  1. Is Black Hat SEO being applied against my site?
  2. I do have an affiliate website that has been ranking rather well over the last 4 years. I got hit in the June algorithm update. In general, we really did not do much that does not align with Google's general guidelines.

  15. We did audit the site and we found
  16.
  17. 1- A site that has copied all of our site's content, we DMCAd the site and it was taken offline.
  18. 2- We had quite a number of backlinks and we disavowed the spammy ones.
  19. 3- We checked for duplicate content on our site
  20. 4- We did freshen up most of the content
  21.
  22. Regardless of that, we have been on a downfall since June. I cant really think of anything else that we can do.
  23.
  24. I have two questions
  25.
  26. 1- If a competitor is somehow applying Negative SEO, what else should I look at ?
  27. 2- See the below please
  28.
  29. I am signed up for Google alerts every time my site is mentioned somewhere. I have been getting these strange alerts that mention my site on lets say a Site called spamSite1.com. When I click on that Google alert link it takes me to spamSite2.com and there is no notion of my website at all on spamSite2.com .
  30.
  31. A few things to note
  32. A - The Spamsites are normally a one page wordpress site.
  33. B - SpamSite1.com and spamSite2.com are are always different sites. I.e. the site1 mention in the google alerts is never Site2. Site1 keeps coming up with new domain names in the alerts.
  34. C- I checked the source and there is no mention of my site name or URL
  35. D- My site name is not a generic word, so it is not a coincidence

  46. E- The final one page wordpress site does look legit and it is a landing page related to my affiliate business, with valid affiliate IDs "not mine".\
  47. F- A few these issues redirect directly to the target URL of my affiliate links - with another affiliate ID set. I.e. I click on the link in the alert which is let's say Spammylink1.com and takes me to LegitBusiness.com with the affiliate ID that is not mine in the browser bar.
  48. F - There are multiple different affiliate IDs that I could discover, so it is not just one affiliate or at least it does not appear to be so
  49. G- IMPORTANT If I do google the title of the Google alert as is with my brand name in it, I can see the site in question ranking first page above fold. This is SpammyLink1 which when clicked redirects to SpammyLink2. I have no idea how Google does index and rank the page when it redirects immediately to a site where there is no notion of my site.
  50.
  51. I have no idea how Google sees my site in the spamSite1.com to start with, as I never clicked on of those links mentioned when I cant see it. I am also not sure what the effect if any on my rankings is.
  52.
  53. Please let me know if you need me to clarify things.
  54.
  55. P.S. I am NOT sure if this is allowed here or not. But I am willing to pay a competent expert to help me with this. If this is NOT allowed, please do not delete my post, I will remove this statement .

  57. Hey, sounds tricky. what about your anchor profile? Might be too aggressive? regarding spamSite2.com, maybe it works with a redirect? then you wouldnt be able to see your url in the source code.

  92. Your case is very similar to many cases I've personally seen.
  93.
  94. In june they HAND targeted several niches. They demoted several high profile sites in specific niches.
  95.
  96. Of course they left Quora and friends at the top.
  97.
  98. Theres something fishy going on if you know what I mean.
