  2. ---Watching a play on cooking with Coraline---
  3.
  4. The Gullagumbah Gallery.
  5. The intoxicating scent of poppy flowers and resinous smoke wafts through the air, cast by the presence of a healing shrine of Mysrai nearby. Throughout the location, small dancing flames flicker and spark. Two golden wyverns rise beneath an archway of white marble, guarding the spacious hall opening up behind them with raised claws and bared teeth. Elaborate mosaics adorn the floor in a swirl of vivid colour combined with tasteful art, representing an abstract design of the entire city of Gaudiguch. Silken cushions are strewn across the floor, lying separate or in small piles, inviting and encouraging to sit down comfortably and relax. Tall pedestals rise along the edges of the floor, each holding multiple candles that illuminate the hall with a flickering light. Along the walls, reliefs of great columns rise upwards, forming soaring vaults in a ceiling barely visible in the gloom. Censers, wrought skillfully from polished silver and attached to delicate chains, hang from the apex of the vaults, lacing the air with heady incense while the tiny bells dangling from their lower side tinkle softly with every breeze. The centre of attention however, is undeniably a broad platform of black, volcanic rock, its simplicity and lack of lustrous hues immediately drawing the eye as it rises above the ranks of the audience. Affixed to the wall is a smoked glass sconce, a spray of golden bells suspended from the lowest point. A fluid crimson chaise couch has been hidden in obscurity here, awaiting someone to come ponder great mysteries upon it. A milestone of glassy obsidian rests here precariously placed on a tilted plinth of basalt. A stage of black, volcanic rock rises from the floor here. A basalt statue of a dracnari reveller is displayed near the stage, somewhat haphazardly remaining upright. In the shape of an open palm, a metallic sigil lies here.
  6. You see exits leading north and in.

  8. l Coraline
  9. She is a nimble faeling sugar-frosted demigoddess, standing at a modest height of a little over two feet and possessing a thin, wiry frame which, along with her energetic and fidgety disposition, makes her appear younger and more childlike than she really is. Her smooth, tawny skin is accentuated by subtle coral undertones that are emphasized in sunrise hues on her cheeks and long, tapering ears that frame either side of her dainty face. A small, upturned nose is complemented by long-lashed amber eyes that twinkle with mischief. Iridescent platinum gold hair has been tied back in a lazy updo, a few unruly strands framing her forehead in a corona of golden curls that resemble the glowing sun. Large butterfly wings of translucent gossamer sprout from her back, dyed a delicate rose-gold hue and fringed by a rime of taffy pink on the edges, as if frosted by sugar. A chaos butterfly is resting on her shoulder. An ethereal bracelet of azure flame rests upon her wrist, marking the truefavour of Raezon, the Forbidden upon her. Shadows cling adoringly to her, reluctant to surrender their grasp on one with the favour of Nocht, the Silent.
  10. The very definition of propriety and elegance, she wears her hair in a posh, tamed updo. Iridiscent blond hair has been parted in the middle and each side rolled upwards and away from the face. The rolls come to twist at the nape of the neck into a soft bun, its colour faded into a light brown ombre.
  11. She is wearing:
  12. a rose gold wedding band budding with a ruby strawberry, nestled comfortably upon the ring finger of her left hand
  13. the Golden Belt of the Enlightened
  14. a clover-etched moonstone ring
  15. a plush crimson bow fascinator
  16. a dangling shiny green apple earring through her left ear
  17. a dangling shiny green apple earring through her right ear
  18. a dangling rosy red apple earring through her left ear
  19. a dangling rosy red apple earring through her right ear
  20. a lush green velvet blouse
  21. a cheery watermelon skirt
  22. a pair of jade-heeled shoes
  23. a beryl sun ring.
  24.
  25. Like the pealing of so many bells, your voice rings to Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver, "Perhaps sometime I might call on you for lessons? Sparrow has tried his best, of course, but..."
  26.
  27. Coraline tells you, "Oh, of course! Although, I'll admit, it would feel weird teaching -you-.... you're so much more knowledgeable about everything!"
  28.
  29. Shadows pour out from the north, heralding Dusan.
  30.
  31. l Esei
  32. With porcelain skin covered in freckles, they are a graceful elfen wyrden demigod. Their hair, a vibrant auburn in hue, is loose and hangs just below their shoulders, with five braids; small bits of dark metal string the braids, except one which is weaved with black roses. Set below arched brows, their oft-hooded eyes are large and angled. Sloe in hue, making the pupils near indiscernible within them; dark, thick lashes line them, making them appear demure at times. Their nose is straight, slightly quirked at the tip, sitting above full, pink lips. Just past those lips lie sharpened incisors, giving them an overall more feral look. Their body is tall, slim, and willowy, with a narrow waist and hips but broad shoulders in comparison, standing at just over six feet. Their hands, most of all, are elegant and somewhat delicate, but end in tapered, sharp nails. Oddly, a half-healed scar covers their right palm.
  33. They are wearing:
  34. a platinum commune ring on the left ring finger
  35. a seven stone onyx bracelet clasped closely to their left wrist
  36. Ebon Prayer Beads of the Silent Lord hanging loosely around their neck
  37. a phantasmal shroud of shadows
  38. a sleek black leg scabbard strapped securely to their left thigh, occasionally glimpsed through the robes
  39. robes of shadow
  40. a cashmere wool and silk coat of varying sunset shades
  41. a silver torc
  42. the Fingerblade of dha'Wyrden-cree set upon their left index finger.
