The last bell of the day rang a few minutes ago. Despite weaving your way through packed hallways, crowded with students eager to get to club or head home, you barely remember how you ended up here. The halls have mostly emptied by now, but still you stand among the stragglers, staring at the door to the photography club. You can hardly believe what happened yesterday - at the end of swim club, you'd taken a little extra time in the showers to cool off. But someone else, it seems, was there as well. They'd snapped your photo a few times, the blinding flash preventing you from seeing their face, and ran out, leaving a note taped to the locker room door.

Inelegant, to be sure, but no less threatening. Your first suspicions jumped to those hooligans in the photography club - you'd barely met them, but the rumours about Danpachi, especially, couldn't be ignored in a situation like this. It was unlikely they were the masterminds - you couldn't think of a motive - but someone with a grudge could have hired them to take those photos. You had to get to the bottom of this, regardless.
Phatthrice:
You work up the courage to fling the door open, and find two people there. Sitting backwards on a chair in the middle of the photo-lined room was Danpachi, the hooligan himself. The other person you didn't recognize. Some scene-looking girl in her late teens to early twenties, with stark-white hair and amber eyes. Maybe Danpachi's girlfriend, if he was into that. She stood next to a black curtain that cordoned off an entire corner of the room, running the entire height of the wall, and you'd interrupted her mid-sentence. She pauses, then waves, greeting you in a peppy manner,

Safie:
"Oh, hey there! You didn't tell me you had a new member, Danjuro! With Takara gone, you must need all the help you can get, huh?"

Kaori:
Kaori stands in the doorway of the photography club, clutching her backpack strap with her left hand and the newspaper note in her right. She wasn't really expecting to see a stranger in the clubroom, not that she knew anyone in there particularly well, "Umm, hi...I'm...not a member."

Danjuro:
"Eh? Oh, hah, alright! Come on in! You here to sign up?"

Danjuro:

Danjuro:
"Yeah, not like I was LOOKING for the responsibility, just kind of got thrown onto me." He replies to Safie.

Safie:
"Y'ain't? Aw, well now that's a disappointment! Here I was thinking I'd have some more helping hands." she ducks into the curtain for a moment, riflign through a desk on the other side, and regards you in a muffled voice, "So, then...you n' Danjuro in a relationship? Sorry for takin' up your alone time!"

Kaori:
"Whaaaa?! No!" She marches into the photography club, "L-.Look! I need answers..!" She tries her best to sound particularly intimidating but it doesn't work too well coming from her completely not intimidating face.

Danjuro:
Danjuro smirks at this, letting Kaori stew in the embarrassment a bit. "Alright, alright, easy there. You want to take a packet while you're here anyway? The boss man really wants me to pass out as many as I can..."

Safie:
"...answers? Heeey! Danjuro! Don't tell me you're two-timin' me! I thought we had a deal here? Are you some kinda mercenary photographer now?? Ah, this is what happens when Takara ain't around..."

Kaori:
"No I don't want a packet! I want to know what the deal is with this!" She slams the note down on the table, "W-..who put you up to this, you pervert?!"

Safie:
She steps back out from the curtain, "So, what's your deal? You want 'em to do a wedding or someth--oh?"

Safie:

Danjuro:
Dandan gives her the archetypical hooligan sneer. "Ehh? What're you going on about?" He places his hand on the note and spins it around

Kaori:
Kaori folds her arms and taps her foot while she waits for the hooligan to trudge through the scrapbook note.

Danjuro:
His look softens as he goes over it

Kaori:
"I wanna know who did this...!" She's shouting, but her voice keeps cracking as if she were holding back tears.

Danjuro:
"Hoo. Alright. Hold on. Safie, could you get her a drink?"

Danjuro:
"Let's get you sat down."

Safie:
"Sure! What do you like? Milk coffee? Orange soda? Pocari sweat?"

