MG roulette (Talk show)

Penny sighed to herself for what she felt like the 12th time this morning as the camera crew did the finishing touches before they went live.

The higher-ups of the station had told her that they were treating her walkout as a stress break. Penny did feel like the last few months that had not been kind to her, so she agreed to let them spin it that way.

She still first agreed with the amount of attention this `monster` craze was getting but until there was true proof that they existed or the she would have to deal with it. Especially since the subject was bound to show up one way or another.

And now she was seated in her usual seat along side, Steven and Amy who where conversing with each other during the wait. She was running late had had no real time to read the schedule for today's show. All she could tell was that they were having multiple guests today as the long guest sofa was set up.

What was troubling her was the feeling of giddiness Steven was giving off. Not only was it like he couldn't wait to get started, she couldn't remember the last time he was so energetic about anything. She decided not to question it too much as the opening jingles started.

“Hello and as usual welcome to the morning topic, I'm Steven Kyle and with me today as usual is Amy Blair and returning from her break is Penny Davis!” Steven talked as the camera panned over Penny and Amy. “Today we have a few special guests prepared today that I'm really excited for you to meet. But before we start on that, let me just say that's its its good to see you back penny.” Steven said happily.

“It's good to be back. That break was just what I needed.” Penny said.

“Now then, for those of us knot in the know, Penny had a little bit of a stressful time and had to leave us for some time.” Amy addressed the camera.

“Right” Penny confirmed “While I still disagree with it, walking out was a bit childish on my part. I trust you bring this up as the same subject is part of today's show?” she was annoyed to have to deal with this right when she got back, but kept it to herself.

“Why yes it does!” Steven was getting excited and addressed the camera while Amy just let out a nervous laugh. “If you remember, for a while now we have addressed the growing thing of `monsters` sweeping across London. Though Amy's research we found out what we could and came across the e-mail known only as the MG roulette. Today I would like to expand on that subject.”

“Expand?” Amy asked.

“That's right, expand. I can now inform you that most of the rumours regarding the e-mail are indeed true. The email result is random and women involved are inhuman.” Steven said with a smile.

“And how do you know this?” Penny asked Steven  “Did you personally interview one of these people yourself?”

“That's what I thought to do but then I had a better idea; why not bring them here?” Steven answered. “And you both know that I say that the best experience is first hand.”

It was simple for both co-hosts to connect the dots, Penny beat Amy to the question. “Are you telling me Steven, that you used that email?”

“Rather then tell you, I'd rather show you and those at home, please welcome to the guest couch, Norah!”

Responding to the call, A woman with entered the set and seated her self on the guest sofa. She was dressed casually, simple t-shirt and jeans, but what caught Penny and Amy's attention was the black furred paws she had for arms and legs, along with a fluffy tail and occasional twitching dog ears.

“...Well, um welcome to the show... Norah” was it?” Amy greeted

“Norah of the red sands, and thank you, I must admit that it is a bit strange being here after watching on that TV thing for so many days.” Norah replied politely.

“Of the red sands?”

“We don't really have second names where I'm from, so usually we a called after our birth place. Though I had to lean one or two things from the blue sage, or else I would have been calling Steven `Steven of the Kyle`."

Penny choose this time to asks her question “So you bought a girl to me in order to prove that the game is real?” she turned to Norah “I suppose you want me to believe you are what you say you are, right?”

Norah's eyes narrowed but she nodded all the same “There is no reason to lie, I am what I am.”

“And I am to believe you where born with those dog parts you have right now?”

“Indeed. Just like my predecessors.” Norah was starting to show signs of annoyance.

“If I'm not being rude, does your race have a name?” Amy asked before Penny could voice another question.

Norah's expression softened. “I am what is called a Anubis. I like most of my kind were formerly guardians to the Pharaohs of our land.” she spoke of her people with pride. "With the tomb I once protected gone to the sands, I sought new endeavours.”

“Anubis... like the Egyptian god?”