  43.
  44.
  45. Like the pealing of so many bells, your voice rings to Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver, "Oh, sister dear, I don't know that I'm *so* very much more knowledgeable than you now! Oh, when you were a sapling, perhaps, but look at you - you're a beautiful, fully grown tree. I suspect I have a great deal you could teach me, although I'm certain I might still best you in a subject or two, haha!"
  46.
  47. Esei gives a draping collar of bejewelled peacock eyespots to you.
  48.
  49. Trailing stars and smoke, Dusan trails off to the north.
  50.
  51. p collar
  52. A chain of platinum serves as the foundation of this collar, with the
  53. middle portion of it shrouded by a string of freshwater pearls, each
  54. carefully selected for their darker tones and blue-green iridescence.
  55. The ends of the chain are encrusted with fragments of quartz and
  56. peridot, limiting flexibility and sculpting the platinum to arch back
  57. towards the other end of the chain as the links branch and split into
  58. many frond-like wisps. Each bit of quartz and peridot is placed to
  59. create deeper shades of colour at the roots and joints of the wisps
  60. before they fade into paler tones. Bezel settings of pure gold join and
  61. link some of the fronds together, offering more stability to the piece
  62. as they frame large cabochons of black opal. Soft etchings along the
  63. rims of the settings leave each opal with a feathery halo, and the warm
  64. hue of the metal draws out brighter flecks of colour from within their
  65. black-blue depths. The sum total of the dangling chains, settings, and
  66. opals creates a striking image of draping peacock eyespots swathing the
  67. chest, with the weight and bulk of the piece helping to anchor it in
  68. place against the soft touch of the pearls upon the neck.
  69. It has 234 months of usefulness left.
  70.
  71. Like the pealing of so many bells, your voice rings to Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk, "This is a beautiful piece, Esei," Admiration is in the faeling's words as they call to you from across the aethers. "...It calls to mind my Lady. Thank you."
  72.
  73. You think to yourself: What a strange gift from one of Night... and yet, it *is* beautiful.
  74.
  75. Esei tells you, "I believe your sister-in-law designed it."
  76.
  77. Shadows pour out from the north, heralding Dusan.
  78.
  79. Esei ponders Coraline thoughtfully, looking her up and down.
  80.
  81. Like the pealing of so many bells, your voice rings to Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk, "You have done her design justice indeed."
  82.
  83. Esei gives a vegetarian taco sandwich the once-over, eyeing it suspiciously.
  84.
  85. You have emoted: Elexia tilts her head curiously at Esei, looking briefly at the taco in Esei's hands. She nods towards it encouragingly, flashing a brief thumbs-up motion.
  86.
  87. Esei stares blankly into space.
  88.
  89. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk whispers, "What is happening."
  90.
  91. Jolanthe Myeras says, "We're rewatching a performance."
  92.
  93. Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver exclaims, "We're watching my plays!"
  94.
  95. Jolanthe Myeras says, "This is a stage!"
  96.
  97. Comprehension flashes across Esei's face.
  98.
  99. Jolanthe Myeras says, "In case you've never been to Gaudiguch's."
  100.
  101. Gesturing towards the stage, you say to Esei, "My sister was sharing her lovely cooking lessons with us."
  102.
  103. Showing that they understands, Esei nods their head slowly.
  104.
  105. Coraline nods her head enthusiastically.
  106.
  107. The curtains draw to a close on a broad stage of volcanic rock, signaling the conclusion of the performance of 'Cooking With Cory: Episode One'.
  108.
  109. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says, "I have been here before but I believe there was a play going on. It confused me immensely at the time."
  110.
  111. The air above a broad stage of volcanic rock flickers one last time and clears, as the recorded performance of 'Cooking With Cory: Episode One' concludes.
  112.
  113. Coraline giggles happily.
  114.
  115. You have emoted: A mischievous look fills Elexia's violet eyes as her lips turn up in a pixie's grin.
  116.
  117. Jolanthe Myeras says, "Ah, well. No better place in the city for it, really."
  118.
  119. Jolanthe Myeras says, "Fits right in with the Palace."
  120.
  121. With a nod, you say, "I imagine it might. It's a fascinating design for their theatre... Very different than the Wilde's."
  122.
  123. Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver smiles broadly and says, "I think it's a neat place."
  124.
  125. You have emoted: Elexia casts another thoughtful glance at the gallery about her.
  126.
  127. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says, "Frankly, I didn't realize this was the Palace of Pleasure..."
  128.
  129. Jolanthe hides a grin behind her hand.
  130.
  131. Dusan, the coruscant sniffs you, trying to decipher just what that smell emanating from you is.
  132.
  133. Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver says, "The Serenwilde stage looks really ethereal... this one is more... comfortable."
  134.
  135. You have emoted: At the sound of the same, an odd look crosses Elexia's face as she twitches her long, pointed ears. "The Palace of Pleasure?" she repeats.
  136.
  137. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says, "Ah... yes..."
  138.
  139. Coraline nods her head enthusiastically.
  140.
  141. Esei shifts their eyes suspiciously from side to side.
  142.
  143. Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver smiles broadly and says to you, "We are inside it right now!"
  144.
  145. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says, "There is also the Menagerie of Perfected Flesh."
  146.
  147. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says, "The walls breathed."
  148.
  149. Jolanthe Myeras says, "Right. It hosts many besides the more infamous and notorious ones."
  150.
  151. With a rueful smile, you say, "I will admit, this is my... second? Yes, second time coming here... I'm still very unfamiliar."
