  61. hey! how's it going? as for the thread, it's all good. i've just been slow as molasses from traveling abroad and falling sick since coming back. i'm still in and out of the hospital as of late, but thank you for the concern! it's very much appreciated.
  62.
  63. as for prompts; is there a particular scenario you'd like to play? i know i'm slow, but if there's a certain scene or direction you'd like then i don't mind putting up a starter the next time. cross canon shenanigans are fine by me!

  110. [It was a fucked up time, you know, with the end of the world happening and all. But still, it was New Years eve tonight, and she and Chris had managed to actually hole up in a nice apartment that had a fireplace---not that they should use it, but she would let Chris weigh in on that one. Rummaging about she found some canned food too, and a bottle of sparkling cider.
  111.
  112. It would be a nice little New Year celebration for them. Now she was just waiting for the moment when midnight was to be and profit!
  113.
  114. She hoped he was in as good a mood as she was because this place was a relative fucking treasure trove, as it were.]
  115.
  116. So, Chris---what do you think we should do about the fireplace?
  117.

  124. [ Following the search of his sister through another no-name town, it was only a few days ago that Chris was on his way and burning through the Midwest. Often skipping town and hopping bars while digging through any abandoned labs that escaped the DSO's watchful eye. Most of the time they were set up in commuter towns or sprawling cities. With Chris tailing as much activity as he could, operating outside of the BSAA's jurisdictions and cutting deals with Leon to keep his snooping around a secret.
  125.
  126. So far, he was falling short of a few steps behind any jittery researchers and their experiments. Often met with recently abandoned facilities and clinging onto any hastily discarded notes or papers. For now; his plan was to cut through Wisconsin, meet up with Jill the next state over, and hopefully find a solid clue to Claire and Barry's whereabouts. The widespread infection came as a shock, but the DSO and TerraSave were the first to act on home soil. Leaving the UN and the BSAA to take care of the rest, but after losing trail of Claire and Barry—He and Jill were more than all right with leaving their squad and partners in capable hands in the meantime, respectively.
  127.
  128. After stepping out of the apartment to find better signal, he's back inside just before dark. Calling in Jill know about his situation and tipping off Leon on the heavy number of infected in the area. Along with a few biting jokes about the new year ahead. Eventually tossing the beat-up phone in the opened pouch of his bag which was seated on an old chair in the kitchenette of the apartment. In a slightly better mood this time, he sets his hip on the half wall. Arms crossed while shooting the nurse an odd smile.
  129.
  130. Meeting up and celebrating the coming new year under such circumstances all seem odd to him, although he doesn't make any moves to shoot down her attempts at lightening up the mood either. Figuring cooperation on both sides would be more appreciated than being a wet blanket, versus running into arguments and possibly endangering someone who could do some good around the area. ]
  131.
  132. Outside of tossing a few logs in for a fire? No. Though I wouldn't do what I just suggested, either. [ With the place starting to warm up after he flipped a few switches and moved a couple wires around to get the electricity running, it was nice to hear the hum of a heater again. Home or not, all the constant running around made him wish for a night or so of sitting around and dozing off. ] Unless you're talking about maybe decorating the top of it.. I'm afraid I can't be much help there.
  133.
  134. [ It wasn't his place to mess around with anyone's things, too. ]

  140. Right. [She sighed heavily. She really could use a fire about now, but she knew why it was a bad idea. ] I know it was a bad idea, but I wanted your input as well. [She said with a bit of a frown. Moving into the kitchenette, she grabbed some different pots and pans. At least the pilot lights still worked, and they could have hot food without alerting the massive, roaming dead on the outside.]
  141.
  142. At least we can have hot food. I found a veritable gold mine of eats. Beans and such, nothing too fancy. [She set about cooking now. Opening this can or that can. She could make three bean salad with the canned goods, baked beans with bacon. There were canned pears, and corned beef hash. They looked, and smelled good.]
  143.
  144. Can you grab some settings? I found a couple of bottles of premium wine too. Not that advocating getting drunk, but it will be nice to have something when the clock strikes.

