“Gotcha!” said Jodah grimly, and Jaya realized that this image was the real archmage, but by that time it was too late.

Jodah smashed the mirror against Jaya’s forehead, driving the shards of the mystic glass deep into her flesh and skull. When the mirror shattered, the spark within exploded deep into Jaya’s mind, spreading outward in a nimbus of power, encapsulating both the giant task mage and her archmage assailant. Both were lost from view in a new sun.