Kaori:
"I-..I don't want a drink! What, are you going to discuss the terms of this blackmail with me?!" she snaps, puffing up her cheeks in a pout. It's very clear to everyone in the room that Kaori isn't exactly used to being angry or threatening.

Danjuro:
"I guess if you wanna call it that?"

Danjuro:
"Ain't me, girl, but you obviously need some help dealing with this problem ya got here."

Safie:
Safie's gaze alternates between Danjuro and Kaori, seemingly stunned, "Whoa...do you want 'em to, like, investigate this or somethin'? Did y'all expand to a detective club while I was gone??"

Danjuro:
"First step's going to be to calm down. That's what the drink's for."

Danjuro:
"Nah, Safie, this one's just up my alley."

Danjuro:
"Can't turn down a pretty face, you aughtta know that!"

Kaori:
"Hwhaaah...? I...I just figured..." her face flushes red. "You really aren't behind this...? No...of course not..." She clenches her fists, "I...I didn't know who to ask...or who was behind this...I-..." Kaori stares at the floor of the club, "I guess I was just hoping it was that easy..."
Kaori: (( Y'all got any of that placenta water? ))

Safie:

Danjuro: (( that sounds baaaad. ))
Kaori: (( Me, waking up at 3:43am to chug a bottle of placenta water. ))

Safie:
Safie leaves you alone with Danjuro, which I'm sure is very comforting, and returns with somma that, "Figured anythin' out yet?"
Danjuro: (( What was Safie doing in here anyhow? Commissioning photos for a story? ))

Safie:

Kaori has calmed down a bit, but she's still a little sniffly, understandably so, "I'm sorry about all that...I didn't know who to turn to...I just assumed it was someone in the photography club or like...they paid you to or something..." She hugs her Hiyo Neko backpack while staring at the table in front of her, still clearly embarrassed.

Danjuro:

"Not my kind of job, man. You ain't done anything to deserve this, I'd know."

Danjuro:
"Kaori, right?

Kaori:
"Y-..yes!" She seems a bit startled that you know her name offhand, "And you're Danpachi-san, c-..correct?"
Safie: (( You've heard of similar letters being found by other girls around school; members of the track team, archery club, etc. They all had pretty similar requirements, and rumour is this is why girls have been dropping out or transferring recently, too. That said...this looks pretty amateurish. Headlines and words are used almost in full, from local newspapers, and the magazine clippings are all pretty clearly from one 'zine. Seems like a girl's one, though, and like hell you read that prissy shit. ))

Danjuro:
"Well, yeah, if you want to go all formal like that..." he says, sheepishly, scratching his head. "Usually just go by Dandan."

Danjuro:
"Huh. Y'know, it's not MUCH to go on, but - Safie, you recognize this rag? Most of it's coming from the same place."

Safie:
"Ah? Lemme see.... Oh wow, they even left in parts of the pictures! Yeah, I recognize it - did a piece for it, actually. It's a pop science magazine aimed at girls. I wouldn't'a thought there'd be too many kids here interested in it, though."

Safie:
"You all seem more like the fashion mag type or somethin'."

Kaori:
"Why me though...?" She lowers her face into her backpack as Hiyo Neko's weird mouthless gaze stares directly into your soul.

Danjuro:
"You been kicking ass out there lately?"

Safie:
"Ya made any enemies lately? Any girls, especially?"

Safie:
"Or...they want ya to flunk out, right? You got any academic rivals?"

Danjuro:
"It's been going around, anyway... lots of girls dropping out of their clubs. I wouldn't mind putting a stop to this shit."

Safie:
"Oh, izzat so? Huh... Well in that case, good news, it ain't just you! So maybe they ain't got a grudge against you specifically. Have ya checked out the crime scene yet?"

Danjuro:
"I was gonna guess she rushed here after gathering up the courage to say something."