  186. Hey, I posted to you in a meme earlier. But I was wondering if you like other cross canon people? I am looking for other zombie universes to play against/in.
  187.
  188. Ana is from Dawn of the Dead 2004 remake. I try to incorporate Romero's universe in her canon. Especially Land of the Dead where there is a last place standing and people go out to get things in zombie territories. As well as where the zombies are gaining more mental clarity as they look for better treatment by killing the one man who has been letting his people abuse theirs.
  189. The reply was:
  190. I am always up for cross-canon people! And zombie universes are excellent.
  191.
  192. I confess that I'm not terribly familiar with that particular canon, so if you ever wanted to do something oriented in that universe, you would probably have to do some explaining (and me some researching), but I am certainly interested.

  419. {OOC normally if I tag I always start it. Just now I think it would be more prudent to have someone more familiar with its world state how the place is set up? I think you might do a better job of setting the ambiance?
  420.
  421. I was thinking though that maybe Ana got stuck in a room with another guy, someone bigger who was able to get loose and helps her to get loose. That way together they can take down whomever is in the room with them? Then they try to leave, and as the leader he gets killed? Leaving Ana alone. Plus, I see this ending so bad for my girl here :).

  425. Every hive belonging to Umbrella was set up to be an impenetrable fortress, which went both ways. No one that wasn't supposed to get out would be able to, or so it was meant to go. Only the Raccoon City hive had been escaped from, and even then, the escapees were taken into custody immediately after. It wasn't uncommon for test subjects, especially survivors, to try and escape, but few succeeded in making it more than a few feet from their test tubes, holding cells, prisons... whatever happened to be keeping them contained at the time. This particular hive was a labyrinth and easy to get lost in, even for employees. It's a particularly extensive structure with a few ways out: the main elevator, the train leading up to the surface, and landing areas with helicarriers perched within. Reaching any of these areas will prove to be a difficult and grueling task, involving traversing areas guarded by Umbrella Security Service soldiers, laboratories housing undead and experimental monsters, and test environments emulating seemingly abandoned warehouses and small sections of cities. While nowhere near as grandiose as Umbrella Prime's test environments, they remain a formidable obstacle, having been built to test the combat properties of experiments as opposed to outbreaks. And if it came to it, Wesker would pursue these survivors himself-- but, arrogantly perhaps, he didn't see that becoming an issue.
  426.
  427. How will test subjects react to these challenges? Well, that's something Wesker is interested in finding out, assuming they make it that far.
  428.
  429. "Chairman Wesker, we have escaped survivors," one of the security operatives reported, professional but rushed. "Should we execute them, sir?"
  430.
  431. "No. Pursue them and capture them. Only kill them if you have no other option."
  432.
  433. "Understood."
  434.
  435. Where Wesker watched from his high-backed chair, surrounded by screens depicting surveillance footage, he could see a small squad of U.S.S. soldiers moving in towards the holding area, a long hallway lined with cells that eventually curved into a circular shape and branched off towards the heart of the hive, in the attempt to cut off Ana and her cellmate.

