  1. “Welcome to the 8chan, the deepest in the Internet,” welcomes the international forum among many young people in Estonia.
  2.
  3. Networked World Wild West is not controlled by any force. Dozens of Internet communication channels - 4chan, 8chan, Reddit, Discord, etc. - are open for all communication and closed to the rules. Compared to their absolute freedom of expression in honest environments where hundreds of thousands around the world can hate and offend, Delfi's commentary is a shrine.
  4.
  5. “Hate speech is the biggest concern for these environments for police organizations around the world. For example, the minimal moderation of 8chani has led to the use of the environment to spread and promote right-wing messages, or as a place where pedophiles share experiences and information about child victims, ”says Maarja Punak, police and border police officer. Brenton Tarrant, who killed one hundred people in New Zealand, made his intentions before posting 8chan, where other users praised it. Half a month after the mass murder arrest, there are posts that glorify the murderer as a savior and redeemer of the white race, share the manifesto and process the image of Tarranti's face with Moses.
  6.
  7. "It's hard to predict if he's the first to go on his own or on the lives of others."
  8. Thousands of young people from Estonia are likely to come into contact with such ideas. For most, it's a joke. One of the many "assholes" - empty crushing, which provocatively moves over the shaft. In general, they are simply wound up and not stuck for longer. Hundreds, however, remain with these ideas. Considering the point, but it is important to emphasize that in general it is not about yourself. Comparison with Tarrant disturbs these young people. All right, they're in the same politically incorrect environment, but does it make them terrorists?
  9.
  10. They are characterized by anxiety, loneliness, world pain. They are deeply depressed and have lost all hope. Feeling cut off from society. It is a painful heart for the world that, in their opinion, drowns in trouble. "Technology, other Jews, women, the European Union, immigrants, Islam, capitalists, large corporations are disturbed by one," one of the active forum speakers lists the problems and objects of the Estonians.
  11.
  12. Last autumn, in the 8chan sister community 4chan, a melancholic and world-renowned young archetype - the doom, with which many radicalized young men identify themselves - went. Doomer is a word game of the English word doom, or ruin, which is a depressing revolutionary form of a joyful and vibrant young man - bloomer.
  13.
  14. The Doomer world is already a priori grim. His attitude to life is already pessimistic and joyful. Its awakened time is an outspoken existence, without daylight and always shining on the computer screen. Food has no taste, no love in life, world dystopia - gloomy and colorless. Doomer burns his life and doesn't let anyone help. She has found the most hidden places on the Internet and herself a companion of familiar depression and hopelessness.
  15.
  16. Young people's radicalization is a problem for those who are left alone - not even physically but mentally.
  17. "It's hard to predict if he will be the first to do his own or others' lives," says Mart (name changed - ed) for the most extreme cases. Mart has been in the dark communities of the internet for years, and it often happens to communicate with young people who have had problems. "In the case of radicals, we are not talking about cold-blooded murderers, but people who feel in the corner are in a psychologically complete slump and have not been helped in time," he explains. Young people living in isolation have been curious about the search for increasingly hidden places where people like themselves are found.
  18.
  19. Radicalization
  20.
  21. Young people's radicalization is a problem for those who are left alone - not even physically but mentally. Remain far from the family and detached from social contacts outside the online environment. Clinical psychologist Anna-Kaisa Oidermaa explains that in adolescence, it is the person's task to separate from the origin and to join the group with whom to create identity for themselves. He has also come into contact with young people like doom, who are looking for a definition. "The reason for radicalization is in real life, not on the internet," says Oidermaa. Young people's concerns begin with early childhood, the home environment, and the community. They are insecure in their identity and abilities and need support before they start looking for themselves on the Internet.
  22.
  23. "Because of this, any macho speech talks speak very well to confirm a certain masculine identity."
  24. There is nothing new to look for in subcultures. Ten or twenty years ago, there was one punk, the other one again a hippie or hipster. Owning a subculture depends on finding suitable friends. The Internet communities have stepped up these choices by leaps and bounds. A suitable lifestyle with like-minded people can be found on the right and left, apolitical, vegan and carnival. But, for example, in 8chan, a more political debate will arrive at the right head of swastikas, adoration of the white race and testosterone, and hatred of women.