Kaori:
"Ahhhh, I mean...maybe? I usually score near the top percentile on exams..." She looks from Safie to Danjuro, "Mhm, I came here once I collected myself but...obviously that didn't work...all I know is that when they took the pictures a flash went off...so I figured it was one of the cameras you guys use..."

Danjuro:
Danjuro snorts. "They left the FLASH on? Holy shit, they had no idea what they were doing."

Danjuro:
"Guess you didn't run after em in your skivvies, huh?"
Kaori: (( You shower in your underwear? ))
Danjuro: (( In my swimsuit before hitting the pool, yeah ))
Safie: (( this was after club ))
Danjuro: (( Either way throwing a towel on and dashing would count as skivvies ))

Kaori:
"I-...if I was in my underwear this wouldn't be half the problem it is..." she mumbles, her face flush red.

Danjuro:
"...Right..." Danjuro grimaces. "Well, small comfort, they're casting a real wide net here. Even if you don't do anything, I'm sure you'll be fine - but I've a mind to do something about it. Safe, I'll get on your thing too, don't you worry."
Danjuro: (( Don't rly know where we're going but I think we've got most of what we can out of the scene...? ))

Kaori:
"They've got nothing to lose though...I don't even know where to start...besides, even if I wanted to just drop out of swim team, Hiroki-ku-...er...senpai would never let me..."
Phatthrice:
Safie reassures Dandan that he's got time, and bids farewell - she's got something to attend, apparently. She recommends again that you check out the crime scene; as amateurish as this person is, they're sure to've left tracks. Or maybe you could ask around for girls who're into science.
Danjuro: (( we can get the name of the magazine IC yea ))

"Best clue we've got is the scraps, I think - even if the mag didn't belong to the person who made it, maybe someone had it stolen from em."

"Sorry, I just need to vent about it sometimes." He looks over his shoulder, paranoid.

"Okay...and uh...thank you, Danpachi-san..."

Danjuro:
"Hey, no worries, this is what I do. You just shout if you need me, alright?"

She nods and head off to the locker room.

Danjuro:
Definitely gonna peek at those pictures if I find em tho.

Kaori:

Phatthrice:
You head to the swim team's locker room, then. It's empty now, of course, but Danjuro stands outside anyway. Like a coward. Nothing sticks out immediately, it's as disheveled as always. But after a minute of searching around, you find something a little peculiar - a pencil case. Kinda odd in al ocker room

Danjuro:
Dandan rolls up his sleeves, finding an empty trash can and a full one, beginning the process of transferring one to the other, looking for the magazine or any other clues
Kaori: (( Can I roll like, insight to see if I find anything out of place besides the pencil case ))
Danjuro: (( any goodies inside the case? ))
Kaori: (( Dunno yet :V ))

Hiroki:
Dodanpachi is startled by a boisterous voice, "HEY! What do you think you're doing here?!" A shirtless, orange-haired man has come around the corner and started barking at you, "Going through our garbage for even a taste of the great swim team's prowess? Don't tell me, you must want to join, right? No worries - it's a little late, but I'll always make time for a kindred spirit like you!"

Kaori:
Kaori checks out the pencil case before snooping around any more.

Danjuro:

Phatthrice:
The pencil case has a little bunny keychain on it, and is adorned with lots of stickers. More bunnies, primarily, but also a NASA sticker and a chibi image of the Curiosity rover reimagined as a puppy. Inside, it's pretty mundane - mechanical pencils, a couple pens, and some scissors. The scissors have a bit of paper stuck in between the blades.
Phatthrice:
Other than the case, there's lots of stuff out of place - makeup, some leftover drinks, open lockers, and so on, but nothing really unusual. Seems someone left their backpack here, though

Kaori:
"Whoaaa, this might be something handy...!" Kaori quickly stuffs it in her Hiyo Neko backpack.

Danjuro:
"Ah, damn it all..." Dandan reaches up to scratch his neck, and in doing so, unclasps his necklace, letting it fall down inside his shirt, out of sight. "I was hoping I could be lucky enough to not get caught here..."

