- Twilight S-Link 6 (B)
- As you approach the library, you can hear muffled voices firing back and forth at one another. While difficult to make out who, considering the library's usual residents, you can probably guess.
- Do you really want to deal with the librarian and her assistant right now?
- >Yes
- >No
- [If No]
- You think better of interrupting their argument and continue on your way. You'll find somewhere else to spend your time.
- [If Yes]
- You pull open the door and wince as it audibly creaks. The sound carries easily through the mostly deserted library and silences the women, if only for a moment.
- Facing the door, Twilight is the first to spot you and is just as quick to avert her eyes. She's red-faced, a little out of breath, and very pouty.
- Miss Cheerilee, despite being more composed, somehow looks worse. Her hair is frazzled and her eyes are burning with an anger you aren't quite sure you can handle on your own. Once she sees you, her gaze narrows, her attention turning entirely to you.
- Miss Cheerilee: You! Get out of here!
- The older woman storms around the return desk and makes her way over to the door, waving her finger the whole while.
- Miss Cheerilee: I don't know what is going on between you and Twilight, and honestly, I don't want to know. But it stops here!
- With her eyes bulging out of her head, Twilight follows after the teacher and shakes her head.
- Twilight: Miss Cheerilee, you shouldn't be saying things like that!
- Miss Cheerilee: Twilight, I want you to stay out of this. I'm doing this for your own good. This-
- The teacher pauses, adopting a small look of disgust before she shakes her head
- Miss Cheerilee: This 'boy' is a terrible influence. He's making you act strange and your attention has been all over the place lately.
- You look between the two women, slowly beginning to piece together what is going on.
- >Option 1 - There's nothing going on with Twilight and I. You're mistaken.
- S-Link +0.2
- Twilight visibly flinches as you deny the claims, but keeps quiet. Miss Cheerilee doesn't seem to be buying it though.
- Miss Cheerilee: Am I, [Player]? I know Twilight was doing fine until you started coming to see her regularly. Now she's struggling to get the most basic of tasks done on time!
- Miss Cheerilee: On top of that, she's sidelined most of her studies and projects to boot! What else am I supposed to think?
- >Option 2 - I think we make each other better.
- S-Link +1
- From behind the teacher, you can see Twilight's concerned frown flip, ever so briefly, to a happy grin.
- Miss Cheerilee: You can't actually believe that!
- Miss Cheerilee jabs a finger in your direction, her gaze never faltering.
- Miss Cheerilee: Twilight is supposed to be one of the best students at Canterlot High School. How can you say something like that when her grades are slipping?
- >Option 3 - what concern is it of yours?
- S-Link +0.6
- Twilight's eyes bulge as you snap at the older woman. For a brief moment, Miss Cheerilee fumbles for a response, but is quick to recover.
- Miss Cheerilee: Do you hear yourself? Of course it's my concern, I'm her teacher!
- Miss Cheerilee: You've done nothing but serve as a distraction.
- Twilight: I think you've said enough, Miss Cheerilee.
- Twilight's expression returns to a steady frown as she steps in between you and the teacher. She seems quite serious as she glares at the taller woman.
- Twilight: I appreciate that you're concerned about me, but things aren't as bad as you think. [Player] is...
- Miss Cheerilee: [Player] is absolutely a negative influence on you! Your grades are slipping, you haven't done any work on your projects, and, and-
- Waving her hand in the air, Miss Cheerilee seems to get especially flushed as she struggles for the right words. Finally, she continues, in a smaller voice.
- Miss Cheerilee: Twilight. I know what you two have been doing in the library.
- The purple-haired student in front of you drops her arms, fingers visibly shaking. Miss Cheerilee averts her eyes from the both of you.
- Twilight: I don't know what you're talking about.
- It's a noble effort, but Miss Cheerilee shakes her head and sighs.
- Miss Cheerilee: Twilight, I know. I've even left a concerned message with your mother and-
- Twilight: You, WHAT?
- The violent snap of Twilight's seems to set the librarian back on her heels. She sputters, trying to maintain eye contact.