  449. {Ana was feeling small, small and fucked in ways that she could never recover from...not if she was going to be taken again and put back into that room. She turned to look at Jake, and gave him a look that said, 'what do we do?' He moved to put the pole down and took a step forward with both hands up. Ana looked at the guy like he was nuts, and that she didn't want to die.
  450.
  451. Something in the way he looked at her made her think he was trying to tell her to trust him with his eyes.
  452.
  453. So, soon Ana lifted her hands to show that she was going to give up too. As soon as Jake got close enough to one of the guards? He went into action, which surprised Ana. She curled up by one of the last of the guards, they were on the fringe of the hall closest to the curve. Ana put her hands over her head and tried to look small as Jake started to fight with a few of the guards. He knew they had on armor, so where his punches were placed where up close, and around the face and throat of three of the guards. A couple of others dropped their guns, one grabbed a taser to take him down. And that is when Ana heard it, Jake yelling at her.}
  454.
  455. ANA! Run, run now! {He screamed as he punched one guy in the face, his nose breaking up into his brain as blood spurted from his face. The guy crumpled and another two guys went to hit Jake. He was taking punches to the stomach, legs, sternum and back. They both were beating him in tandem. Jake actually managed to move in and bit the guard on the left right on the face, ripping his nose off. He spit the skin into the other guards face as he managed to chop him in the Adam's Apple, crushing his throat and Jake took his gun. That was when Jake pulled the trigger, but no bullets came out. So, he started to use it to bash in faces, or to slam the guards in the side of the head. One of the guards came toward Ana, grabbing her around the middle and lifting her off the ground. Ana, instinctively, began to writhe and shake in his grasp. She put her hand into the pocket with the needles in it, and popped the lid off of it. Pulling back the plunger in her pocket, she filled the thing up with air, and then she lifted it out of there and injected the needle right in-between the fingers of the man that had her, puncturing through their gloves and sliding between his fingers. Then she pushed in the plunger. The air-bubble took effect rather quickly, and he dropped her to the floor in an bundle. Ana hissed as her bare feet hit the ground, and she stood awkwardly, backing up toward the bend. She even made sure to grab the guards gear from him before she left. A gun, a knife, and a taser. Jake watched as she did that, and made sure that she got around the corner and out of their sight. Then he stopped fighting and Ana could hear the guards pummeling the man that saved her life to death as she started running down that side hall--tears threatening to spill down her cheeks.
  456.
  457. She had no idea how she would ever thank him, but she knew that she needed to survive so that he didn't give his life for her in vein.}
  458.
  459. {OOC I hope this is okay, or even good? I wrote and rewrote it a billion times until I could settle on something! I hope it works? IF I need to change or fix anything? Please let me know?}
  460. The reply was:
  461. [Survivors, indeed. They had enough wits and raw, fighting determination to best the squad of U.S.S. soldiers. Morris even gave up his life to make sure that Clark got away. Pathetic. He wasn't worth the effort to keep alive as a test subject. Only time and the areas Ana Clark headed towards would tell if her tenacity would serve her well. That particular hallway lead towards the core of that level of the hive. There were stairs and elevators that would take her up to where the various exits were, but to get to them, she would find herself crossing a test scenario.
  462.
  463. At the end of her hallway, a door with the Umbrella symbol on it. Going through would take her to a cruel illusion, a taunting taste of freedom. It appeared to be a quaint little city at nightfall. There were no people outside, which may not have been unusual given the time of day in this scenario, but depending on how in tune Ana's intuition was, she may sense something off about the whole thing. For all intentions and purposes, it does appear as if she's outdoors.
  464.
  465. Whether or not she believed the illusion, a computerized-sounding voice would echo through the shell of a city. "Initiating... test sequence UB-009." And before long, the familiar sound of mindless groaning and asymmetrical shambling would be moving in on Ana's position. The ordinary undead humans were but a precursor of things yet to come, but Wesker didn't want to waste any bioweapons on her if the dull, aimless drones that were the undead did away with her just as well.]

  473. {Ana looked at the door with dread, turning back to the hallway with a once over. She knew going back would lead to more of those soldiers. So, with tears in her eyes, Ana slowly went through that door only to find dark skies, and a city? She studies the sky then, looking for the North Star. She always looks for the North Star when she is out at night. But...where the fuck was it? Were was any stars? Ana turned her attention to look up and around the area--moving quickly inside. Ana didn't have bullets in her gun, but she had a gun at least.
  474.
  475. Maybe if she could find a cop car? She might be able to get some bullets? An actual weapon. With her bare feet she started to move inside and a voice broke her out of her reverie. The 'fuck'? Why was there a computerized voice out here? Where was she? Turning slowly then, she saw it...well heard it and saw it!}
  476.
  477. Fuck! FUCK!Fuck... {She said out loud, but to herself. That was when she moved into action. She was small, so she moved toward the cars on the side of wherever she happened to be? She kept low for now, spotting a cop car a little bit ahead. Ana quickly moved toward it. Pulling on the doors to see if it was locked? The back door didn't open. So she moved to the front door--sending up a prayer to God and whomever else was listening?! The door pulled open then, a small computer was sitting by the driver's side. There was information on the screen, but Ana didn't look at it. She slid into the car, trying to stay low. She moved the computer out of the way and opened the glove box. Looking inside, she hoped that they didn't take it! She sighed when she found a clip, and a gun. Laying on the floor of the passenger side was a jacket with the words 'Raccoon City' P.D. on it. It was dark in color sans the white lettering, Ana slipped it on over her white doctor's clothing so she could blend in better. With the gun and clip in hand, Ana checked the gun to see that the safety was on, but there was a bullet in the chamber. She didn't throw the other gun away though, it would be a good weapon to bash someone or something in the head with--and with an excited smile she found on the floor between the two seats? One of those batons that cops used for subduing someone unruly. She closed her eyes, swallowed thickly and slipped back out. If she stayed too long, anyone could come at her.
  478.
  479. On the ground, Ana surveyed the area. It was a city street. Not a lot of places to hide though. She could try to keep the the cars, and buses until she saw a block ahead of her. She could hide somewhere over that way. Here though, she was more exposed than she would like to be. Laying on the ground then, she looked under the cars to see what might be moving on the other side. She saw legs moving a bit awkwardly. Stenches! "Where the fuck was she?!"
  480.
  481. It was time to move into action. Gun ready, other gun slung over her shoulder, and baton in the other hand. Ana had buttoned up the jacket and put the extra clip in the pocket for when she needed it. She tied her hair up into a quick bun and then she slipped out into view. Moving up behind one of those things as it went by her. Ana lifted her gun and shot it in the back of the head, by the base of the skull. As it went down, she got a look around at her surroundings and cursed to herself. She began to back up, then turned and started to run toward the buses she saw parked across the way.}

