  3. Hello, how can I help you
  4. Julie - Yesterday at 11:01 PM
  5. Hello, I found your ad on the UE4 forums. My team and I may be looking for a full-time programmer in the near future.
  6. Would you be available for something full time, if it came to that?
  7. ANixon - Yesterday at 11:03 PM
  8. Yes I would.

  10. Now you've mostly worked on shooter games yeah? That's, I believe, what I was seeing in your portfolio?
  11. ANixon - Yesterday at 11:09 PM
  12. A majority have been shooter games but I have also worked on things such as Isometric HTML games built using the Unreal Engine and its HTML5 emscripten tool to even Social Games that are completely driven on multiplayer interaction. My portfolio is a little outdated I will admit.(edited)

  14. This game might be a little different that what you're used to. It's a farming game, a-la Harvest Moon. Are you familiar with that title at all?
  15. ANixon - Yesterday at 11:12 PM
  16. I am not, sorry.

  18. Hmm, Stardew Valley would be a more recent and popular example. It's a farming sim game, basically. Very cutesy, no combat. I can understand if that's not your cup of redbull.

  20. Stardew Valley rings a bell.
  21. I like trying new things so I am definitely interested, its getting boring working on shooter games after you've done it for so long.

  23. So at this moment, my team doesn't know that I'm looking at programmers. We're very stressed at the moment, we've had a lot going on in a very short amount of time. So I can't technically say too much until I get the OK from my team lead. But I can tell you a few things:
  24.
  25. - This is a passion project for most of us. We've put in a lot of high value time, and haven't taken any payment.
  26. - We will have the money to hire a developer/programmer. We won't at all be asking you to work for free, or even for an unfairly low price.
  27. - We have been burned before. We hired a programmer once before, he did very shitty work and fucked off with a lot of money. This makes us nervous to hire on new folks, so I'll tell you now the rest of my team would need to see you doing your best work.
  28. - We currently have a bomb-ass 3D artist/animator who has been doing the majority of our programming through blueprint (I think?). We have a team leader who has been keeping this project alive for almost 2 years. We have me, and I do all of the front-end PR work involving people.
  29. Sorry, bit of a wall of text.
  30. In short, we have our healer, and two DPS. We need a tank :P

  32. That's something I hear all the time sadly, programmers taking advantage of small projects and claiming things they are not capable of. I'm not only here to make money but also make connections as that only means more opportunities in the future.
  33. Julie - Yesterday at 11:39 PM
  34. I'm talking to my team lead tomorrow, but is there anything else you'd like me to know? I know I've given you very little, I'm sorry for the secrecy but I have to have a level of CMA y'know? :P
  35. ANixon - Yesterday at 11:50 PM
  36. I'll let you know my game plan and maybe you can present this to them. Lets say I was to start working on the project. What I would suggest we do, as I do with each project I join, is go through everything that is currently in the project from a programming stand point. I would review it over the course of a few days depending on the size of the project. From there I would create an Excel document to present to you and/or the team so everything is completely transparent and you can ask questions or express concerns on timelines etc. This document will have all the tasks that need to be redone and a description explaining my reasoning. It will also contain all the tasks that I would be required to do after I am provided the design documentation (assuming you have one).

  38. You had me at excel.
