Alright, what made me almost skip this movie was the terrible slander people were throwing at it for various reasons (ANTMAN GETS A MOVIE BUT NOT BLACK WIDOW, THE WASP, [INSERT CHARACTER HERE]) and while the Wasp is one of the prominent founders of the Avengers in the comics I really wonder what movies you’ve been watching that follow the comics precisely. Hank Pym didn’t create Ultron in this world, the infinity stones are not exactly handled the way they are in the comics, the guardians of the galaxy were nowhere near what they were in the original comics (and why would they be?) there’s a reason why this isn’t Earth-616, its Earth- 199999.

I get people are pissed about the exclusion of the Wasp or Black Widow not getting a movie, but the Ant-Man has been in development hell since 2006 and was the spark that started the MCU, the MCU wouldn’t exist in its current form without the Ant-Man and I feel like its a movie that deserved to see the light of day finally.

That being said, the movie was actually better than I anticipated, it managed to seal this family bond theme pretty nicely, explain why the Wasp isn’t it and even so they didn’t rule out the original Wasp returning, in fact there’s been talks of Catherine-Zeta Jones being the original Wasp in a prequel film. The mid-credits scene even hinted at Pym’s daughter becoming a prominent superhero.

And I can already hear you typing about how it’s not enough, how she wasn’t enough of a feature, about how this was a lousy attempt to please the liberal audience. I don’t think so, midcredits scenes are reserved mostly for things that have an impact on the broader story, its how the universe has been connected so far, so they obviously want and approve of Hope as the new Wasp becoming a bigger hero (no pun intended) in the future.

Regarding the movie as a whole, it was lovely. What really sells this movie for me is Micheal Douglas as Hank Pym, he’s just so captivating to watch and listen to and his acting feels so genuine.

One thing that I will give people is Hope and Scott sort of starting to kiss at the end for no real reason beyond well they don’t completely hate each other.

But it’s rather quick and you could edit it out pretty easily and just watch the movie like that.

The post-credit scene, obviously a way to push the story towards Civil War is nice and will definitely be a pleasure for all Steve/Bucky fans.

The inclusion of Hydra was rather hilarious in my opinion, it was kind of fun how they done it.

I saw a large post the other day about how the existance of Ant-Man means there’ll never be a Wasp movie but its obvious that they are hinting at that the Wasp is still alive and can be brought back.

Now, the criticism is still here that Ant-Man shouldn’t have been made (again, ant-man started this whole thing, but even if you disregard that I still think it was alright to be made)

I get the dissapointment at a lack of Black Widow movie, I still think it’s ufair to lash out at Ant-Man for it. Making passive aggressive posts about the new Spider-Man movie is not gonna do anything. Stewing in your own little ball of anger is not gonna do much. You can be angry, I mean, I get it there’s not that many female led movies in the MCU (or any until Captain Marvel comes out) but you can’t just grumble about how things aren’t perfect right now.

There’s such a thing as enjoying the little things, being angry at everything until its your definition of utopia is a terrible way to live your life, its such a pessimistic look of the world.

Person 1: Man Hope was pretty cool in this movie, did you see her kick Scott’s ass?

Person 2: I feel like this should’ve been a Wasp movie, there’s not reason for Ant-Man to exist in the MCU, they just hate women.

I just feel bad for people that think this way, never being able to just enjoy little victories.

I see that Marvel is going in the right direction in regards to liberalism, but its not gonna happen over night, its going to take years, its going to take market research and testing phases.

Just support the movies, support Agent Carter, support Captain Marvel when it comes out.

That’s kind of the only language big corporations like Disney understand, just show them you want it with your wallet.

If Phase 3 goes well, the doors for a very diverse Phase 4 will open.

But in all seriousness, Ant-Man was such a great movie and I can’t recommend it enough!