  487. [No doubt, Clark showed some ingenuity in her survival tactics. Wesker could see that luck hadn't been the only thing on her side and her reason for making it through the apocalypse long enough to end up here. But he wasn't sold. The undead were mutated, as with any other creature that found itself infected by the t-virus, and there were escaped experiments on top of that. Had she dealt with such things before? And more importantly, could she survive against them on her own? That's what Wesker was interested in finding out. She was adequately armed, had something of a plan of action in mind...
  488.
  489. Zombies were but a thing that separated the wheat from the chaff. Those too weak to survive against them were not worth his time, but Clark showed some potential.
  490.
  491. This time, there was no computerized voice echoing across the test environment, no warning of the terror awaiting Ana. With a few keystrokes, Wesker unleashed one Hunter upon his test subject. It was quick, predatory, and extremely aggressive. It would pursue her relentlessly until she either killed it or outsmarted it. Neither were overly difficult with enough firepower or a distinct quality of quickness on one's feet, but did she have either? Only time would tell.
  492.
  493. That Hunter was bounding through the street, and with a deafening screech, leaped up onto one of the buses Ana headed towards with a heavy, resounding THUD! There were alleys to flee through, buildings to try and find shelter in or shortcuts through, and a multitude of other possibilities. For observational purposes, Wesker truly hoped Clark would not disappoint him.]

