A man sitting on a bench, girl sits beside him but with some space between them. They start to talk, and fight out they are both super nerdy. Guy makes her laugh, they decided to meet at the bench the next day. Makes joke about wanting to have his name and hit favorite author’s quote on a bench in the park, they meet at the bench for many years. They have a 3 year old daughter named Lily, (mother 23, father 24). In the middle of his university class, his heart starts beating fast and he collapses. He gets told he has a tumor on his heart. The tumor starts hurting more and the father is no longer able to work with all the pain he has, he becomes bed ridden. His child is now age 5, collapses on the floor of their apartment with only the bed ridden father home as the mother is a waitress trying to get enough money to support their family and she can’t get a better job since she never went to post-secondary schooling. Father struggles to get to the phone as his daughter is starting to have a seizure. He attempts to perform CPR as the ambulance is on their way, but the father starts coughing up blood and the father is unable to perform mouth to mouth due to the tumor. The daughter dies. 2 years later on what was supposed to be their daughter’s 7th birthday, the mother had a mental breakdown in the middle of work and gets fired. Without a job, the man decided he would take the risk with only a 5% chance of living by getting the tumor removed completely. He lives through the surgery, but about 1 and a half months later, him and the girl had a fight with her saying it was his fault for their daughter’s death, and she goes to stay with her mother. Now the man is attending his work at a law firm, and in the middle of one of his court cases for a murder trial, he falls to the ground as his right lung collapses. He gets sent back to the hospital with the woman running to his side in tears. Sitting by his side as he is a sleep, she repeats aloud “Don’t leave me, please…. Don’t leave me”. With a sudden movement of his left hand, he grabs her left hand and moves it to his chest so she can feel his heart as tears are still rushing down her face, he says “My heart was never a problem” she then states “what do you mean” with tears coming down even heavier, he then replies with “I never had a heart to begin with…. You stole my heart since day” He reaches for her to and weaves his fingers in between, the man flat lines. The woman crawls into bed with him and cries there next to his dead body. She eventually develops a drug habit, and on what was the anniversary of the day she met the man for the first time, she walked over to the bench they sat at as teenagers, she proceeds to carve their names and that love quote his favorite author wrote, and then 3 boards down, she wrote their daughter’s name and year of birth-death. Lastly, she wrote down the year they both met, and the year they will both die. She proceeds to grab a needle full of heroine to end her own life by overdosing.