Danjuro:
Audibly, to Hiroki, but the unclasping is meant to not be seen

Kaori:
Kaori glances around to see if the coast is clear.
Kaori: (( I assume I don't recognize the backpack from the usual suspects? ))
Kaori: (( And by that I mean the regular people who are in the locker room ))

Danjuro:
"Sorry man, sports club days are behind me. I actually was looking for my necklace - my lil sis gave it to me, I don't know how the hell it got off me. Checked out nearly every trash can in the complex so far... I know it's gotta look suspicious."
Phatthrice:
The backpack is Ayumu's, actually

Hiroki:
"What?! Why would it be in the trash? And who cares? You can't wear jewelry while swimming!"

Danjuro:
"Had it with me when I got here, wasn't in the lost and found - only got so many options here! I ain't about to go home without it."

Kaori:
"Oh wait, that's Ayumu's backpack..." She shrugs and heads towards the door but stops, "I mean...I could check..." Kaori heads back to the backpack and carefully unzips the main pouch, "This is silly.."

Hiroki:
"Well is it in there or not?? You're wasting my time here, man! Let's go for a swim!"
Phatthrice:
The backpack is full of books and other school-related accessories. Nothing out of the ordinary. Well, it does have her diary, but that would just be mean.

Danjuro:
(Wow, Kaori deals with this guy on the daily?) Dan motions to the like, 6 other bins he's gotta go through. "I dunno, you tell me. Are those x-ray goggles? 'cuz if not, I've got a lot more digging to do. I don't think swimming's the best idea for me, anyway. As a person."

Kaori:
"Hrmm, yeah...that was silly of me...Ayumu wouldn't do that..." She zips the backpack back up and proceeds back out of the locker room.

Danjuro:

While Kaori has Hiroki's attention, Danjuro maneuvers the necklace into his pocket to retrieve when convenient for the conversation

Hiroki:
"Haaah? Nari? You really think she could stop me?! I'd like to see her try!"

You don't find the magazine here, unfortunately. It seems like whoever made the note did so elsewhere, probably at home. But while you're bantering with Hiroki, someone else strides into the area

"Ahh....." The jittery girl known as Go-Die-Chan stops dead in her tracks when she sees the gaggle of people gathered around the locker room, "U-uh...so many people....I-I'm sorry!" She backs away slightly.

Danjuro:

"Oh? Yeah I uhh was in a bit of a rush after practice today so I forgot some stuff in my locker." She gently knocks on her own head, "I can be a bit of a space case sometimes, ehehehehe..."

Danjuro:
"I think Hiroki was looking for a swimming partner anyway. Dude hasn't stopped sweating since he got here." And it's true. He hasn't.

Hiroki:
"Looking? I've FOUND them! It's you all!"

Danjuro:
"Look, I told you, I -literally- can't."

Rio:
"O-oh...Erm, well, did you happen to see a...pencil case in there?" She pauses, then hastily adds, "Um - Ayumu told me she left it here, and to come get it for her....A-and I can't say no to her..."

Kaori:
"Hrmm, afraid not." She frowns outwardly, but everything inside of her screams at once, "Need help looking?"

Danjuro:
"I can tell ya it ain't in any of these trash bags." Dan shakes his head and ties the last one up tight, hucking it with one hand into a can.

Hiroki:
"Why WOULD it be?! What is with you and trash, man?"

Danjuro:
"Don't give me that, it's not like this happens regularly!" Dan scowls at Hiroki, eager to be rid of him. "Really though, Ayumu? I wouldn't have put it on her to ask you, of all people."

Rio:
"Oh...she's always making me get stuff for her.... Drinks, and food..." She chews her lip, "B-but I'm happy to do it, of course...":

Danjuro:
"Yeah, you always look happy."
Kaori: (( I, for some reason, can control Hiroki ))
Kaori: (( Y'all got any...strict token ownership? ))
Danjuro: (( he seems easy to manipulate. ))

"Anyway, I'll let you look for that pencil case then. And I'll see you at practice tomorrow, senpai! And uhhh...weird trash guy? Goodbye?" She then quickly hurries off knowing full well that Hiroki will trap her into a 100 lap training session if she stays.

