  1. R4: Ridge Racer Type 4 FAQ
  2.
  3. Q: What's WR?
  4. A: 27:42 by Konasumi. Fun fact: He got this 20 minutes after I got my 27:45.
  5.
  6. Q: What's those 2 tricks at the start? Are they glitches?
  7. A: When I start a race and in the countdown I shift through my gears, I can start at the last one (4th, 5th, or 6th) and start at almost max speed of the car. This is a Rocket Start.
  8. After that, when I throw my car in front of 6th place and go faster than my car allows, this is a Boost Ride.
  9.
  10. Q: What causes a Boost Ride?
  11. A: Every car on the track starts in different positions, not the starting grid, and they need to get to their positions further ahead to make the race challenging. The catch is, 7th doesn't go faster, 6th does after a bit, which is when I start at almost max speed. This lets me get in front and take a ride at the speed 6th is going to reach the cycle. It's tough to keep 6th behind me, seeing as though, they are trying to pass.
  12.
  13. Q: Do the opponents drive on their freewill or a cycle?
  14. A: Cycle, until the player gets near them.
  15.
  16. Q: What's Any%
  17. A: Finishing 1st in the Grand Prix.
  18.
  19. Q: Why are you using a slower car than the fastest with more Top Speed?
  20. A: Drift cars suck. See my older R4 runs from over a year ago. This Grip car/team combo is only a couple of MPH slower, and grip cars take corners faster. This quote explains it all. From either GT5 or GT6's licenses. "You go much faster going forward, than sideways."
  21.
  22. Q: I never see your brake lights, do you ever brake?
  23. A: No, not once. Drifts or Grip Drifts can be started with letting off the accelerator the slightest bit, which is what I do the entire run.
  24.
  25. Q: What controller are you using?
  26. A: Namco neGcon. R4 handles every controller differently. Each better than the last, in this order: D-Pad, Dual Shock Analog, neGcon. The neGcon is the closest thing to a steering wheel in the size of a standard controller and is pure Analog. Speed not slowed through corners, and more maneuverability.
  27.
  28. Q: Why American version?
  29. A: Every other version is slower. JP can't skip cutscenes, and PAL is played at 50fps.