  152.
  153. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says, "The stage of the Glomdoring is underground."
  154.
  155. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says, "It gives quite an air."
  156.
  157. Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver says, "Oh, I don't think I've ever been to Glomdoring's stage.."
  158.
  159. Jolanthe Myeras says, "It was rebuilt some time ago too, I think."
  160.
  161. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says, "It was."
  162.
  163. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says, "Repaired, really."
  164.
  165. Comprehension flashes across Coraline's face.
  166.
  167. Jolanthe Myeras says, "Yeah, that's a better word for it."
  168.
  169. You have emoted: Elexia rests her cheek on her hand in thought as she nods. "It's a very interesting place, with a heavy, involving atmosphere. It is a challenge to describe for me, but lovely."
  170.
  171. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says, "I have been in a few plays there."
  172.
  173. Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver says, "I have been to Serenwilde's and New Celest's..."
  174.
  175. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says, "I will be speaking on stage as a sermon sometime this year."
  176.
  177. Esei furrows their brow in thought.
  178.
  179. Jolanthe Myeras says, "They still need to make some repairs around here too. Like the poor wakabi fountains."
  180.
  181. Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver asks, "Oh, can we come?"
  182.
  183. You have emoted: A sudden realization crosses Elexia's face as she stands a little taller. "Oh! This is the last stage I hadn't yet seen!" she chirps, nodding in apparent satisfaction. "Oh... Oh, I forgot Celest," she says with a look of chagrin as she deflates.
  184.
  185. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says to Coraline, "You can."
  186.
  187. Coraline beams broadly at Esei.
  188.
  189. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says, "I am uncertain if Lady Rancoura or He would allow the other two to attend."
  190.
  191. Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver says to you, "My best friend Gabe does plays over there in New Celest sometimes..."
  192.
  193. Esei gestures to Jolanthe and you.
  194.
  195. Jolanthe Myeras says, "Ah, that's fine. I had my little time during the solstice festivities."
  196.
  197. Jolanthe Myeras says, "Don't need to push beyond open invitations."
  198.
  199. You have emoted: Elexia nods in agreement with Jolanthe, folding her hands behind her.
  200.
  201. Esei shrugs helplessly.
  202.
  203. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says, "It is one of His tenets."
  204.
  205. Coraline frowns, thinking of an idea. "What if we snuck them in?"
  206.
  207. Esei stares implacably at Coraline.
  208.
  209. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says to Coraline, "As a security aide I would see that rather glaring flaw."
  210.
  211. Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver says, "I bet I could borrow a cloaking gem or tw- oh..."
  212.
  213. Alarm filling her expression, you say, "Sister, I would not wish to disrespect their sovereignty so!"
  214.
  215. Coraline hangs her head sadly.
  216.
  217. Esei pats Coraline in a friendly manner.
  218.
  219. You have emoted: Elexia's posture tenses at the thought as she shakes her head. "B-but I thank you for thinking of us," she adds with a small smile.
  220.
  221. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says, "It would be on His Shroud of Shadows."
  222.
  223. Jolanthe Myeras says, "Time for me to go either way now."
  224.
  225. Coraline gives Jolanthe a peck on the cheek.
  226.
  227. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says, "I would be uncertain if any not of the Glomdoring would understand."
  228.
  229. Esei glances askance.
  230.
  231. You wave goodbye at Jolanthe.
  232.
  233. Curious, Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver asks, "Shroud of Shadows?"
  234.
  235. Jolanthe Myeras says, "Hope you're having fun with the replays, though!"
  236.
  237. Coraline nods her head enthusiastically at Jolanthe.
  238.
  239. Jolanthe gives Coraline a peck on the cheek.
  240.
  241. Jolanthe waves goodbye.
  242.
  243. Jolanthe searches the air in front of her, then tugs upon an invisible strand of force.
  244.
  245. Coraline beams broadly at Jolanthe.
  246.
  247. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says to Coraline, "A Shroud is like... a tenet of His."
  248.
  249. Jolanthe turns translucent and then vanishes, leaving behind a cloud of sparkling motes of light.
  250.
  251. Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver says, "... are you... hiding inside.. oh."
  252.
  253. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says to Coraline, "He has seven."
  254.
  255. You have emoted: A thoughtful, inquisitive look fills Elexia's visage as she considers Esei with a slight cant of her head.
  256.
  257. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says, "Not counting these."
  258.
  259. Esei caresses a phantasmal shroud of shadows gently.
  260.
  261. Comprehension flashes across Coraline's face.
  262.
  263. Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver says, "I suppose it's like the Pillars we have in..."
  264.
  265. Esei tilts their head curiously at you.
  266.
  267. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk asks you, "Something a-matter, Lady Oracular?"
  268.
  269. Looking worried, Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver asks, "Sister, is something wrong?"
  270.
  271. You have emoted: Elexia's eyebrows raise slightly as she sees Esei return her gaze. "Ah, I am merely curious of your perspectives, in the Wyrden Wood," she admits with a light little shrug of her shoulders. She begins to rock from toe-to-heel and back again, continuing the nervous gesture as she adds, "Perhaps we wouldn't understand in the manner you do. Yet, I cannot help but be curious to know."
  272.
  273. Adding with a nod, you say, "Not that I am pressing for an invitation, of course."
  274.
  275. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk purrs, "I see."
  276.
  277. Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver says, "I understand that... I think that it's important to also listen to other viewpoints as well.."
  278.