  500. {Ana had been feeling the effects from her time after everything that happened at the mall. Michigan, which had been her home had been taken over by the recently dead--in a way that she could never explain.
  501.
  502. During that time she had lost all of her friends to either bites, or other horrific situations. Louis, her husband, had been killed by their next door neighbor's kid--Vivian, who ripped out his neck with her teeth. Micheal, the man she met the day her life had gone too hell? He had been lost due to her, it was inadvertently because of the actions she took, but it still killed her inside. He had gotten bitten by one of those things when he was helping CJ to tug her back into the truck after she took off to Steve to grab his boat keys. The whole reason they all had been in those damn renovated buses in the first place. They had heard that there was no infection up north. So, they were going to take Steve's boat to the islands in the lakes around the Illinois area. In hopes to get out of that nightmarish situation. What they did get was all of them dying, sans Ana, Kenneth the cop, and the love-sick teens Ana took to caring about, as well as Nicole's new dog. A zombie rescue. The teens, and Kenneth didn't make it, the dog took off into the throngs of the undead to never been seen again either. Though, it was probably still alive since those things didn't seem interested in animals to begin with--just people.
  503.
  504. All that death, all those people who had been her friends that she had to shoot in the face because they were trying to eat her or those others that died horrific deaths due to those dead things, but you couldn't count out the living in that department. A few of them died due to the actions of the living, so that shit was still happening too. Things that stood out to Ana about what she had to do was that newborn baby who had been born dead because its mother had been scratched by one of those things? A sight she never wanted to remember, especially since it was her gun that took its life in the end. Then there was Steve, a major dick to be sure, but a major dick that Ana never wanted to shoot--okay, maybe just a tiny bit!
  505.
  506. After she had made it to that island, and wound up being the last one alive? She had found a car with a key inside and then had driven for a couple of months,(because droves of the living dead were kind of making short trips really long ones) to try to outrun that whole fucked situation. Never believing that she actually could, well that was until she actually did. She wound up, finally, in the middle of a bustling metropolis with real live people and not the walking dead. That was after being shot in unfriendly fire, having to go on living after being the only person left out of that rag-tag group of people she came to know as her new family had all died either by the gun or by the bite. Now that she was here in a place that had nothing but life? Ana couldn't handle it and she snapped--hard.
  507.
  508. It had been a few days of drinking, drugs, and no sleep that set her over the edge. She had tried to kill someone, and herself. The cops had been called and she actually had holed herself up in that shitty motel room and held those cops off with her gun. Then she remembers things going black, and when she woke up? She had been put into an asylum. Shit must have gotten freakier still with her for them to put her in there and not in actual jail? Maybe this place would do her some good? Maybe she might wake up to find out that what she had gone through was just a nervous breakdown, and nothing real? Yeah, fat fucking chance that that happened? She still doesn't even remember when she cut her wrists, but she did and the pain and the gauze wrappings were the two things that kept reminding her of it!}
  509. The reply was:
  510. [It certainly was no accident that Ana came under Dr. Albert Wesker's "care". He made sure it happened. After all, her file conveyed rather interesting details and he argued that he was the one best equipped to help her deal with them. The other doctors bought into that quickly enough, and before long, Ana would be on her way to her first appointment with him.
  511.
  512. He sat in a comfortable high-backed chair with a wardrobe that was entirely black: suit, tie, undershirt, all of it. As it always was, his blond hair was slicked back, but he wore no sunglasses. It made no real difference; his eyes were distant and emotionless, offering no more insight into him than if he wore sunglasses. More curious yet, his eyes were blue. Normal. Any indications of being anything more or less than human were gone.
  513.
  514. Waiting patiently, Wesker focused on his notes pinned to a clipboard, but in his peripheral vision, he watched the door for Ana's arrival.]
  515.
  516. (ooc; I know we have another thread going on, but I couldn't help myself; hope you don't mind! I figured either Ana can recognize him from the realm of zombies and monsters and mindfuckery can ensue, or he can just be her asshole doctor that likes to push her buttons. Your choice!)

