HOW IT WORKS :-

If you're unfamiliar with the JOATT Format from the previous Tournament, this is how it works!
Unlike in other Tournaments, there will be 5 Qualifying Races, of 5 different Randomizer Settings. These will be held on 5 Successive Saturdays, starting from the 15th January 2022. You are awarded Points based on your placement in a Qualifier Race, and by the end of all 5, the players with the most points will form the Top 8 Championship Bracket. (Last time there was a seperate Bracket for 9th -> 16th players, though this won't be happening this time to really highlight how important it is to get into the top 8!)

Now this is where it gets different from the first JOATT Tournament...
(Please Note that this is all Subject to change based on feedback and future testing)

For the Top 8, an additional 5 Settings will be added to the pool, making 10 in Total. This allows for more variety between rounds and matches in the Top 8, and we have a large selection of established Settings to where I think this is a positive idea. I will list all of the Settings that are currently being considered later in this pastebin, and if you have ANY Questions or Concerns regarding a Setting, please let me know (My Discord is iSalad#7590).

BAN SYSTEM FOR TOP 8 :-
For Game 1:
1. From 5 settings (those used in qualifiers), settings are banned 1-2-1, starting with higher seed

Counterpick Selections:
1. Higher Seed bans 2 of the remaining 9
2. Lower Seed chooses from available. This is their Counterpick setting.
3. Lower Seed bans 2 of the remaining 6
4. Higher Seed chooses from available. This is their Counterpick setting

Game 2:
Will be played on the Counterpick setting of the Game 1 Loser

Game 3:
If necessary, will be played on the Counterpick setting of the Game 1 Winner

Example:
The banning process is done before the match. The first game is one of the 5 qualifier settings. The higher seed bans the first setting, and then the lower seed bans two settings, leaving the higher seed to pick between the last two settings. This determines the settings of game 1. For game 2, the higher seed will ban two settings from the remaining 9 settings not picked. The lower seed then gets to pick from the remaining 7 settings. For game 3, the lower seed will ban two settings from the remaining 6 settings not picked. The higher seed then gets to pick from the remaining 4 settings.

Here's another example with, say, Runner 1 (R1) and Runner 2 (R2).
Runner 1 is the higher seed so he bans 1 of 5 settings from the Starter list first. Let's say he bans Beginner Blitz.
Runner 2 then decides to ban Spring League with Timed Hints and 3 Line Bingo.
This leaves Runner 1 to choose between ABN and Level 1. We'll say Runner 1 picks Level 1 here. This is the "starter setting".

After the settings for game 1 is decided, then the counterpicks are figured out. So now Runner 1 gets to ban 2 out of the 9 remaining settings, since Level 1 has already been picked. Let's say Runner 1 bans Yeet the Bear and Spoiler Log. Now Runner 2 decides what they want to pick. Let's say they pick ABN.

Then, Runner 2 gets to ban two of the remaining 6 settings, since Level 1/ABN were picked and Yeet the Bear/Spoiler Log were banned. Let's say Runner 2 then bans Timed Hints and Fall League. Runner 1 now gets to pick any of the remaining 4 for their counterpick. Let's say they pick 2022 AHA Charity Settings.

Now here's how the game plays out.
1. Level 1 is the first setting. Runner 1 wins.
2. ABN is the second setting. Runner 2 wins.
3. AHA Charity is the third setting. Runner 1 wins.
The games can play out whenever obviously.
But now the players know what 3 settings to practice before the tournament match starts; Level 1, ABN, and AHA Charity Settings.

As I did for the first JOATT, I will be contributing $200 to the Prize Pool!