  279. Esei's eyes suddenly unfocus, head tilting to face southeast, towards the Glomdoring.
  280.
  281. With an idle gesture, you say, "Such is one of our own Truths, after all."
  282.
  283. Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver says, "...I think that it would open your mind a whole lot if you also listened to people who don't agree with you, yes..."
  284.
  285. Softly, Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk asks, "Do you follow the Lady of Serenity, Lady Oracular?"
  286.
  287. Coraline's ears perk up with a sudden interest.
  288.
  289. You have emoted: As Esei looks towards Glomdoring, Elexia's pointed ears perk. Then, when the question is directed to her, she ceases her rocking upon her heels. She stands tall, at least as tall as a faeling of such small stature can posture. "I do," she says with a nod. "it is a change which has occurred but recently in me... Perhaps two years ago, now. But I am blessed to be called Her Yneli."
  290.
  291. Coraline's mouth turns up as her face breaks into a smile.
  292.
  293. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk murmurs, "I see."
  294.
  295. Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver smiles and says, "I remember Her as a wonderful, kind Goddess!"
  296.
  297. Esei draws their shroud closer to themself, gazing off into the distance. "Nine Truths," they say. "Seven Shrouds."
  298.
  299. You have emoted: Elexia flashes Coraline a bright smile, reaching over to squeeze her sister's hand.
  300.
  301. Clapping her hands, Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver exclaims, "So there are two Truths more than the Shrouds!"
  302.
  303. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says to Coraline, "That is because one of the Shrouds could encompass some of the Truths."
  304.
  305. Esei shrugs helplessly.
  306.
  307. You have emoted: Elexia folds her hands back behind her as she considers Esei again with another light tilt of her head. "And yet, I know none of your Shrouds... Save Rebirth, which I know little of. I suppose that is the nature of a Shroud, though," she says with a wave of her hand. She flashes Coraline a little wink.
  308.
  309. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says, "There is no Shroud such as Rebirth."
  310.
  311. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says, "There is the Amalgam, I suppose."
  312.
  313. The ghost of a smile passes fleetingly across Esei's lips.
  314.
  315. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says, "He has no book and no tome. Even those within the Glomdoring itself know little of His Shrouds."
  316.
  317. Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver asks, "The Amalgam? Is it like Alchemy?"
  318.
  319. You have emoted: Elexia taps her chin in thought at this, musing, "Then I misunderstood our previous talk of it, I suspect. But then, you seemed to will not to elaborate. Perhaps, this concern of being misunderstood?"
  320.
  321. Showing that you understand, you nod your head slowly towards Esei.
  322.
  323. Esei waves their hand dismissively.
  324.
  325. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says to Coraline, "It is closer to cooking."
  326.
  327. Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver exclaims, "Ah!"
  328.
  329. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says to Coraline, "Imagine having six ingredients, but they were each vital and important to the final product."
  330.
  331. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says to Coraline, "But the cake is better than raw egg, or mere sugar."
  332.
  333. Proudly, Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver says, "My Teacher told me that cooking is the purest, most distilled form of Alchemy!"
  334.
  335. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says, "In a way, I suppose that is true. But that is not what we are here to speak of, no?"
  336.
  337. Esei's eyes twinkle enchantingly.
  338.
  339. You have emoted: Upon hearing the word 'Teacher,' Elexia's calm demeanor abruptly suffers a crack. She can't help but cast a glance of concern towards Coraline, though she quickly attempts to cover it up with an anxious smile.
  340.
  341. Millien tells you, "If it was me I'd find out what he wants first. An' I figure he can meet you here in case he wants to try somethin' stupid."
  342.
  343. Looking suspiciously around, Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver asks, "Oh.. are we here to speak about something, then?"
  344.
  345. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says, "Seven Shrouds, but only six of them are... static."
  346.
  347. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says, "Refinement. Twilight. Beauty. Shadows. Sacrifice. Silence."
  348.
  349. Like the pealing of so many bells, your voice rings to Millien Myeras, "I've sparred with him before, sister... Do not worry for me. I may be no great combatant, but I am more than his match. But... I don't think he would try any such thing."
  350.
  351. Esei sways back and forth.
  352.
  353. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says, "And the seventh, as you may know, is the Amalgam."
  354.
  355. You have emoted: After Esei lists the Shrouds, Elexia mouths them silently, a look of concentration on her face.
  356.
  357. Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver says, "Some of them don't sound so bad.. but Silence?"
  358.
  359. Like the pealing of so many bells, your voice rings to Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver, "I admit, I... hadn't known we were here to speak of anything in particular either. Esei is an... interesting person. I'm not certain what to make of them."
  360.
  361. Coraline makes a face.
  362.
  363. The ghost of a smile passes fleetingly across Esei's lips.
  364.
  365. Coraline tells you, "Ah, she really is!"
  366.
  367. You have emoted: Elexia lifts a hand to her chin, eyes searching Esei's face again. She nods, as if confirming something to herself.
  368.
  369. The dazzling flash of coloured glass announces the stealthy arrival of an iridescent clockwork dragonfly. Hovering just above Coraline, it drops a plump bumblebee cookie, then is off whizzing through the air in a metronomic drone.
  370.
  371. An iridescent clockwork dragonfly rises effortlessly into the air, only to vanish in a dazzling flash of glass and metal.
  372.
  373. Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver says, "Silence is awkward, Silence kills conversations... and makes things awkward."
  374.