  523. {Ana had been fighting with the one orderly when he had decided that he would have rather grabbed at her arm instead of asking her to come with him? Trying to shuffle her along with him toward the doctor's office. She didn't like being manhandled at all, and with one swift move she punched the prick in the throat as hard as she could. He dropped her arm from his grasp, stepped back and began choking. Other orderlies shuffled into her area, but she didn't move, didn't try to fight any of the others off. She just didn't want to be manhandled, especially with all the bruises she was feeling from being manhandled by throngs of monsters that had only one moral imperative. To eat the living.
  524.
  525. So, the next orderly had found her to be of little consequence, and soon he had opened the door to Wesker's room for her. Ana kept her focus distant, and cold even on the meds that they gave her--it could even be said she kept her focus piercing even with all the shit they had her on. Taking in everything about the place, the people, and now this room with this pompous looking dick-bag that was sitting behind some giant desk, who was obviously reading something as she entered. And with Ana's time being a nurse, she kind of figured she knew exactly what he was reading when she entered? Her file.
  526.
  527. She moved more into the office, but didn't bother to sit down. Something seemed off about all this, what that was? Ana couldn't put her finger on. Just possibly familiar, maybe from a dream or a nightmare? It had to be.}
  528.
  529. So? Do you plan to shrink me? Is that why I am here? Or are you going to pull the 'I really want to help you, Ana, but first you need to help yourself, card?{She said with a derisive snort, rolling her eyes at him.}
  530.
  531. Will you play the man who believes in me, and wants me to feel comfortable, easy with you so I can speak up about what I supposedly went through? Or will you challenge me at every turn? Making me see the error of my ways? {She was ticking off all the possible 'ways' he could come at her. Having seen it happen with other patients when she worked at a hospital.}
  532.
  533. Will you try to make me see that what I went through was just a break in my psyche, and could never possibly have happened? Maybe flip a coin?
  534.
  535. {She moved toward the seat. Then stopped, and kicked it out of the way. Moving slowly toward the window on the other side, she leaned against it to look back outside.}
  536.
  537. {OOC not sure how to play it. Maybe she had a dream about him fucking with her? Being at the facility? And that dream felt real to her, but it was in response to what happened and now she feels like he is only there to just fuck with her at every turn?}
  538.
  539. The reply was:
  540. [They had (unnecessarily) warned him that Ana was a feisty one. If that wasn't apparent before, it certainly was now. She used to be a nurse, she's been around hospitals, she knew the run-around many doctors gave, and she was proving it now. He lifted his chin, eyes raising from the file to look at Ana straight-on. He listened, let her rant, throw back everything she could think at him, watched her kick the patient chair and find her own seat.
  541.
  542. In the end, it beckoned little but a smirk out of him, but even that was fleeting, almost impossible to see. He rose out of his chair, placing the file on the desk, but not yet moving around it to approach her.]
  543.
  544. You won't even allow me an introduction? [His voice drawled in a low, smooth cadence.] I had intended not to make any assumptions, but I can see you don't quite feel the same.
  545.
  546. [Wesker turned, eyeing the orderly, and directed a dismissive gesture at him. He looked hesitant, but the hard look in Wesker's face was enough to get him to leave. After that, his attention returned fully to Ana.]
  547.
  548. Many of the so-called doctors working in mental institutions are superficial. They're only in it for the money or some other shallow endeavor. They badger you with a laundry list of questions that some pretentious textbook on psychoanalyzing gave them. They rarely have a clue about the things that really go on out there. Some are a little more clever about it, but that tends to be an even larger charade.
  549.
  550. I can assure you I am not that kind of doctor, for what little it will persuade you. You are quite capable of deciding for yourself.
  551.
  552. Let me make one thing perfectly clear, however. I'm not here to "fix" you.
  553.
  554. (ooc; It's up to you! I was trying to keep it ambiguous/vague so you could decide if what she experienced was real or if she knew him at all, or if she never met him and he's just a doctor or whatever. Your idea is awesome if that's what you want to go with.)

  592. {Ana sat down in one of the chairs, her legs hanging over one side with her back against the arm on the other side.}
  593.
  594. I'm not one to stop someone from getting their 'jollies.' But what I plan to continue being is at my own discretion. Do or say what you want, and I will do or say what I please, and maybe we shall meet in the middle? {She spit out in a venomous sounding murmur.}
  595. The reply was:
  596. [The venomous remarks were ignored with particular indifference. Wesker was quite sure he could either shut her up or get her riled enough to produce the kind of reaction that was worth studying. He leaned against the corner of his desk, enough to sit on the edge comfortably, his hands folded professionally on one leg. It was an unassuming posture: comfortable and laid back. Whether it be to mirror Ana or to encourage an easy-going environment, who knew.]
  597.
  598. I know you've been having dreams, Ana. Incredibly vivid ones, at that. Enough to provoke violent reactions. [A pause.] While such reactions are not a rarity from you, it's unusual for it to be a result of such persistently reoccurring dreams.
  599.
  600. [He tilts his head, his face carefully emotionless except for a small glimmer of hidden knowledge in all-too-normal eyes.]

  608. Hi [personal profile] igothim,
  609.
  610. [personal profile] virological sent you a message on Dreamwidth.
  611.
  612. The message is: Re: Hi
  613. Hey, no sweat. RP is supposed to be fun, and if you're not feeling it, it's perfectly okay, it happens. You can always give it a shot some other time if you are feeling it.
  614.
  615. I am the most laid back person ever when it comes to late tags, because I am glacially slow myself sometimes. As long as the interest is there, I'll usually tag back. RL is more important, especially if there are stressful things going on, so I can assure you I'm not annoyed or unwilling to continue writing with you. I'd rather you take care of yourself, first.
