  5. Jinx unilaterally left this conversation, too.

  7. Unilateral conversation leaving is an extremely toxic trait.

  9. It means, generally, some combination of the following: 1) the speaker is sufficiently emotionally volatile that they get to a point where they simply cannot take it anymore and have to leave abruptly, 2) their communication skills are insufficient to have them communicate their rising displeasure before the period of being overwhelmed, 3) they lack sufficient emotional awareness to see they're becoming overw

  16. You'll notice that I, for example, was becoming quite displeased with Jinx for some of their patterns in communication, and so I communicated that.

  18. Then, shortly later, they unilaterally left. I get the sense it was important to them to shut the door first, so to speak, so that it wouldn't be shut on them, because that would upset them.

  20. You see this kind of behavior in immature relationships.
  21. infspire
  22. To highlight this, a moderately high empathy response could have been, "Why are you displeased?"
  23. infspire
  24. You do not get the sense that was important to Jinx -- only hanging up the phone first.
  25. infspire
  26. I am happy to have Jinx out of my life for the next 12 months.

  28. While they are pretty smart -- we've debated several times before -- almost every one of our conversations goes the way this one just went.
  29. infspire
  30. A smart person, being highly nuanced, leads only to apparent confusion and full inability to make any progress on the topic, followed by unilateral conversation leaving.
  31. infspire
  32. This is an exceptionally toxic pattern.
