1. It was morning, or at least, it was morning for Moondancer. She didn't know what time it was anymore and she didn't really care.. Moondancer slowly opened her eyes, a light, pained groan leaving her lips. Her blurred vision tugged her back to reality, no matter how much she'd rather stay asleep. A few blinks of her eyes brought to light soreness and tingling around them. Another restless night. The bags under her eyes were never really going to go away, but what did it matter anymore? She knew no one was going to come see her anyway.
2.
3. Moondancer slowly called on her aching muscles to roll her out of bed, each one groaning right back at her after the lack of rest. Her joints shot a quick jolt of annoyance to her brain as she unceremoniously hit the floor. She wondered why she was even still doing this. As a habit, the faint sunlight peeking through her blackout curtains meant she could go out and get food at the market and a few books from the library today, which was slightly better than waking up at night. The lack of any sunlight just meant another night alone, poking through old books or staring at the ceiling until her body decided it was finally time to sleep again.
4.
5. But the question remained in her head: why?
6.
7. As she patted around the sheets for her glasses, it was all she could think about. What was even the point? The same path through all the old books and crumpled up paper of her house, the same library with the same books, the same ponies who never even bothered to look at her. It was all the same pathetic existence. Moondancer shook her head as she flipped over her cheap white sheets to find the blurred outline of her glasses. There wasn't any goal to anything she did. Just another day of existing.
8.
9. Moondancer's horn lit up to raise the glasses up to her eye. A sudden ray of light slipped through her curtains and hit her newfound vision, making her take a step back into a stack of worn books. If the sudden naseau and dizziness from the flash wasn't enough, the sound of the carefully stacked books by her bedside clattering to the floor shook her senses. It wasn't even loud, but Moondancer let out a frustrated groan anyway.
10.
11. She kicked the books to the side, letting them slide across the wood to displace the piles of unwashed clothes and trash she hadn't bothered to clean up in months. Who really cared anymore? Though the thought of fishing through this refuse to find the books she needed to return was enough to build up irritation inside her again.
12.
13. And there it was. The familiar headache as the stress of the day started. The uncomfortable throbbing in the middle of her brain just served to remind her how she wasn't still asleep. The sweet solace of her dreams was over and she'd have to push through the day and deal with this just getting worse. The crowds of ponies, the endless bright lights, the incessant laughing and cheering coming out of all these Canterlot ponies grating on her. Just the thought made the headache even worse.
14.
15. Moondancer closed her eyes and rubbed her temple. She had to go out today--she had a library book to return and she'd run out of food yesterday. She didn't have a choice, unless she wanted to pay a fee out of her dwindling supply of bits.
