  1. Trainer Tower is pleased to announce the addition of another fantastic EV spread creation tool, the Attack Survival Calculator, to its library of resources. It was developed by Ansel Blume (Stats), a dual Computer Science / Mathematics Major from California, USA.

  6. The SurvivalCalc is a tool that finds the best EV spread for a Pokémon to survive attacks based on goals. There are two major functions: finding the EV spread that survives an attack or combination of attacks with the minimum amount of EVs necessary, and finding the EV spread that best optimizes overall bulk, given a certain number of EVs. Examples are given in the following video. If you are familiar with flowcharts, this diagram (http://i.imgur.com/bd51uK0.png) may also help you get the ball rolling.

  8. Examples:

  10. -Kartana surviving Tapu Koko's Life Orb Thunderbolt using the fewest EVs necessary
  11. -Garchomp surviving opposing Jolly Garchomp's Tectonic Rage and Porygon2's Ice Beam using the fewest EVs necessary
  12. -Arcanine surviving -1 Liquidation from Araquanid while maximizing special bulk, after already investing EVs in Attack and Speed
  13. -Psychic Seed Mandibuzz surviving double Thunderbolt from Tapu Koko + Alolan Raichu in Psychic Terrain while maximizing physical bulk

  15. Words from Stats: (PUT THIS IN ITALICS!)
  16. I created the SurvivalCalc my Junior year of high school. Back then, DaWoblefet and I would talk to each other almost daily, bouncing ideas off of one another and slowly developing the defensive EV theory we utilize today. I wanted to construct something that would be able to apply the concepts we had theorized, something that could make the EV creation process as simple as the click of a button.
  17.
  18. That was four years ago. Since then, the SurvivalCalc has seen numerous additions and changes, evolving with the times almost as much as the Pokémon community has. Yet, through it all, the mission has stayed the same — to create a tool that would simplify the, at times, convoluted process of creating an EV spread. I hope that the SurvivalCalc can assist you in that journey.