  375. The dazzling flash of coloured glass announces the stealthy arrival of an iridescent clockwork dragonfly. Hovering just above you, it drops a plump bumblebee cookie in your hands, then is off whizzing through the air in a metronomic drone.
  376.
  377. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says, "Yes. And no."
  378.
  379. Like the pealing of so many bells, your voice rings to Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver, "Their Lord Silent bears enmity towards my own Lady of Serenity, and yet they continuously reach out, talk."
  380.
  381. An iridescent clockwork dragonfly rises effortlessly into the air, only to vanish in a dazzling flash of glass and metal.
  382.
  383. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says, "I do not find Silence to be awkward."
  384.
  385. You have emoted: At the delivery of a plump bumblebee cookie, Elexia looks after the trail of the dragonfly with a brief smile before returning her full attention to Esei.
  386.
  387. Coraline tells you, "Ah, I wonder if they are reaching out, because subconsciously they want to ...break free?"
  388.
  389. Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver says, "I do..."
  390.
  391. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says, "Silence does not inherently ask you to be reticent."
  392.
  393. Coraline continues to ramble, "Besides, Silence is also boring... I'd rather just keep talking..."
  394.
  395. Like the pealing of so many bells, your voice rings to Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver, "That is my hope..."
  396.
  397. Esei sways slightly in place, patiently waiting for Coraline. Through the shroud, it is somewhat difficult to make out their facial expression.
  398.
  399. Coraline looks around at the awkward silence, then smiles at Esei triumphantly. "See?"
  400.
  401. You have emoted: Resting a hand upon her hip Elexia remarks, "It is difficult to say what Silence does or not make you, with only the word itself to describe the Shroud."
  402.
  403. With a wave of her hands, Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver states, "Silence, awkward."
  404.
  405. Esei caresses a phantasmal shroud of shadows gently.
  406.
  407. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk whispers, "Silence is wisdom."
  408.
  409. Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver says to you, "Oh, you're right."
  410.
  411. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk whispers, "If you use the proper words at the proper time, to the proper person..."
  412.
  413. Crossing her arms, you say, "I see... You are not wholly silent, but using Silence to give the times when you break it greater potency, then?"
  414.
  415. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says, "Essentially."
  416.
  417. The pointed tips of Esei's ears twitch to some errant sound.
  418.
  419. Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver asks, "Oh, much like when you add a pinch ofsalt to baked goods, and how that brings out their sweetness?"
  420.
  421. Vaguely, Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says, "I suppose."
  422.
  423. You have emoted: Elexia nods in contemplation, replying, "I can appreciate what an economy of words can do for a conversation..." A slight grin, reminiscient of a pixie's crosses her lips. "Although I am one to ramble myself, as you may have noted."
  424.
  425. Coraline nods in agreement with you. "Silence sounds.. less lame than I thought, but I still prefer talking.."
  426.
  427. Esei smirks.
  428.
  429. Esei sways back and forth.
  430.
  431. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says, "The Shrouds eventually build up to the Amalgam."
  432.
  433. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says, "I am almost finished with the other six."
  434.
  435. Her eyebrows raising, you say, "I suspected it would be the combination of the others... But I had not suspected they are sequential."
  436.
  437. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says, "They are not."
  438.
  439. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says, "They are in whichever order you feel best."
  440.
  441. Comprehension flashes across your face.
  442.
  443. You nod your head slowly in understanding.
  444.
  445. Comprehension flashes across Coraline's face.
  446.
  447. You say, "Similar, then, to the Nine Truths in that way."
  448.
  449. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says, "Silence was my first Shroud that I completed."
  450.
  451. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says, "The Amalgam, in addition, is unique to each individual, as each Shroud's is more or less unique to them."
  452.
  453. With sudden playfulness, you say, "You've a talent for it."
  454.
  455. Coraline nods solemnly.
  456.
  457. The pointed tips of Esei's ears twitch to some errant sound.
  458.
  459. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk whispers, "The Amalgam task is set by the Silent One Himself."
  460.
  461. Nodding again, you say, "But, the Amalgam... Ah, is that so?"
  462.
  463. You nod your head slowly in understanding.
  464.
  465. Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver asks, "Oh.. and the others are not?"
  466.
  467. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says, "I presume they were agreed upon by the Enur Il'dal at the time. But I could not say."
  468.
  469. Comprehension flashes across Coraline's face.
  470.
  471. Esei tilts their head curiously at you.
  472.
  473. You have emoted: Elexia rests her hand beneath her chin, contemplation in her violet eyes. "It sounds, in some ways, similar to the Way of the Blossom. Each individual, experiencing Serenity in their own way," she says. "...It makes me all the more curious of the other Shrouds. For clearly, there are differences." She tilts her head again. "Enur Il'dal... Are they your Order's leadership, then?"
  474.
  475. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says, "Quite."
  476.
  477. You say, "Akin to our Phrases, I suspect."
  478.
  479. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says, "Lady Rancoura and Lady Tau."
  480.
  481. Comprehension flashes across Coraline's face.
  482.
  483. You have emoted: Elexia's eyebrows lift again and her gaze is suddenly distant. She nods to herself, in apparent satisfaction.
  484.
  485. Esei shifts their eyes over you with a look of suspicion.
  486.
  487. You look up at Esei curiously.
  488.
  489. Suspiciously, Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk asks you, "...are you well?"
  490.
  491. Coraline leans agains a fluid crimson chaise couch, watching the interaction with curiosity.
  492.
  493. Blinking in surprise, you say, "Oh, I was just recalling something. From the Solstice."
  494.
