Sergeant Christopher James jumped off from the ramp of the Attack Chopper and immediately swept the area with the muzzle of his rifle. Behind him, his subordinates spread in a disciplined manner, covering the entire area in a second before the Attack Chopper took off.

The sound of the Attack Chopper slowly faded away. James surveyed the area: trees, branches, loose vines and knee deep murky water. He waded through the swamp and carefully checked if there are any rebels that might be lurking in wait. Seeing none, he made a hand sign to follow him.

They moved quietly across the jungle. The leaves and branches were too thick for the moonlight to permeate through. Their only guidance in the dark was the Ultraviolet Visors attached on their faceplates and the glow of a swarm of alien insects.

They used the motion detectors displayed on the bottom left of their visor as their guide to reach their designated mission point. The journey didn’t take half an hour. A rising pillar of smoke rose from the distance and the sound of laughter and chatter could be heard.

Wordlessly, they crouched and moved in a formation. They approached the source of the smoke with a speed faster than light. Their armors hummed silently as its camouflage effect activated, concealing them from the naked eye. They quietly peered through the bushes and leaves and there, he saw the Xi Rebels gathering around a bonfire. Some were tending with weapons, some were appearing from the tents around them and some were eating. James drew the large knife from his back and pulled an unaware uniformed rebel before sitting before him.

He slit the man’s neck; gurgling sounds escaped his throat. The Impact Troopers appeared from the bushes and began storming them with bullets from high caliber weapons. Flesh and blood spilled onto the wet ground of the jungle. The darkness was pushed back abruptly every time a rifle spoke. Death hung in the air as the men and women of the Human Colonial Government slaughtered the rebels without mercy. Within seconds, the Xi Rebels fell to the ground with perforated bodies. None managed to fight back.

“Extermination Mission is successful. Heading back to the E Point, over.” James spoke after he pressed the button on the left side of his headgear.

“Affirmative, Stonehard.” A voice replied back. “Be careful when you get back here.”

Just as Sergeant James turned, an explosion erupted from behind. James crouched and aimed. A Xi Rebel wearing a jungle camouflage battle dress appeared into view and opened fire. Rounds bounced off harmlessly from the plates of his armor. He fired back and hit the rebel in the chest and face numerous times before he fell backwards.

He crouched and moved near the bushes and reloaded. He peeked over and fired at the other rebel he spotted, hitting him in the neck.

“Keep moving back to the Extraction Point!” James ordered. They began to ran back the way they came, using the shadows casted by the trees as their cover. James turned and returned fire at a rebel, hitting him squarely in the chest. He continued his own escape until they reached the E Point where an Attack Chopper floated silently, waiting for them.

The Chopper turned to their direction; James and his squad scattered as the transport opened fire. Rebels fell from where they stood as the twin machineguns rattled.

The jungles became quiet once again as soon as the firing stops and the rebels were all dead. James and his team embarked on the chopper where they left a burning pyre behind.

Commander Xiao Zhing Nguyen clutched a dead comrade’s headless body. He silently wept; the remaining survivors of the Xi Rebels gathered behind him. He promised to avenge the death of his men.

“Mobilize the Cell Agents across the cities.” Nguyen ordered. “We will take Richter in the name of the League.”
