LUCKY ONE

° background: areum is the only daughter of two members of the executive branch of the korean government.. kind of. areum was born hirai narumi, a japanese child left at the hospital because her mother had wanted a son, and found by the two officials by chance as they mourned the death of their child at the age of eight. she wasn't very sure about how she felt when she was suddenly flying to another country, and then suddenly being lee areum. and then a whole story about her being the couple's "hidden child" came out, and she just decided to go with it. growing up, even in the orphanage, areum was an incredibly quiet child with a lot of thoughts in her head; she was extremely cautious about what she would say after being adopted, which lead her to being selectively mute all throughout her elementary and middle school days. not that it made much difference for her social life, people were either too scared to talk to her or hated the fact that she just showed up and was suddenly the child of two of the some of the most powerful people in south korea. of course, there were some in the latter that decided to bully her (even throughout high school), but areum never actually told her parents because she felt like that would be losing. show her off as weak. so she did what she always did: stayed quiet. although, she was (and still is) incredibly salty about those people, and swore that she'd make them all pay after high school. when it was announced that the purge was announced to happen, she couldn't have been more than ecstatic about it. it wasn't hard to sneak out, though, it took a lot of sweet talking and quietly tiptoeing with a mask and her knives bulging from her purse, but in the end she managed to escape. what happened after that... well, there wasn't any sort of evidence to prove it was her, was there?

° how did they meet: she's seen him around before during purge night, with his fists and the blood that stained them as well as his face (quite the sight to see on such a beautiful face). on purge nights he'd see her too, though he was just like her; a quiet observer in the shadows, watching as she struck her next victim and left the scene with such finesse he almost thought she wasn't real (if it wasn't for the body left gurgling on the street, that is). he doesn't recognize her. she doesn't recognize him. during the other 364 (365 on a leap year) days of the year, though, they aren't strangers to each other. with their parents being incredibly important people in the korean government, he and areum usually see each other at the mature and classy "formal parties" that their families are obligatory to attend unless they want some sort of rumor or feud to start. despite both of them having attended many of the same parties since they were 10, they first met each other when they were 16, him in a well-fit suit and her in a modest-yet-alluring black dress her mother let her choose for once. he was a flirt, she was.. well, not /completely/ opposed to it, so she played along. since then, they've been quite the pair during social gatherings, and quite the talk on many platforms of social media when seen together.

° first impressions: NOT purge night : "okay you're lowkey creepy but also kind of hot... i'll take it" (her) "wow u are tall but also hot aju nice" (him) | purge night : " wow... that was really cool " (both of them tbh)

° how she acts around him: areum is extremely cautious about her actions, and him-- after all, no one can find out that she's the daughter of two government officials. there's no mistaking that he's strong, and that he is a potential partner in crime (literally), but areum has always worked alone for the past two purges. he could probably feel how tense she is from a mile away, and though she acts all calm and cool on the outside (as usual), the gears in her head are making sure she has a way to escape him if she needs to. as time goes by, and as he tries very effectively to win her trust, she lowers those barriers down a little and does try her best to keep the little shit alive (no matter how many times he tends to go the opposite direction and run straight into other blood-thirsty purgers).

° how he acts around her: caught mostly by how graceful she moves, his guard is slightly lower than hers is. he trusts her to the extent where he'll defend her if there are traps or they're surrounded, but not where he'll completely let his guard down and think that she won't kill him. he's the one that tries to make their little get-together a little more casual than tense, talking to her and asking her questions (to which she coolly replies with vague answers if they're about her, which he can't blame her for). as he starts to see that she decides to trust him more, jimin finds himself a lot more infatuated with her than he used to be-- and NOT just because she manages to evade all the killers while he manages to get all their attention.

° trust or betrayal: he'll keep her trust.. the question is, will she?