Rio:
Rio slinks past the two burly strong flexing men and into the locker room

Hiroki:
"Hey! ONE of you get back here! AGH! Who'm I gonna swim with, now??"

Danjuro:
Danjuro slips his hand into his pocket and pulls out the necklace. "Ahaha, you've got to be kidding me, I guess I checked the wrong pocket! That one's on me. Ah well, guess I should get out of your hair. Good luck out there!"

Kaori:
Kaori makes it back to the photography clubroom and slinks inside, scanning to see if anyone else is here.

Danjuro:
Danjuro slinks away!

Hiroki might be enthusiastic but he's not gonna rip Rio out of her uniform and slap her into a swimsuit in broad dalyight

"Careful. I'm sticky." Dan's still wiping his arms down with paper towels. "Total bust on my end."

Danjuro:
"Any luck on yours?"

Kaori:
The young girl unzips her backpack and pulls out the pencil case, "L-..look! I found it in the locker room! Look! This sticker here! A-..and these scissors, they've got paper in them...!"

Danjuro:
"And Rio was looking for a pencil case, huh? You know what they say about coming back to the scene of the crime..."
Danjuro: (( I had asked but it got buried, did she have a camera/camera case on her? ))
Phatthrice:
She didn't, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. She did have her backpack with her, though
Danjuro: (( yee alright ))
Danjuro: (( man. Am I gonna have to shake down Charlotte? ))

Kaori:
"I mean...yeah, that's kinda suspicious but...I mean, this pencil case doesn't seem her style..."

Kaori:
"And she said she was getting it for Ayumu-chan...and...and...I found Ayumu-chan's backpack in there...but, wait, why would she just send her for her pencil case if she left her whole backpack there?"
Danjuro: (( Is Ayumu typically forgetful? ))

Kaori:
"You'd think she'd send her for the whole backpack..."

Kaori:
"Waaaah...Ayumu-chan's my friend...but I've never done anything to Kodaira-san..."

Danjuro:
"Her backpack's still in there then? And the pencil case wasn't in it?"

Kaori:
"Uh uh. I found the pencil case on the floor, but the backpack was far away from it...I...sorta looked through that and didn't see anything weird...just her books at her diary..."
Phatthrice:
Ayumu is...somewhat above average on the forgetfulness scale. Not an everyday thing, but it wouldn't shock you to hear she'd forgotten her backpack
Danjuro: (( I assume she's also not really the Popular Science Magazine type. ))

Danjuro:
"Couldn't help the peek, huh?"

Kaori:
"I-..it was a crime scene, I had to investigate!"
Phatthrice:
She has little interest in science, popular or not

Danjuro:
"Well, we've got our suspects. Of 'em, I think it's lining up more with ol Go-Die..."

Danjuro:
"You were alone in the showers when it happened? No idea where Ayumu was?"

Danjuro:
"Maybe she's finally snapped from all the teasing. Would have guessed Ayumu would be the first person she targeted though..."

Kaori:
"I was the last one in there...so I don't know where anyone was, no...

Danjuro:

Danjuro: (( You wanna spy on her? Find her meeting up with Ayumu? ))

Kaori:
"Uwahhh..." Kaori sighs, "I don't know what to do...what're we supposed to do? Follow them around? I don't even know how we could prove something like this..."
Phatthrice:

Danjuro:
"I mean. Yeah. We got the start of a pattern here."

Danjuro:
"You should talk to the other girls who ended up quitting - see if you can come up with anything."

Kaori:
"I can try...I don't know if any of them would really want to talk about it...I don't know if any of the others came forward about it...I mean, I know a couple of them transfered out even..."