- Miss Cheerilee: Twilight, you've been acting out. I understand, I was a teenage girl too. But you can't let little things control you. You have so much to offer.
- Twilight: So you just, just go to my mother instead of talking to me about it?
- Miss Cheerilee: We've tried talking about it, several times already!
- Twilight: UGH! I cannot BELIEVE you!
- Stomping her foot, Twilight grabs you by the sleeve of your shirt and pulls you towards the door.
- Twilight: Come on, [Player]. I can't stand being here right now.
- Miss Cheerilee: Twilight-
- Twilight: I'm leaving.
- The teen's voice is flat and low, but still quiets Miss Cheerilee with ease. You watch as the older woman shifts about from one foot to the other, uncertain as to what she should do, while you are led back out into the hall.
- Once the door closes, Twilight finally lets some steam escape.
- Twilight: That... that bitch! I can't believe she would do something like that! I know things have bene weird, but-
- Still grumbling to herself, Twilight keeps a tight grip on your sleeve and pulls you down the hall. She's really heated, mumbling to herself.
- Twilight: Stupid Miss Cheerilee. Stupid library. Stupid, stupid, stupid...
- This continues until the two of you are close to the front of the school. Having had a little while to clear her head, Twilight at last turns to you with a smile.
- Twilight: Hey, I know that our usual meetup spot has been the library, but I don't think that's going to work anymore. At least, not for right now.
- Twilight: So, let's agree to meet somewhere a little more fun instead. Say, Sugar Cube Corner? We can treat it like a date!
- The words hang in the air for a brief moment before Twilight coughs and begins mumbling.
- Twilight: I mean, if you want. It's not actually a date, otherwise everything up until now would be a date. And it's not like I have anywhere else to go after school but there or home.
- Taking a deep breath, Twilight looks up at you with a smile.
- Twilight: So, yeah! From now on, I'll be a Sugar Cube Corner. We can hang out there and study together. Sound good?
- Option 1 - What if we want some privacy?
- S-Link +1
- Twilight takes a moment to catch your meaning, but as her cheeks color, she entwines her fingers with yours. Her smile, while teasing, seem a little anxious.
- Twilight: That, that's a pretty perverse question you're asking. What are you planning, [Player]?
- You lean down to whisper in her ear, but Twilight takes a half step back and giggles. Still, she keeps a tight grip on your hand.
- Twilight: On second thought, don't tell me. I-I kind of like the idea of a surprise. But, privacy, huh?
- Option 2 - What about if they're closed?
- S-Link +0.2
- Twilight raises an eyebrow and frowns.
- Twilight: You aren't planning on calling me out at all hours of the night, are you? I mean, I don't mind, but someone should do their studying before bedtime, don't you think?
- Twilight: But you aren't wrong. We can't always count on Sugar Cube Corner to be open. Hm...
- Option 3 - Won't that be a little loud?
- S-Link +0.6
- Flashing you a small smile, Twilight shrugs her shoulders.
- Twilight: I don't know, that might be a fun change of pace from that stuffy library. Maybe we can finally relax a little bit.
- After a moment, Twilight's brow furrows.
- Twilight: But I can see how that might be a distraction if we need to do something important. In that case...
- After a moment of thought, Twilight's eyes light up.
- Twilight: What about my house? I don't live too far away, and that would be a nice alternative to Sugar Cube Corner, don't you think?
- You nod in agreement, which make Twilight giggle in delight.
- Twilight: Then it's settled. I'll send you the address later, so feel free to drop by in the evenings. Just not too late, okay?
- You frown and ask Twilight about Miss Cheerilee calling her mother, to which the purple-haired girl laughs again and waves you off.
- Twilight: Relax. If Miss Cheerilee really did call my mom, then it's important that she sees you're a good guy. You want to keep hanging out, right? Then this is the best way to make sure that we can stay together.
- It's hard to argue with her, even if you aren't especially looking forward to your encounter with Mrs. Sparkle. Hopefully she isn't already too tainted by Miss Cheerilee's claims.
- Twilight continues to talk with you for a while longer, before you have to separate. It might be good for you to avoid the library for a little while as well...
