- What is the proper method to do 301 redirect to a new domain
- I have redirected two expired relevant domains to my money site. The 301 redirects that i have applied are from the domain dashboard(web forwarder). I am not hosting the domains. The redirect i applied is like this:
- ++++++++++++++
- list of top cheapest host http://Listfreetop.pw
- Top 200 best traffic exchange sites http://Listfreetop.pw
- free link exchange sites list http://Listfreetop.pw
- list of top ptc sites
- list of top ptp sites
- Listfreetop.pw
- Listfreetop.pw
- +++++++++++++++
- www.exp-domain.com >> www.domain.com
- Now the problem is :
- If The try to open any internal link of the expired domain(www.exp-domain.com/xyz)..it opens (www.domain.com/xyz) and shows a 404 in the money site. I want all internal pages to rediect to the home page of money site.
- How can i achieve that? I am not hosting these domains .I have just applied forward from the domain dashboard. Please advice
- create links , find the links to create from ahrefs , run a small script to create those links n the directory structure
- . htaccess
- handle 404 on the new domain
- create links , find the links to create from ahrefs , run a small script to create those links n the directory structure
- Will redirecting all 404s to Homepage of the new domain resolve the problem?
- I cant use .htaccess because the expired domain is not hosted anywhere. I have just applied a 301 redirect from the domain dashboard of the domain registar
- it should but honestly i would do it a different way ( as explained )
- others with more knowledge can tell you .
- i would make sure all old links still work
- and 404 to homepage as a backup
- Not sure if this is what you mean but when I changed domains I just redirected pages to the homepage, and from the homepage I redirected to the new website domain.
- Let me know if this is what you mean.

- Can you explain what your approach should be?
- 1: redirect all internal links of the expired domain to the expired domains home page
- 2: then 301 redirect the expired domain to the main website.
- 3: Redirect all 404s of the main website to its homepage.

- You mean to say, first you redirect all internal pages of that expired domain to its home page, then apply 301 redirect to the money site...Am i correct here?

- You're correct. It didn't seem to affect the websites SEO, but I would hate to see your SEO affected by this so you might want to wait for a different answer.