  495. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk asks, "...what would that be, exactly?"
  496.
  497. A cool breeze drifts into the Gallery causing the temperature to dip slightly.
  498.
  499. You have emoted: Without guile, Elexia continues, "My sister, Lief, seemed very cautious around your Rancoura at the time of the Solstice. I hadn't understood, then, why that might be, though I had my suspicions. Now, it is very apparent... Especially given what had happened at the time."
  500.
  501. Esei closes their eyes and inhales deeply, absorbing the scent of their surroundings.
  502.
  503. Esei exhales slowly, allowing a long fluid breath to creep from their lungs.
  504.
  505. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk murmurs, "I see."
  506.
  507. Esei caresses a phantasmal shroud of shadows gently.
  508.
  509. The pointed tips of Esei's ears twitch to some errant sound.
  510.
  511. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk whispers, "It feels cooler in here, does it not?"
  512.
  513. Coraline looks around, looking for a way to dissipate the tension in the air.
  514.
  515. Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver says, "... cooler? No..."
  516.
  517. Emphatically, Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver exclaims, "It's warm, like it's s'posed to be!"
  518.
  519. You have emoted: Elexia casts a glance to Coraline, her pointed ears drooping. "I felt a little breeze, I thought," she mentions off-handedly. "It *is* winter, after all?"
  520.
  521. Coraline furrows her brow in suspicion. "We don't get much affected by winter here..."
  522.
  523. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk murmurs, "I see..."
  524.
  525. You have emoted: Elexia twists her mouth in thought as she casts a glance of concern at Coraline, then at Esei. Her posture suddenly appears more guarded as she draws herself up.
  526.
  527. Shaking her head, Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver says, "Perhaps what both of you need is a blanket..."
  528.
  529. Coraline removes a woolen tentacle scarf of violet and lavender.
  530.
  531. Coraline gives a woolen tentacle scarf of violet and lavender to you.
  532.
  533. Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver says, "...I ran out of scarves."
  534.
  535. Esei gives Coraline the once-over, eyeing her suspiciously.
  536.
  537. Esei caresses a phantasmal shroud of shadows gently.
  538.
  539. Esei creases their brow in a frown.
  540.
  541. You have emoted: Although her posture is rigid, Elexia is immediately brought out of her guarded stance by Coraline's gift. She flashes her sister a fond, bright smile as she accepts a woolen tentacle scarf of violet and lavender and throws it about her neck.
  542.
  543. Esei waves their hand dismissively.
  544.
  545. Narrowing her eyes, Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver says, "Doesn't look like that shroud is helping.. if you're feelin' cold in Gaudiguch.."
  546.
  547. A chill air still manages to touch the back of your neck despite the woolen scarf.
  548.
  549. You have emoted: A slight smile dances at the edge of Elexia's lips, but then is immediately stolen as her hand reaches up to grab at a woolen tentacle scarf of violet and lavender.
  550.
  551. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says to Coraline, "I am a child of Night."
  552.
  553. You think to yourself: ...It's not just the weather.
  554.
  555. Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver says to Esei, "A -cold- child of Night, it looks like."
  556.
  557. Esei's eyes raise to the heavens as a look of hope flashes across their face.
  558.
  559. The ghost of a smile passes fleetingly across Esei's lips.
  560.
  561. Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver mutters something unintelligible in a flowing and fiery rhythm.
  562.
  563. Coraline shakes her head.
  564.
  565. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says to Coraline, "I can understand you, you know."
  566.
  567. Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver says, "Oh."
  568.
  569. You have emoted: Elexia casts a wary glance about the room, her brow furrowed. She casts a quick glance to Coraline as dracnari speech leaves her sister's lips. As if she were a cornered animal, her eyes dance to and fro for a moment or two. Then, she stubbornly closes them and inhales deeply.
  570.
  571. Esei smirks.
  572.
  573. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk says to Coraline, "As for that, I thrive in the cold."
  574.
  575. Esei caresses a phantasmal shroud of shadows gently.
  576.
  577. You think to yourself: I am afraid. And I can feel that fear, and not be overcome by it. I can let it dance over me.
  578.
  579. You think to yourself: ...I can stand firm, and still be afraid. I can reach after Serenity even when it is difficult.
  580.
  581. In a matter-of-fact way, Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver states, "Well, you won't find any of it here, I'm sure.. we are a city full of warmth, and fun, and life!"
  582.
  583. You have emoted: Elexia opens her eyes, some of her composure regained as she makes a conscious effort to relax her posture.
  584.
  585. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk asks you, "Are you well? The chill of Mother Night has not affected you, has it?"
  586.
  587. With a dip of her head, you say, "Thank you, Master Esei, for sharing some of your perspective with us this Moon."
  588.
  589. With concern, Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver says to you, "Sister, maybe you should sit down on that couch a while.."
  590.
  591. Esei's eyes sparkle with amusement at you.
  592.
  593. You have emoted: Elexia pauses a moment, the fear resurfacing upon her face before she manages to grab hold of it again. "It has," she says simply, with a nod.
  594.
  595. You smile softly at Coraline.
  596.
  597. Coraline creases her brow in a frown.
  598.
  599. With a grateful nod, you say to Coraline, "Thank you for your offer, sister, but I will be fine."
  600.
  601. You have emoted: An anxious smile, but still a smile, comes to Elexia's face.
  602.
  603. You think to yourself: What would Lief say here? I am strong... Yes, stronger than I believe I am.
  604.
  605. "Are you brave?" The thought suddenly intrudes upon your own.
