- In Chat, when you hover text in the window it shows on the status bar:
- [date time] [email protected]/
- When you hover a URL or nick, it shows that information on the status bar.
- At some point fairly recently, the former status bar information, [date time], stopped displaying.
- The latter status bar information continues to display.
- This occurs in my primary SeaMonkey 2.0 Profile, circa 9/24/2009, & I'm now running the current Trunk in that Profile.
- ---
- In a new Profile, I do not have the same issue.
- ---
- In diagnosing, I create a new empty Profile, & only copy over my existing /chatzilla/ directory.
- Open new Profile, cZ working as expected.
- Exit & I see a newly created /chatzilla.org/ directory (in the Profile).
- No clue on that, & have not been able to duplicate.
- ---
- Further diagnosing turns to extension conflict.
- Start copying extensions over 1 at a time, & testing.
- cZ works, works, works, works ... broken.
- Look to see what extension it is that broke it, & it is Chatzilla !?
- Now how does cZ break cZ when if I just copied it over, how was it even running before?
- ---
- SeaMonkey 2.x install, installs cZ into SeaMonkey installation directory.
- (Where does SeaMonkey 1.x install cZ into? Thinking must also be installation directory? In
- SeaMonkey 1, there was no concept of a Profile based /extensions/ directory.)
- ---
- At some point, quite a while back, I must have been running cZ 0985, notified of an update
- & rather then update directly, I downloaded /chatzilla-0.9.86-mz+fx+sm.xpi/. When I
- installed same, it must have (& I can confirm that it did) install into my /Profile/
- directory. That was around the end of 12/2009.
- ---
- Seemingly, since that time, I have had two cZ's, seemingly not causing any problem, until
- recently, with the disappears of [date time] information display on the statusbar.
- One cZ in SeaMonkey's installation/extensions directory. One in my Profile/extensions
- directory.
- ---
- Would seem that for SeaMonkey, a downloaded cZ .xpi, should ... not sure? Only
- install globally, into the SeaMonkey installation directory? Or should check to see
- if there is an existing version there, & if so, then only install there. If not existing,
- suppose a Profile install could be OK. But then what happens if you download & install
- a new SeaMonkey & this time do choose to install cZ. (I'm assuming cZ is de-selectable
- during a custom install.) Then the installer needs to check - for existing Profiles, &
- instances of cZ there, & figure what to do with that? ...
- ---
- cZ is treated differently (which I /realized/ today) & is different then Mail/News,
- Composer, in that it is an extension & can be added/removed through about:addons. (& is
- disabled in -safe-mode too, heh).
