  1. KH2 Keyblades and Their Purposes
  2.
  3. Before reading through all of this, remember that it's not all about the stats that a keyblade has and you also need to keep the abilities they have in mind since there is no "best" keyblade in the game which depends on what situation you are using them in.
  4.
  5. Kingdom Key
  6. - Stats are 3 Strength, 1 Magic, and the ability it has is Defender in KH2 while it's Damage Control in KH2FM. This keyblade is useful on higher difficulties and sometimes on a lower difficulty if you're low leveled. Since Damage Control halves the damage taken while in Critical HP, you won't be able to die as easy as you would with a different keyblade equipped. Kingdom Key is useful for the majority of the game if you want to go through fights safely.
  7.
  8. Oathkeeper
  9. - Stats are 3 Strength, 3 Magic, and the ability it has is Form Boost, which increases the duration of a Drive Form you are in. This keyblade is mostly only useful if you intend to use Drive Forms a lot for battle and movement along with leveling Drive Forms.
  10.
  11. Oblivion
  12. - Stats are 6 Strength, 2 Magic, and the ability it has is Drive Boost, which allows the Drive Gauge to restore quickly during MP Charge. Other than brute strength, this keyblade doesn't really have a purpose other than getting your Drive Gauge back to max while your MP is recharging. At this point in the game if you lose Drive Gauge after leaving a form or summon, you will most likely have the Cerberus Cup unlocked at this point anyways, so you can easily just go there to restore all of your Drive Gauge considering your get Oblivion near the end of the game. In KH2FM, you can also easily farm Drive Recoveries from Mushroom No. 11 in Timeless River by using Wisdom Form to negate having to restore your Drive Gauge since Drive Recoveries recover 3 Drive Gauges per usage. Although it does look cool, this is probably one of the worst keyblade in the game.
  13.
  14. Star Seeker
  15. - Stats are 3 Strength, 1 Magic, and the ability it has is Air Combo Plus, which increases maximum combo by 1 when in midair. This keyblade is mostly useful if you are fighting an aerial enemy and use aerial combos. This is also useful for leveling Valor Form since it levels up on how many times you hit an enemy.
  16.
  17. Hidden Dragon
  18. - Stats are 2 Strength, 2 Magic, and the ability it has is MP Rage, which restores MP relative to the amount of damage taken. This keyblade doesn't really have a purpose other than either intentionally equipping this over Kingdom Key to be able to die easier against Cerberus to bring Mickey out and to intentionally get hit to restore some MP which isn't a good idea on higher difficulties. When equipped with 4 Shadow Archive+'s, this can greatly restore MP when you get hit.
  19.
  20. Hero's Crest
  21. - Stats are 4 Strength, 0 Magic, and the ability it has is Air Combo Boost, which increases the damage of the finishing move in the air relative to the number of hits in the combo. This keyblade, like Star Seeker, is useful if you're fighting an aerial enemy and use aerial combos. Only difference though is that Hero's Crest has 1 more Strength than Star Seeker and increases your damage during aerial combos. One of the best examples for this keyblade in a fight is against Xigbar.
  22.
  23. Monochrome
  24. - Stats are 3 Strength, 2 Magic, and the ability it has is Item Boost, which increases the effect of restoration items used on the field by 50%. Since the Item Boost abilities stack, this can essentially make Ethers into Elixirs which 1 Ether can mostly restore all of your MP during MP Charge. This means you can spam limits such as Trinity Limit and Knocksmash.
  25.
  26. Follow the Wind
  27. - Stats are 3 Strength, 1 Magic, and the ability it has is Draw, which draws in nearby orbs. This keyblade is only useful to be able to pick up Munny, HP/MP/Drive/Struggle/other orbs easier. Since Draw increases range with how many Draw abilities you have equipped, this will be very useful for Mushroom No. 3 in Beast's Castle in KH2FM.
  28.
  29. Circle of Life
  30. - Stats are 4 Strength, 1 Magic, and the ability it has is MP Haste, which increasing MP restoration speed by 25% after MP is consumed. This is mostly only useful to make MP recover faster during MP Charge and that's it. This can also be used in combination of having 4 Full Bloom+'s equipped along with a MP Haste ability that you get from leveling Wisdom Form, a MP Hastera that you get from playing Critical Mode, and putting Ultima Weapon on a form increasing MP restoration speed to a total of 275%.
  31.
  32. Photon Debugger
  33. - Stats are 3 Strength, 2 Magic, and the ability it has is Thunder Boost, which increases damage done with thunder-based attacks by 20%. This keyblade is very useful when spamming Thunder along with spamming Magnet, especially when combined with 4 Shock Charm+'s. Equip this with 4 Shock Charm+'s for massive thunder damage! When farming synthesis items, you will most likely be using this keyblade while spamming Magnega + Thundaga to easily kill enemies.
  34.
  35. Gull Wing
  36. - Stats are 2 Strength, 3 Magic, and the ability it has is Experience Boost, which increases the amount of experience gained by 100% when defeating an enemy at a critical moment. This keyblade is only useful to quickly level up while at Critical HP and once you're at Level 99, this keyblade will be pointless.
  37.