  606.
  607. "I see," Esei murmurs, hand still gently touching their shroud. They flash a grin, showing far too many sharp teeth. "Do be safe under Her watchful gaze."
  608.
  609. "Are you strong?"
  610.
  611. Coraline looks at you, still not entirely convinced, but decides to let it go.
  612.
  613. You think to yourself: ...I... I... Y-yes. Yes.
  614.
  615. You have emoted: Elexia nods once, twice, then thrice, as if trying to convince herself of something.
  616.
  617. Another thought intrudes, more forceful than the previous, "Are you certain?"
  618.
  619. Esei tilts their head curiously at you.
  620.
  621. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk purrs, "Something troubling you, dear Oracular?"
  622.
  623. You think to yourself: ...I... I'm not. But I... I believe that I could be... That I might be. If not now, then in time. Yes. I am strong...
  624.
  625. Distractedly gazing about, you say, "What? Oh, that's..."
  626.
  627. The gentle glow from the censers casts shadows that seem to stretch longer and longer.
  628.
  629. You have emoted: Elexia squints for a moment about her, as if trying to see something not present. "...Yes, but I will endure," she asserts.
  630.
  631. You think to yourself: ...Stand firm. Feet planted firmly on the ground. Recall the Wood, recall the grove, the canaga tree...
  632.
  633. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk whispers, "So sad, that you must simply endure."
  634.
  635. You have emoted: Esei's words draw sudden fire in Elexia's eyes as she retorts, "Is it? For many things must endure in the winter, only to bloom in full with the coming of spring."
  636.
  637. You think to yourself: I've not yet been painted... Awakened, like Her blooms. But I will be. I will be.
  638.
  639. "There are stronger blooms than Hers. Braver blooms."
  640.
  641. Esei tilts their head slightly, hair sliding over skin as they carefully appraise you and your words. "Only born, simply to die?"
  642.
  643. Coraline looks around, looking slightly miffed that there's some tension in the air that she can't yet sense.
  644.
  645. You think to yourself: If strength were raw might, perhaps. And no doubt at my fullest, I won't be the bravest of Her blooms. Or the strongest. But She is unparalleled in Her craft... I have seen this for myself.
  646.
  647. You have emoted: A surge of confidence filling her words, Elexia replies simply, "Die." She punctuates this word with a nod and a pause, before adding. "And then bloom again." She gives Coraline a small, comforting smile, squeezing her sister's hand.
  648.
  649. Trying to back up her sister's words, Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver says, "We're all born to die. That doesn't mean that our lives don't have meaning."
  650.
  651. The pointed tips of Esei's ears twitch to some errant sound.
  652.
  653. Eyes sharp, Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk murmurs, "I see."
  654.
  655. You have emoted: Elexia gives Coraline's hand another affectionate squeeze. "Aye, sister," she agrees softly with a nod. "And indeed, has not the whole of the Basin endured? Struggled? Clung to Hope amidst tragedy? And yet, we have this Hope. This Winter's promise, leading to Spring."
  656.
  657. You think to yourself: Do They, I wonder?
  658.
  659. The unease that lingers in the air suddenly breaks forth into the sound of a voice, hollow and without feeling. "Some were born to die, child. Not all."
  660.
  661. Coraline creases her brow in a frown.
  662.
  663. The ghost of a smile passes fleetingly across Esei's lips.
  664.
  665. Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver frowns and says, "You're both right.. there -is- something weird going on around here."
  666.
  667. Esei stares implacably at Coraline.
  668.
  669. Coraline closes her eyes and shakes her head, as if trying to clear out any intruding thoughts.
  670.
  671. Master Esei of the Ascending Dusk whispers, "You don't say."
  672.
  673. You have emoted: Hearing the voice in the open shakes Elexia's fragile resolve, and she can't help but shrink back a step and grip Coraline's hand more tightly. Mustering herself up, though, she manages a reply, "Perhaps, Lord Silent. But mortals were. But we are capable of finding our own Serenity nonetheless, and eventually, new life again."
  674.
  675. You think to yourself: ...I... What am I doing?
  676.
  677. You have emoted: Elexia suddenly seems unsure of herself, looking down.
  678.
  679. You think to yourself: Speaking back to an Elder... Even if I disagree with Their view... Should I?
  680.
  681. Coraline considers her thoughts, then nods at you vigorously in agreement.
  682.
  683. Esei's lips twist into a sharp, dangerous smile, dark eyes flashing.
  684.
  685. You think to yourself: Even so, I... I spoke as I feel.
  686.
  687. "Do you truly believe your words, child?"
  688.
  689. Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver asks, "If she didn't, why would she say them?"
  690.
  691. Coraline moves next to you protectively.
  692.
  693. You have emoted: Elexia manages to regain a measure of composure, though she settles for looking down at her loam-stained feet instead of at the open air. "Y-Yes..." she whispers, with less force this time.
  694.
  695. The dazzling flash of coloured glass announces the stealthy arrival of an iridescent clockwork dragonfly. Hovering just above you, it drops a pale, budding peach blossom in your hands, then is off whizzing through the air in a metronomic drone.
  696.
  697. An iridescent clockwork dragonfly rises effortlessly into the air, only to vanish in a dazzling flash of glass and metal.
  698.
  699. Though the voice does not change in pitch and tone, there is no a threatening edge to it, "Mortals often speak what they wish was true. Not what is."
  700.
  701. Closing her eyes, you say, "I speak what I believe is true... Because it is all that I know."
  702.
