keep hidden to avoid being confusion killed and remember to always test twice to ensure traitors do not sabotage and kill one of your fellow innocent pals.

  125. 14. It's best to never kill based solely on suspicion but on logic and supported evidence. Coincidences can be used to build a case against another player but not to be acted on immediately as a kill on sight unless it falls under the reasons to kill on sight category.

  127. 16. Players should not be shooting their guns off without a valid reason to do so as it may result in being tagged for traitor baiting; after two warnings they can be killed on sight for it if it's within reason and not a means to kill intentionally just to troll.​​​

  131. 18. Traitors are allowed to lie and manipulate others into killing innocents. They can call falsified kill on sights in order to play their mind games.

  133. 19. You cannot force someone to check a body or they're killed on sight. You can however put them on suspicion for failing to comply. This applies to both detectives and innocents.

  135. 20. Be weary of shooting your gun off for no reason as it can get you wrongfully and mistakenly killed.

  138. TRAITOR BAITING INFORMATION AND EXAMPLES
  139. You must have at-least (2) warnings prior to issuing a kill on sight order. Try to comply with players in situations where you are warned as it can result in you being killed on sight if you fail to comply.Make sure to announce that you're tagging a player for KOS/TBAIT and the reason why.Traitor baiting is performing any act that is intentionally done to make others think you're a traitor when you're innocent.

  141. 1. Traitor baiting is the any act of making player(s) feel that you might be the traitor when you're not.

  143. 2. Traitor baiting can include damaging a health station. If a player is dumb enough to do this then it's within reason.

  145. 3. Traitor baiting can include proclaiming that they are a traitor if innocent. If players want to take that risk, that is on them.

  147. 4. Traitor baiting can include pushing players with crowbar near cliffs or drop-offs or love tapping with the crowbar which does damage. It's up to the user's discretion.

  149. 5. Traitor baiting can include shooting near, around, in the air and on the ground as an innocent without valid reason. Players should not be discharging their weapon for no reason.

  151. 6. Traitor baiting can include intentionally door blocking a player or preventing them from entering or leaving an area. Situations vary like if there's a bomb and you're trapped then it may change the tides of a report against you for killing someone who is blocking and you didn't warn.

  153. 7. Traitor baiting can include setting off map traps that are not traitor only but accessible to all if innocent. If they kill someone or damage someone it can become kill on sight.

  155. 8. Traitor baiting can include throwing props, prop pushing, carrying explosive barrels and exploding barrels if innocent. If they damage you with a prop it can become kill on sight.

You hereby agree and understand these terms and conditions upon connecting to this server that you are held accountable for your own actions on your account and will be punished if found necessary. Staff reserve the right to use their discretion to punish misbehaving players as they see fit according to the situation as it varies. Players reserve the right to record any staff behavior they deem is abusive or misconduct for ban requests which can lead to resignations or demotions. It is important that players who wish to play here follow the server rules and work towards a positive reputation in this community just as much as it's important for staff who wish to keep their positions as staff to use their authority respectfully, fairly and without abusive tendencies. We will always do our best to provide this community with capable individuals who are free of character flaws in order to promote a standard of quality that everyone can enjoy.
