That's when they arrived. Hundreds of them. Their small yet capable space shuttles were so many that it seemed as if the stars had decided to fall. Their pods lit up the night sky like the sun at its very peak, emitting an almost blinding light.  Their pods repeatedly crashed down upon the earth,  sending small tremors quaking out and about - grabbing everyone's attention as they did so. But the cherry atop all of this?  A massive ship amidst a vast sea of smaller transport vehicles. Its landing was subtle and quiet compared to the others. It was clear this ship carried someone of great importance, perhaps their leader? That's all I could assume for now.

 I and my partner Puro approached the larger ship and were instantly met with two guards armed with weapons of the likes in which we had never seen before. There was absolutely no correlation between as to how these beings looked, every single one of them was unique in one way or the other. I could sense that their energy signals were somewhat similar as if they all belong to one race.

The two guards did not bother to even make contact or look at us, they simply awaited as a female being now stepped out of the ship along with what I could only describe as her counsel. I believe they attempted to make contact at first, their language consisted of clicks and ticks, almost like how primal animals communicate but they were clearly far more advanced than that.

I reached for my badge and ID, putting it on display for the four beings present to see but I never expected for them to understand it anyway.

"I'm Officer Nikk and this is my partner Officer Puro of planet Eledaus," I spoke, allowing a small pause for them to gather what I had said.

"I don't know who or what you are but this... this doesn't seem like a very friendly gesture." I clearly declared this time around, hoping for a response in one way or another.

The "queen" and counsellor stepped forth in silence for a what seemed to be an eternity.

And finally, the counsellor spoke.

"Our home planet was struck by an asteroid too massive to stop. What you see here is what remains of our people. We seek shelter, through peaceful or violent means."

Midway through that sentence, my headset buzzed. An almost desperate voice rung through my ears.

"This is an announcement to all officers, we have multiple reports of these beings becoming hostile after being told to get back in their pods and leave!"

I looked towards my partner and he looked back at me. I threw a simple nod his way as my hand was quick to reach for my holstered energy blaster. Everything stopped and it felt like time had slowed down, this was a do or die situation.