“It appears we bear similarity to this world's gods, but I can't say for sure. All I am is all I know.” Nora told Amy. “It has intrigued me, I must research it a some point in time.”

“I see, so how long have you...”

Penny remained quiet as she observed Steven and Amy talking with the Anubis. She had been convinced that the whole monster girl thing was just women in costumes in some weird craze, now she wasn't so sure. The way those ears twitched and tail moved was spurring the doubts in her own belief.

It was after some talking about Norah's traits and her relationship with Steven that he addressed the camera “All right, not that we've gotten to know the lovely Norah, I would like to invite are next two guests. Please welcome up, Alex Davis and Richard Samson!”

“What?” Penny almost shouted as the two young men in question ended and seated on the guest sofa beside Norah. Penny didn't need to be told who these two were, it was her son and the son of her friend Louise. And knowing that it was Steven who called them here made a sense of dread grow inside her.

“You may remember Alex as the son of Penny here.” Steven informed. “And Richard is the son of one of our background researchers. Say hello boys.”

“Hi” said Alex.

“Good to be here.” said Rick

“Alex don't tell me Steven dragged you two into this?” Penny said worried.

“He didn't, we kinda discovered the E-mail by ourselves and ran into Steven after we had used it." her son replied.

That was something Penny didn't want to hear. “After? What do you mean by after?”

“We got the e-mail and used it. That's pretty much all there is to it.”

That was all it took for Alex's mother to erupt. “Why didn't you tell me! You know damn well how I feel about this stupid craze with the costumed women!” penny raged.

“I did it because you would not believe this thing any other way. We've all heard the rumours of the women with snake bodies, the weather controlling dragons and even the multi-tailed foxes. And after all that you don't believe them. Even now with a woman like Norah in front of you, your still holding on!” Alex countered

“Believe me Penny magic is real, it was part of my `encouragement` to stop drinking coffee and switched to tea.” Steven spoke and gave Norah a glare that she didn't react too.

“I told you that if there was one thing I would refuse to budge on, it's your consumption of that black tar along with those cans of sugar.” The Anubis said sternly. “What I make for you in the mornings is more then enough.”

“What to you mean by encouragement?” Amy asked.

“Norah would use a spell to paralyse me to prevent me from drinking coffee. If she caught me drinking the stuff the spells would get worse.” Steven started to shudder and mumble about `mummy's curse`.

“Do you hear yourselves? Your being told that monsters and magic strait out of legends exist and you are completely fine with it!” Penny almost shouted.

“We are fine with it because we have seen for ourselves what they are, today is just as much for you as it is for some people that still don't believe this is happening” Steven asked.

“You said yourself that you would believe this thing if somebody had live proof seeing as you wrote off the twin greens indecent as `CG and lies.` so when I got the E-mail myself I thought `Why don't I let myself be the proof?` Rick having the email and Steven wanting this show was just the coincidence I needed.” Alex added on.

Penny couldn't argue with that, challenging her on her own show was probably the best way to do this as she would not be able to deny what could happen, so she calmed down a notch. “Fine then, bring your proof.”

“Well then that means I should bring up our next guest” Steven spoke as if thee tension from the mother son argument didn't exist. “Please welcome Richards girlfriend, Montana!”

Penny had prepared herself for another beast-like woman not far from Norah, so she could be able to keep her denial.

What she didn't expect was the woman that was now seated next to rick with tanned ash-white hair and glowing orange eyes with black sclera. Like Norah she was dressed in casual clothes but instead of fluffy limbs she had monstrous claws with her arms glowing orange where dripping some  sludge-like substance.

“Hi everyone!” Montana greeted.

Penny and Amy both took a moment to stare at the new arrival before Penny said flatly “Hello, young lady.”

“Oh don;t worry with all that. Just call me Montana like Ricky does.” Montana said happily.

Steve repeated the same question Amy had asked Norah “So Montana what do they call your kind?”

