  3. -------------
  4. Bored, here's some ideas about imp society - consider it a tie-in to the Impthropology series of greens.
  5.
  6. >as discussed before, insurance doesn't exist in imp society
  7. >as they copied a lot of things from the Sinners that arrived in Hell, they would eventually begin to pick and choose from human societal concepts and conventions
  8. >as a result, they've managed to cut out a lot parasitic middleman industries that would hamper economic or social development...
  9. >...but, with Hell being Hell, you can be assured that these decisions weren't executed without going into the extremes
  10.
  11. >Imps, while paying a monthly sum to a universal Healthcare package (that's strictly subscription based, allowing them to choose a private provider, should they want to), but have no insurances for anything
  12. >the best defense for your property and possessions is either traps, or a good community
  13. >the latter is almost always a given, considering that imps tend to live in semi-gated communities that are treated as no-go zone's for prospective overlords, and are typically under the management and patronage of a Goetian
  14. >the relatively small size of these communities (with the largest one being Imp City), has led to high property prices
  15. >to prevent the emergence of a parasitic elite of landlords, and to promote businesses, Imps have foregone income tax in favor of Georgism, while larger settlements are filled with council housing projects
  16. >squatters' rights are provided for those especially down on their luck, and in need of immediate shelter
  17.
  18. >of course, the system is far from perfect, and is frequently abused - imp-like Sinners often move into imp communities, Hell hounds are stuck in a legal grey area, and dubiously-legitimate businesses often occupy buildings condemned and slated for demolition (mostly due to no longer being up to safety standards)
  19. >that's how I.M.P. got their office, for example
  20. >gentrification efforts are often stalled out because of this, especially in the Pride Ring
  21. -
  22. Tangentially related, but I think the reason that Sinners generally aren't allowed out of the Pride ring is because 99.999% of them are violent criminals. While we've seen that Imps are no better, they at least have a functional, multilayered society that doesn't rely almost entirely on fear. Judging by the relationships that M&M and Millie's parents have, these kind of relationships are the norm rather than the exception. Its a bit of a stretch, but Imps likely have a more grounded sense of morality than sinners (who reminder are almost all murderers). Imps are also more vulnerable than sinners, assuming that only angelic weapons can put sinners down for good. Imps can be permanently killed by normal bullets, and they have far less access to arcane powers than sinners/ overlords do (There's no way Blitz and Verosika are not exceptions).
  23. While some sinners might be able to get a pass to other rings (Overlord patronage and business for example) access is generally barred on the threat of perma-death.
  24. ---
  25. Interesting idea. I'd imagine Pride would be an AnCap nightmare. Services such as water, electricity and healthcare exist but are the exception rather than the norm, also you have to pay out the ass for it. And it being hell, I would imagine that there wouldn't be any laws in place to prevent monopolies, this is by design to maximize the suffering of the inhabitants. Don't know if this would extend into the imp areas as well though. After all, they aren't there to be punished, although I would imagine things aren't too rosy either. Probably a lot of extortion rackets save for the institutions ran by nobility.
