- Super Mario 64 | 16 Star FAQ
- What is 16 Star?
- - I'm beating the game getting 16 stars! I'm getting to 15 Stars to have MIPS appear in the basement, and using him to clip through the 30 Star Door. From here I collect the DDD Sub star, go through Fire Sea, and BLJ my way into Sky to beat the game. I'll be using the LBLJ route here.
- LBLJ? BLJs?
- - The "BLJ" stands for Backwards Long Jump. This is likely the most infamous trick in speedrunning history, so you have probably seen it before. Basically when Mario long jumps backwards, he gains a small amount of speed. You can do this on staircases or places with invisible ceilings above you to gain insane amounts of speed.
- The "BLJs" specifically refer to the 50 star door BLJ as well as up the endless staircase.
- "LBLJ" refers to Lobby Backwards Long Jump, which is done at the start of the run. This is the BLJ done to get access into Dark World.
- What is the hardest part of this run?
- - Honestly, consistently getting out of WF is what I struggle with most.
- Are you using new strats?
- - Since my last grind, the only new strat I've implemented is DJ Owlless. I have a much better understanding of Salt Cless and Tama Pless now though. I also recently tried to speed up my MIPS split with punch grab and a faster 2nd clip, but I haven't done it in runs yet.
- What do you play on?
- - I play on Emulator.
- What is your goal?
- - 15:3x
- What is WR?
- - The Emulator WR is 14:58 by Raisn
- - The N64 WR is 14:35 by Suigi.
- What are the grades? (A+/A/B/C)
- - These are actually more for the benefit of the viewer, to see how good the segments were in my PB, with A+ being the best, and C being the worst. Shows easily that losing time to an A+ segment isn't that bad, but losing time against a C segment is really bad. It also allows viewers to see where I'm expected to be able to save large amounts of time.