“Lava golem” Montana answered. “Don't worry though, I don't burn what I touch. But its is nice to feel me, right?” she looked at Rick, who was decided there was something interesting in the other direction.

“I don't understand,  how can you function?” Amy asked with full curiosity on her face.

“I don't really know myself, I never really thought to much about how I exist, I just kinda do. Though a lot of people ask me that, I wonder why.” Montana shrugged.

“Because you are made of lava.” Penny answered with a sigh. “Quite a lot of people would like know how exactly molten rock lives.

“Coming around to believing this Penny?” Steven asked his co host.

“I can't deny what's in front of me, as much as I want to.” Penny turned to her son. “Why hasn't anyone come out for you?”

“what?” Alex asked

“You wanted to prove to me that this is real. Now show me the woman you've met though this `game`. Even if you've achieved what you set out to do. I'm still annoyed that you went behind my back for this.” Penny crossed her arms. “So tell me, what did you get, A dragon perhaps? or one of those demons?”

“That is actually a good question. You did show you had the email, but you didn't tell us.” Steven said and Rick nodded.

“Well you see.” Alex said “I'm... not sure how to explain this, but she's been here the entire time.” Everyone, Including the monsters look that him with various levels of confusion. Alex's brown eyes then flashed blue for a second and before she could question it  before deep blue liquid seemed to form out of the air in front of him.

“What the hell!” Penny cried in shock as the others looked on in awe as the the liquid expanded out in to the shape of a woman with light blue patterns covering a sapphire coloured body complete with long `hair`, when she finished forming blue eyes opened to see everyone but Alex staring at her.

“Everyone, this is Linda.” Alex said.

“Greetings.” The being, now named Linda greeted with a soft voice.

“Linda here is a water spirit known as a Undine.” Alex informed the others. “I'm not exactly sure how a living force of nature works as a girlfriend works exactly. But I'm willing to try”

“I think it's the first time I've seen a elemental spirit.” Norah said intrigued

“It's the first time I've seen a water one, there was a Ignis near my volcano.” Montana said thoughtfully.

“I would not be surprised about that as we spirits have only recently begun interact with others, both human and monster.” Linda informed.

Penny was trying to keep calm as she stared down the water spirit. Just by appearing Linda had buried any notion she had left of the game being false. “how where you able to summon her like that?” she asked her son.

Linda answered for him “Simply one the things he could do now that the two of as our bonded.”

“What do you mean by `bonded`?” Penny asked with concern.

The spirits face took on a thinking look. “I suppose the best way to explain it would be like what you would call marriage.” Linda said as Alex let out a groan.

“Alex... do mean to tell me that you've taken this woman as your wife with out telling me?” Penny growled out.

Alex shifted uncomfortably in his seat as all focus was on him “No! I mean... um... It isn't official yet.”

“But as I told him...” Linda said as she melted into nothingness only to reform behind Alex and put her arms around him, leaning her head on his shoulder. “Our bond doesn't need ceremony, being with my beloved is all I want. Your abilities is proof enough of our bond.” she finished happily as Alex put his head in his hands and groaned even louder.

“Abilities?” Penny was unsure about where this was going.

Alex didn't respond with words but looked at Linda with a unspoken question and the spirit simply nodding eagerly, he reached is hand out to Amy's glass of water. His eyes once again glowed blue as he lifted is hand. To everyone's shock the water followed the upward motion and flowed into the air to start moving around his arms. He mover the stream to his other hand before sending the water back in to Amy's glass.

“Wha? But... hang on, how?” Penny tried to find the right words. The others  witnesses were also trying to find a response.

“This is the what my partner can achieve already. A human that bonds with one of us gains the power over the respective element.” Linda told everyone.

“In other words, I now have control over water basted substances among one or two other things.”Alex finished off.

“Oh dear god...” was all Penny could say. In truth if it wasn't for Montana appearing earlier she would have freaked out a lot more.