  703. Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver says, "Maybe -some- mortals speak like that.. but my sister doesn't. She only says what she means."
  704.
  705. You have emoted: Elexia cradles a pale, budding peach blossom in her hands, the corners of her lips twitching upwards in a smile for but a moment.
  706.
  707. You think to yourself: From Lief...
  708.
  709. Like the pealing of so many bells, your voice rings to Awanydd Lief Myeras-Silvermoon, "Th-thank you, sister, it's... I-it's a fine piece."
  710.
  711. Lief tells you, "Sister..."
  712. Lief tells you, "...are you safe?"
  713.
  714. "She does not speak with conviction like you, child. You believe your words... Even if they are false."
  715.
  716. You feel an icy breath at your cheek, "Call to her. Beg for rescue, child."
  717.
  718. You have emoted: Elexia freezes suddenly, her face scrunching up as if a blow had just struck her. Her eyes remain fiercely shut, and her grip on a pale, budding peach blossom becomes so tight the paper of the origami becomes wrinkled and damaged.
  719.
  720.
  721. Like the pealing of so many bells, your voice rings to Awanydd Lief Myeras-Silvermoon, "There is a long, prolonged pause. Then, preceding by a deep breath, "Yes. Yes sister.""
  722.
  723. You think to yourself: I... I'm not Lief. I could never be so strong as she. But I... I can withstand... this.
  724.
  725. The origami no longer holding its shape in her hands, you say, "I... believe as I believe."
  726.
  727. Lief tells you, "Because I felt... ah..." She trails off, the words bearing with them a troubled weight upon the aethers. "I...trust you, Elexia. And I hope you have learned something of Kinship in your meditations."
  728.
  729. Lief tells you, "Call on me. Please. If you need me by your side."
  730.
  731. The voice whispers in your ear, unrelenting and unfeeling, "I see through your lies, child. I see the bloom you will be clearly..."
  732.
  733. Coraline moves silently towards you to whisper in her ear.
  734.
  735. Coraline tells you, "He can't get into your head if you don't let Him! Just be confident!"
  736.
  737. Whispering, you say, "We shall see what She makes of me. What I will make of me."
  738.
  739. Coraline tells you, "You believe what you know to be true, and that's all that matters."
  740.
  741. Coraline tells you, "Don't be afraid, I'm here! Lief is nearby..."
  742.
  743. (Great House Myeras): Lief says, "Cora, who is your Teacher?"
  744.
  745. (Great House Myeras): Coraline says, "Ah, my Teacher?"
  746.
  747. You think to yourself: Kinship... Am I... Being led astray? Separated that I might be weaker?
  748.
  749. (Great House Myeras): Lief says, "You note someone with immense respect in your book on salt. Respect reserved for the Divine, usually."
  750.
  751. Esei closes their eyes and inhales deeply, absorbing the scent of their surroundings.
  752. Esei exhales slowly, allowing a long fluid breath to creep from their lungs.
  753.
  754. (Great House Myeras): Coraline says, "Ah, yes, He is a Divine! The wisest and most intelligent of Them all!"
  755.
  756. You have emoted: Elexia takes a deep breath, her wings closing together as she does so. As she slowly exhales, her wings fan out with the action. She embraces Coraline tightly, lightly quivering in spite of herself.
  757.
  758. Stating the obvious, Coraline Myeras, Flowing Quicksilver says, "...I think He's gone."
  759.
  760. (Great House Myeras): Lief says, "Who is He?"
  761.
  762. Like the pealing of so many bells, your voice rings to Awanydd Lief Myeras-Silvermoon, "...I made it, sister. I really did."
  763.
  764. Lief tells you, "What...what was happening?"
  765.
  766. (Great House Myeras): Coraline says, "The Lord Forbidden! He is teaching me alchemy so that I can be an even better chef!"
  767.
  768. Lief tells you, "Does He know you worship my Lady now?"
  769.
  770. Like the pealing of so many bells, your voice rings to Awanydd Lief Myeras-Silvermoon, "I'm sorry for lying, I am... Well... No, I wasn't. I was safe... am safe. Although I'm but a Yneli, She has called me Her own."
  771.
  772. Esei closes their eyes and inhales deeply, absorbing the scent of their surroundings.
  773. Esei exhales slowly, allowing a long fluid breath to creep from their lungs.
  774.
  775. Coraline blinks.
  776.
  777. With a gentle smile as she releases her sister, you say to Coraline, "Thank you, Coraline."
  778.
  779. Lief tells you, "You *are*, so long as you allow yourself to be."
  780.
  781. (Great House Myeras): Lief says, "I...I see."
  782.
  783. Skeletal white blossoms flower along the flesh of Esei, riding Dusan, the coruscant, as their body splits apart into a blizzard of blackthorn petals that leave to the north.
  784. Trailing stars and smoke, Dusan trails off to the north.
  785.
  786. Coraline smiles brightly at her sister. "See? I told you it'll be alright!"
  787.
  788. Like the pealing of so many bells, your voice rings to Awanydd Lief Myeras-Silvermoon, "And I... I'm actually in Gaudiguch, hoping to talk to her about that, when... When He came."
  789.
  790. (Great House Myeras): Lief says, "...I hope you do not take too many of His lessons to heart. He gave Uzriel a raisin, once, in the Razines."
  791.
  792. (Great House Myeras): Lief says, "I nearly died from contact intoxication."
  793.
  794. (Great House Myeras): Coraline says, "A what?"
