  1. Lilium’s eyes idly wandered over towards the nearby doll that sat upon her desk. She’d reach over and take hold of it, gently holding the thing so that its button-like eyes stared back into hers. The girl smiled slightly, playfully grabbing its stubbly little hand and placing it at the make-shift mouth quilted into its face.
  2.
  3. “Today, I’m going to see a real person’s smile.” She’d say to herself, managing a grin of her own as she set the toy back onto her desk, sitting up from her bed and heading for the nearby window.
  4.
  5. She’d look out, seeing a large pine forest that spread on for some time. The fall from the window was several feet down, and she’d see plenty of peasants tilling and sowing at the land despite its cold. She’d always wondered what a farm looked like.
  6.
  7. Lilly spun around on the balls of her heels, wandering over towards her door and opening it right up. Her parents were gone, so what harm would it be in just exploring the place? The girl slid the door open and gasped to herself, before turning to grab the hand of her doll and pull it along with her, wandering down the halls of her home.
  8.
  9. “So what do you think farmers are like?” Lilium asked her doll curiously.
  10.
  11. A lighter voice came from her lips as she wandered through the halls, mimicking the doll’s speech. “Honest workers mean honest people!”
  12.
  13. “Maybe we can talk to them!” Lilium giggled at herself as she wandered through the halls, blissfully unaware (and uncaring) to the fact that her only real best friend has always been that doll. She’d happily skip her way through the hall, curiously peeking into each door now and then.
  14.
  15. She’d push a door open, quickly startling a nearby maid as she wandered in.
  16.
  17. “L-lady Chabain! You shouldn’t be wandering off.” The maid said.
  18.
  19. “But…” Lilium frowned, as the maid lifted the tiny girl up and carried her back to her room.
  20.
  21. “I wanna see other people.” Lilly complained and grumbled, but the maid smiled.
  22.
  23. “Some day.” The maid said. She’d close the door shortly after placing Lilly into her room.
  24.
  25. “...Well, I can talk with you.” The woman said, before taking a seat onto her bed. “What do you want to talk about?” She’d ask with a smile.
  26.
  27. “...What are people like out there?” Lilly’d ask, longingly staring outside of the window. “The forest looks pretty too.”
  28.
  29. “You turn ten tomorrow, Lilium. Can’t you wait?” The woman flustered.
  30.
  31. “No. I’ve been waiting for nine years. I don’t wanna wait for another if I can help it.” Lilium tugged at the woman’s apron and wandered over to the window.
  32.
  33. “I can see other people. I can see them. And I’ve yet to see an animal other than that stupid cat.” She’d grumble with distaste. “Can’t I?...Oh.” Lilly frowned a little as she turned to look at no one sitting in her bed. It wasn’t the first time she’d imagined someone sitting there. She’d puff her little cheeks and wander over towards the door, staring.
  34.
  35. “Ten years, I just wanna see the forest...I wonder what trees smell like.” She’d say. “Or taste like. Nnnn...They kinda look dark like chocolate. And they’re green. Kind of like...like...maybe broccoli. Broccoli kind of tastes good. I think.” She’d ramble.
  36.
  37. Turning around, the girl slid the door open, this time with doll in hand. She’d head right down the hall, this time, the other way, not wanting to startle that maid again.
