Uri - The Loss of a Student

A little hint of a hunt was all it took... Sanna had informed Uri of a threat being outside of the gate, and though, he'd normally disregard it as a Knight issue due to him being a pirate and his grudge against certain efforts going without merit. This was special, for it was his own student, Caila, standing outside the gates of Osrona... She was serious, she truly did want Osrona to fall, something Uri thought he could talk her out of, to guide her on the right path again. Did he fail as a teacher? It felt as if the past was hitting him with a sense of karma. When he faced his own master and now, he would face his own student however... He was stopped by those around him, in the events of the other enemy, Sythaeryn possibly being out there, lurking about, Osrona finally showed that they cared for ones life. But at the moment when this person, Uri wanted to fix the issue himself, to bring sense to his old student  and now a dragonlord of Theria...Caila, his little dance partner for fun.


[10:44] Sanna Arborea says, "Uri do you mind coming with me outside the gates for a moment? I want to check something."
[10:44] Eric Blacke says, "Morning Granny, Morning Uri."
[10:44] Sanna Arborea says, "Quick in and out."
[10:44] Uri Sanctum says, "Alright."
[10:45] Sanna Arborea whispers: I saw someone who was probably Sythaeryn by the quarry earlier
[10:45] Sanna Arborea whispers: and Caila was literally right outside our gates
[10:46] Uri Sanctum says, "Though that sounds like a knight issue..."
[10:48] Turning to see Uri and Sanna. This time around Caila was incredibly more calm if not happy.

"Hello, Uri, Sanna. Nice to see you both. I'm not here for either of you... however. I'm here for others." She stated plainly. Without much need to further explain herself. She turned and stood in the position the duo had seen her in prior. With a wave of her hand she remained there in silence.

[10:48] Sanna Arborea whispers: back inside?
[10:51] He tilts his head. "That really you? Caila?" He spots what looks like a halo. But then turns around with Sanna to return into the gates. It was clear, and if the guards didn't do anything. Then Uri wouldn't see a reason to ask an on friend to leave.

It was a Knight issue, for those who were just given nobility off the bat while they've died for nothing.

There was no probable cause here.

[10:52] Xyth asks, "Whats happening?"
[10:52] Sanna Arborea whispers something.
[10:53] Uri Sanctum whispers: Theria's getting bold...

[10:53] Uri Sanctum whispers: Sanna told me she spotted Sytheryn in the woods and Caila, as I just saw was standing there waiting for a knight to arrive.
[10:53] Sanna Arborea says, "I'll be by the front gates till the knights are informed."
[10:53] Elora Renae Otho asks, "Do nothing out of haste. Do not approach them. Am I clear?"
[10:53] Sanna Arborea says, "Not leaving the gates."
[10:53] Uri nods.

[10:54] Elora Renae Otho asks, "Mister Blacke, would you accompany me please?"
[10:54] Eric Blacke exclaims, "O-oh sure!"

[10:55] Elora Renae Otho says, "Ah, right then. Be safe, do not approach nor engage unless you absoltuely must."

[11:02] Elora Renae Otho says, "I cannot find any of the other Knights or Radiant."
[11:02] Sanna Arborea says, "For the time being I can wait."

[11:03] Eric Blacke asks, "Is there anything I can do to help out?"
[11:03] Sanna Arborea says, "Too many young mages and cadets around, can't leave them in case something happens."

[11:03] Elora Renae Otho says, "Yes, Eric, help us in searching for a Knight or Radiant. From within the walls."
[11:04] Eric Blacke asks, "Are we sure they're here?"
[11:04] Sanna Arborea asks, "Are you suggesting every knight and radiant left Osrona at the same time?"
[11:05] Eric Blacke asks, "It's not ethical.. But who knows, maybe there was a patrol today?"
[11:05] Eric Blacke asks, "They're not in the streets are they?"
[11:05] Sanna Arborea says, "Its highly unlikely."
[11:05] Xyth says, "Can't be too sure on it really"
[11:05] Uri strolls on over to the gates.

[11:07] Uri Sanctum says, "Just looking back at past memories."
[11:07] Xyth says, "Uri...not need to get PTSD On us now"
[11:07] Uri was focused on finding a set of wings and white hair.

[11:09] Uri didn't answer... Was too deep in thought.

[11:11] Sanna Arborea says, "Its dangerous outside right now."

[11:11] Grey asks, "Uh. Elaborate?"
[11:11] Xyth says, "Dangerous person my be outside"
[11:11] Grey blinks, looking between Uri and Sanna.

[11:12] Uri spits fire on the ground to give him an idea.

[11:12] Elora Renae Otho says, "No luck. I believe they're busy or otherwise occupied."
[11:12] Sanna Arborea says, "Damnit."
[11:12] Grey asks, "Are they - pinned down?"
[11:12] Uri Sanctum asks, "Tell me, what else spits fire Grey?"
[11:12] Grey asks, "At least?"
[11:12] Uri Sanctum says, "No."
[11:12] Grey asks, "...Dragon? Demon?"
[11:13] Xyth asks, "Uri...why are you beating around the boost?"
[11:13] Grey tilts their head, brows furrowing.

