- Super Robot Wars Alpha Gaiden was developed over a super-brief timeframe, and we had to work over the New Year period. I insisted on sending the staff home for New Year's Day, and I was grabbing a quick power nap at the office when I heard someone inside. "Who's there?" I mumbled drowsily, and someone replied, "Just go back to sleep." After that, the sounds faded. I got up to check, and what did I find...?
- A bunch of snacks in the fridge, along with a note that read: "Hang in there. -[surname]" The surname vaguely rang a bell for me, so I asked my boss at the time about it and found out it was someone really high up the ladder in the parent company, who I'd never even personally met.
- Incidentally, I'd also received some snacks from the president of the company I worked for at the time before this happened. The final punchline to the story is that even after all that, the release date still got pushed back, and I ended up getting the third degree. ^_^;
- Addendum: Not that stories like this don't happen nowadays, but... I asked around later to find out why that higher-up was visiting our company on New Year's Day, and the answer I got was, "Because he expected no one to be there then."
