  1. I have received the request for an additional payment to be made. I am quite outraged that not only was the house in an extremely poor condition upon arrival, but we were forced to leave our stay early as a result for a concern for our personal safety. Upon reading the grounds of the claim, I can assure both Airbnb and the host that NO marijuana was used or smoked during the time of our stay. On a personal note, myself and one other guest are both asthmatic and refrain from partaking in any activities that involve smoking to begin with. The other guests are aware of this health condition, and have always respected our wish that they do not smoke near or around us. In addition, the host mentioned that the beds were used, but where else did she expect paying guests to sleep? That claim alone resembles an enormous amount of disrespect on the host's behalf. As I mentioned previously to the host, upon arrival the hardwood and carpet was in very poor condition with a number of stains, scratches, and visible signs of dirt. There was a foul chemical odor in the kitchen, and there were numerous additional damages throughout the house that were noted. These are all on top of the fact that the host never mentioned the house was NOT fully renovated and therefore there were a number of hazards we were unaware of prior to booking our stay. It is evident that this residence has not been properly maintained and had in fact been used for large gatherings in the past. In regards to the incident with the window, we have clear pictures showing that there are glass shards on the inside of the house, footprints in the snow leading up to the window, along with a metal pipe that was not originally in the house. This CLEARLY indicates that the window was broken from the outside. We were asleep at the time of the incident so the only rational explanation is that a potential intruder had caused this damage. In an effort to ensure the safety of myself and the other guests we chose to leave as soon as possible and contacted the host right away. The host mentioned there were no signs of intrusion in the backyard, yet in HER OWN photos there are CLEAR pictures of footprints leading from the porch to the back window. Regardless, the nature of the break in the class shows it was broken from outside the house. The damages caused to the house are not subject to the concern of myself or the other guests are we were simply a victim of an awful and traumatizing Airbnb experience. I also would like to mention that based on the nature of the host’s previous reviews and her lack of communication during this entire process, I strongly believe that I am a victim of an ongoing scam on the host’s behalf. With numerous indicators as to how the window was broken, along with how poorly the house was maintained and kept upon arrival, it is evident that at this point the host is trying to shake us down for more money. Previous reviews from other guests can attest to the host’s character and the lack of maintenance in the house. As a user of Airbnb’s services I could not be more disappointed with the manner in which this situation occurs and is being handled.