“We spirits are one with nature, what better way to connect with our husbands then to give them first hand what we feel constantly?”

Penny decided to Ignore the murmurs of how romantic that sounds from the other women in the room “You can't just marry someone out of the blue! How long have you know each other?”

“About several months, I guess.”

Penny was stunned silent by that reveal. She had assumed he had only been hiding this for a week or so in order to plan all of this with Steve and Rick, but to be hiding it for months was something else. Then again, given the way she appeared it would not be too hard to hide Linda from her.

“And how exactly is this bond made?” Steven asked.

Alex went into minor panic “Um... trade secret?” I didn't take a mind reader to tell he did not want to talk about it.

“Really Alex? I think its great the we get to share the wondrous time when we-” Linda started before Alex cover her mouth with her hand.

“No! None of that! They seriously do not need to know!” Alex said hastily.

“I actually want to know, maybe I can pick up some tips?” said Montana, making it Rick's turn to look uncomfortable.

“Now its not the time or place for this conversation.” Alex growled out through gritted teeth.

Thankfully for him, his mother decided to save him by moving turning to Rick “And I take it Louise knows about her?” she gestured to Montana.

“My mother approves just as long as she takes a lot of milk before somebody visits.” Rick replied.

“I see..” not wanting to try questioning the comment about milk she looked around her. Every one was waiting for her to act, even the camera crew looked eager to hear what she had to say. “Fine then.” Penny said aloud

“What do you mean? Asked Amy

“I admit I sorry for labelling you ant others from the game as “Girls in costumes” but I want to talk to you more about your... fiancée. My son will not be in a relationship with a person I don't know.”

Linda just smiled. “It would be nice to know the mother of my Partner.”

“This honestly is almost too much for me.” Penny said as she grabbed her of glass of water on the table, “dammit” she muttered to herself as before she finished drinking. Placing it back down she noticed Linda staring at the almost empty glass. “What is it?”

“You look like you want some more water. Would you you like some?” Linda offered while she once more disappeared from view to reappear in front of the table with what looked like a clay pot in her hands.

Repressing the urge to question it, Penny gave her a thank you and gave the spirit her glass to fill. While that was going on she turned to her co host's “Well it's my first day back and I not only get by beliefs proven wrong but I also find, my co host is in a relationship, out my son is `engaged` to a living force of nature and has also become some form of wizard. You wouldn't happen to have any other surprise for me?” even she was not sure if her voice was filled with humour or anger.

Steven shook his head. “That's about it for surprises as far as I know. Hell we've taken a lot of time. Actually.” He then to the camera. “well people at home I hope this was as informative to you as it was for us, a warm thank you to our guests this morning as we sign off, As always I'm Steven Kyle and as always, thanks for watching!.

The jingles started up as the cameramen signalled that they where of the air. Steven, Amy and the monster girls apart from Linda started to talk amongst them selves.

“You asked me about how Montana functions, Is should be asking you the same thing about Linda.” Rick told Alex with a grin as they walked back stage with Penny and Linda .

“Oh don't freaking start now man!” Alex whined.

“I will start! You gave me crap about being with a lava golem and then when you got with living water! At least my girl's got some solids about her.”

“I'm actually more interested about this `bonding` you refused to talk about when we where on the air” Penny said.

“Does it need be now?” Alex said worried.

“You just revealed your relationship that you've managed to hide from me for months on live TV. I think I deserve this.” Penny said.

“Ah, I see but.” Alex looked around before until he saw some thing that made him smile. “Your gonna have to wait a bit longer!” he shouted as his eyes started to glow once more and he broke into a sprint. Pulling the water from a spilled over mop bucket to his legs, Alex surfed a miniature wave out of the studio with Linda floating out after him and shouting apologies about the mess along the way.

“That is so cool!” Rick said in amusement.

Penny on the other hand was not amused. “Oi! You will not avoid this! Get back her right now!” she shouted as she chased after her son. One way or another, she was going to get her answers from him today!