  38. Rumbling Rose
  39. - Stats are 5 Strength, 0 Magic, and the ability it has is Finishing Plus, which allows finishing combo moves to be unleashed successively. This keyblade is useful for being able to use multiple finishers within one combo. Finishing Plus also stacks as well, allowing to use 4 finishers within a single combo.
  40.
  41. Guardian Soul
  42. - Stats are 5 Strength, 1 Magic, and the ability it has is Reaction Boost, which increases the amount of damage dealt from Reaction Commands by 50%. This keyblade is mostly only useful against enemies that prompts you to use Reaction Commands a lot, such as Hook Bats, Rapid Thrusters, Armored Knights, and Data Xaldin.
  43.
  44. Wishing Lamp
  45. - Stats are 4 Strength, 3 Magic, and the ability it has is Jackpot, which increases the drop rate of munny, HP orbs, and MP orbs. This keyblade is only useful when farming a lot of munny against Gamblers and while farming synthesis items when you're not spamming Thundaga.
  46.
  47. Decisive Pumpkin
  48. - Stats are 6 Strength, 1 Magic, and the ability it has is Combo Boost, which the greater number of combos landed, the more damage is dealt, leading to a strong finishing move. This keyblade is very useful when using a lot of ground combos, so you will most likely be using this keyblade a lot considering there's a lot of ground-based bosses, like almost all members of Organization XIII, Sephiroth, and Terra/Lingering Will.
  49.
  50. Sweet Memories
  51. - Stats are 0 Strength, 4 Magic, and the ability it has is Lucky Lucky in KH2 while it's Drive Converter in KH2FM, which increases the drop rate of drive orbs in place of munny. This keyblade is basically only useful while farming synthesis items in KH2 while it's only useful when leveling Master Form against Gamblers in KH2FM.
  52.
  53. Mysterious Abyss
  54. - Stats are 3 Strength, 3 Magic, and the ability it has is Blizzard Boost, which increases damage dealt with blizzard-based attacks by 20%. This keyblade is useful when spamming Blizzard on enemies, like Mad Rides and Data Axel.
  55.
  56. Sleeping Lion
  57. - Stats are 5 Strength, 3 Magic, and the ability it has is Combo Plus, which increases maximum ground-based combos by 1. This keyblade is mostly only useful for leveling Valor Form and making your ground combos a bit longer.
  58.
  59. Bond of Flame
  60. - Stats are 4 Strength, 4 Magic, and the ability it has is Fire Boost, which increases damage dealt with fire-based attacks by 20%. This keyblade is useful for leveling Wisdom Form and Final Form while spamming Firaga. This is also useful against enemies who are very weak against Fire, like Vexen, Zexion, and Demyx.
  61.
  62. Two Become One
  63. - Stats are 5 Strength, 4 Magic, and the ability it has is Light & Darkness, which makes it where you will always turn into Anti-Form when you enter a Drive Form during battle while having a chance of unlocking Final Form. This keyblade is only useful to unlock Final Form.
  64.
  65. Fatal Crest
  66. - Stats are 3 Strength, 5 Magic, and the ability it has is Berserk Charge, which increases Strength by 2 during MP Charge and enables combos to continue endlessly. The combo finishing move becomes unavailable. This keyblade can be obtained after finishing Goddess of Fate Cup in Olympus Coliseum, which can be unlocked after defeating Xemnas, completing Space Paranoids 2, and completing Pain & Panic Cup, Cerberus Cup, and Titan Cup. This keyblade is basically only useful for infinitely using Horizontal Slash and during some mini-games, such as Grandstander in Twilight Town, Mushroom No. 8 at Yen Sid's Tower, and Mushroom No. 9 at Radiant Garden.
  67.
  68. Fenrir
  69. - Stats are 7 Strength, 1 Magic, and the ability it has is Negative Combo, which decreases maximum ground and midair combos by 1. This keyblade can be obtained once Cloud faces off against Sephiroth in Radiant Garden shortly after you defeat Sephiroth. This keyblade is only useful if you plan to use 2 Negative Combos against Terra without any aerial finisher abilities to easily defeat him and during the Cargo Climb and Junk Sweep mini-games in Twilight Town.
  70.
  71. Ultima Weapon
  72. - Stats are 6 Strength, 4 Magic, and the ability it has is MP Hastega, which increases MP restoration rate by 75% once all MP has been consumed. This keyblade is obtained after making it from the synthesis shop once you pick up the Ultima Recipe from a chest in Twilight Town Mansion: Basement Corridor. Requires 7 Orichalcum+'s, 1 Orichalcum, 1 Mythril Crystal, 1 Dense Crystal, 1 Twilight Crystal, 2 Serenity Crystals, and 1 Energy Crystal. This keyblade is basically the upgraded version of Circle of Life, so like Circle of Life, this keyblade is only useful when spamming magic to the point where your MP is restoring very quickly. Maximum MP restoration with 4 Full Bloom+'s, MP Haste, MP Hastera, and the Circle of Life keyblade on a form can be at 275%.
  73.
  74. Winner's Proof
  75. - Stats are 5 Strength, 7 Magic, and the ability it has is No Experience, which disables the gaining of Experience. This keyblade is obtained from Mushroom No. 13 from The Great Maw in Radiant Garden after meeting all 12 Mushrooms' requirements. This keyblade's only purpose is if you're intending to use a lot of magic since it has the best magic stat in the game.