  25.
  26. "I'm afraid that one article will not dispute this information, which will be much more intense and more frequent for young people - that everything is in the forest and take something - immediately and radically," says psychologist Odermaa. He explains that "looking for the elbow in a male sense" is to be a person or an idea that explains the existence of a man. "Because of this, all kinds of macho speeches speak very well to confirm a certain masculine identity," he says. Oidermaa says that young men with fragile male identity join groups that emphasize masculinity in a very stereotypical and negative sense.
  27.
  28. The consequence is that the young person cuts away from the rest of society and finds a suitable model for the communities. "Okay, you don't need me - I need you less," Oidermaa tries to formulate this way of thinking. "Run your case with those who speak one language with me."
  29.
  30. The police ask to report
  31.
  32. The Estonian police have had some cases to resolve in almost all of these environments. Years ago, a student wrote in an online forum called Reddit that she plans to go to school the next day and stab her in the temptation of the classmate. "His account was not named, his school name was not mentioned in his post, nothing in his account description referred to Estonia," says Maarja Punak, the online police officer. "It would have been difficult to filter out this information during the monitoring, but the person who knew enough information about the postman behind the user account informed the police," he adds. The police identified a young man, held him before scheduled stabbing, and was offered assistance in resolving the situation that caused tension.
  33.
  34. According to Punaku, topics related to 4chan and Discord have been rather insults and losers. "You will also remember one of the possible pedophile discussions and inappropriate picture sharing, such as racist or public figures," he says. "Problematic and much more serious extremist forums are, unfortunately, still in the world, including those where people have admitted to murder-driven murders."
  35.
  36. "In order for the police to be able to monitor this permanently, a huge resource or super program would be needed."
  37. According to Punaku, these are environments characterized by a large number of users from different countries who want to discuss such issues, joke, and find companions. “All members of these forums have no extreme views. There is also some moderation in most groups, ”he explains and adds that there is no large user population of these environments among Estonian people. On the other hand, it is difficult to evaluate Estonian users, because mostly groups and forums are closed, Estonians have not defined themselves as Estonians and they are written in English. “Although yes, compared to similar environments in Estonia, it is much more difficult to remove prohibited material. First and foremost, the Estonian administrators are more responsible and react quickly to particularly critical and unlawful posts, ”comments Punak.
  38.
  39. Although individual cases have been dealt with, the Estonian police in these environments do not carry out constant monitoring. "In order for the police to be able to permanently monitor and find information related to these environments about Estonia that poses a threat, a huge resource or super program would be needed," says Punak. If information about Estonia is received for a particular post, as much information as possible will be collected on the case and cooperation will also be made with foreign law enforcement agencies.
  40.
  41. “The most important recommendation and help to prevent such anger attacks is still noticing and reporting. If someone comes up with ideas that may pose a threat to someone's life and health, please let us know by calling 112 or web host. In any case, it is better to report than not to report. As policemen, we can evaluate the content of the post and the poster's potential motives based on our experience, background and training, and decide on further action, ”says Punak.
  42.
  43. Four prisoners made a prison in 4chan
  44.
  45. On November 24, 2009, an assistant student of Tartu, Janis 4chan, made an anonymous post in which he promised to make a record of bloody schooling in Tartu commercial school the next day.
  46. Young Estonians came to the post and shared it with Tartu friends and reported to the police. The police responded quickly after three short clues. The next day there was no lesson in Tartu Commercial Gymnasium.
  47.
  48. Anonymity didn't protect Jan, he was arrested on 27 November. Although the boy did not understand the danger of his act, as the prosecutor claimed, he was sentenced to three years' imprisonment for one month and 18 days.
  49.
  50. The final words of Janis in the interrogation were: "This page also contains the English text:" Only a foolish person believes in what is written here. "That's why I thought I wasn't taken seriously by anyone."