[11:16] Uri shakes his head, thinking about Caila…

"Little dancer, how I wonder, about the lies they've told you.." He took out a picture drawn, of him and Caila when he first began to train her. And on the back, her declaration to not be a pirate, but to be someone capable of defending the innocent...

The innocent... That word ranged in Uri's head...

Who was she protecting if she were here? Surely, there had to be a reason...

Was the world so cruel to him, that it'd pin him against his student as he was pinned to slay his own master?

Uri thought in silence, slowly making his way to the gate, facing a heart aching swing of memories from when Caila was young. When times were simpler and the little drakanite would moon walk with him for fun when they weren't training...

"Not bad kid," he spoke under his breath.

[11:17] Eric would sit with his sword removed from its sheathe, watching the gate closely as he rested the blade on his lap. A nervous bead of sweat dripping from his forehead to his nose.

Gaurd duty so soon and against such a high stakes threat.. Why wouldn't the Knights or the Radiants show up?? Glancing over to Granny Elora he'd stiffen up and swallow his fear.

"As long as I'm in front of this gate I wont let a single threat enter the city! I'll stand proud and strong." He'd state in a way to psyche himself up as he stood up from the bench quickly, his sword clanging to the cobblestone as he forgot it was on his lap!

Clumsily clambering for his sword on the ground he'd grasp the hilt and stiffen up straight.. He was still a coward at heart.. But he had a job to do.

[11:18] Sanna Arborea asks, "And if there's more than her out there?"
[11:18] Eric Blacke says, "I cant let you leave Uri."
[11:18] Uri Sanctum says, "If I run into the other one... Or my student shall fight me, I'll survive,,,"
[11:18] Sanna Arborea says, "This is foolhardy and you know it."
[11:18] Sanna Arborea says, "Listen to your Sannie on this one. I've made so many stupid mistakes."
[11:19] Sanna Arborea says, "You'll get a chance for resolution."
[11:19] Grey shakes their head, before turning around.

[11:19] Sanna Arborea says, "Maybe. I saw someone who could be Sythaeryn earlier tonight."

[11:24] Xyth would grab Uri by the back, pulling him back hard and using his gravity magic to constrict his movements, keeping him in place with heavy gravity against his body. It wouldn't hurt him aside from the impact to the ground.

"Uri for Gods sakes..."

"I'm sorry... But even as a Captain... One cannot help but to try and help their loved ones...Their students, from going down the wrong path... I couldn't... Help myself mates," he stares at the ground, on his knees from the gravity...

"Forgive me..."

And then, he noticed...Caila flying away... They might've gotten tired of waiting for Knights to fight.

Uri shook his head. "I've failed her in guidance... Another sin of mine to bear..."

[11:26] Grey sits down on the bench, looking... shellshocked. Frozen in place, all aside from their eyes flicking back and forth, between the gates and those gathered.

Eventually, they find the will to - begin flipping a single coin between their fingers, idly.

"...So it goes."

[11:27] Elora Renae Otho says, "YOu did not fail her Uri. She chose the path she walks."
[11:28] Eric would give a heavy sigh as he fell to the ground in releif, sitting in front of the gate watching it closesly.. He didn't need to fight Uri, thank the stars. "Phew.. Now we just need to watch the gate until the Knights and Radiant come back."

He'd state as he stood back up, lifting his sword and resting it on his shoulder watching it closesly.

[11:29] She shook her head.

"Uri as someone who knows the path that Caila started on? It's on her. Those demons are ones you have to fight yourself. If she didn't keep on her path that's not your fault."

She knelt behind him and hugged her cousin, arms around his shoulders.

"Do not let regret rule you. Or you will lose everything trying to get back something that is best left to the past."

[11:34] Cetta Amor says, "Don't know what you guys are worried about, havn't seen anyone."
[11:35] After Sanna had hugged him... The young Captain began to shed a few tears... He looked at the ground. Yet another loss, as if the past was coming back onto him... Uri had to slay his teacher, because he was betrayed, and that same teacher became one of the bandits that attacked them on the bridge...

And now, his own student, had raised her blade against the walls and the innocents they swore to protect. Those they had bonded with over the years. Flames made to connect, now used to burn and destroy... Was this all the doing of Sythaeryn? Did he corrupt his student? Where was General Alya? Where were those Uri trusted to guide Caila after he had completed their training?

Where was the hope in it all?

He tugged onto Sanna's and Xyth's arms. For he would need to gather his strengths back. "Caila… My little moon-walker," Uri said in a serious tone... Already did he miss his student. Thinking she'd always stay on the path he guided her on.

His gaze turned to the sky once more. For she had ascended and long flew away.
