  1. An internaut made fun of the media LeMonde by publishing the Anti-Decodex
  2.
  3. OpenMind just appeared in GoogleChrome Webstore.
  4. Using the same principle of the controversial Decodex, it gives you
  5. opposite advice of those given by LeMonde to inform yourself on internet.
  6.
  7. "Considering the necessity of fighting against Hoax is real, we can understand
  8. the will to act of some of us. However, in the approach of LeMonde, what we see
  9. is not a fight against the hoax and the fake news, but arbitraty judgements,
  10. sometimes complacent, sometimes harsh, of a Decodex team in a position of
  11. both judge and judged. Losing their original purpose, they took advantage of their
  12. position to condemn what they don't like instead of condemn what is false."
  13. It's easy to guess that Lejendarm (pseudonym) did not appreciate the last
  14. tool of LeMonde and decided to create his own extension for Google's browser.
  15.
  16. The Decodex of LeMonde offers a notation of hundreds websites with different
  17. colors according to their credibility.. from the point of view of the
  18. daily newspaper of course. Critized from all side, it has today its parodic
  19. competitor: OpenMind.
  20.
  21.
  22. The realization of Lejendarm proposes thus its own classification in reverse
  23. of the one from the Decodex, but keeping the same color code.
  24. - The green, meaning "trustable" for LeMonde, become "website probably not occidental
  25. or that defends unusual analyzes".
  26. - The blue, "parody" for LeMonde, is used now for "alternative, not mainstream"
  27. - The grey, the label of collaborative information, become "Incredbly more
  28. professionnal than usual private media".
  29. - The orange, used to define "untrustable" website for LeMonde, is used in OpenMind
  30. for "parody and useless", with a little more description from Lejendarm "Anyway
  31. there is a need of some stupidity to have the necessity of tool to understand that
  32. it's a parody website".
  33. - The red, finally, the color of conspiracy and ignominy for the newspaper, become
  34. for the creator of OpenMind "One vision of the world to rule them all".
  35. The reference is obvious.
  36.
  37. Relative success of the Decodex.
  38.
  39. The reason of the decision from Lejendarm, a severe analysis of the realization
  40. of LeMonde : "What I see is a danger, I will not doubt of the original will
  41. of the Decodex team, but the result is highly objectionable. To propose such an
  42. intrusive tool, under the control of a small group that has no justification to
  43. give to anyone and who has the will to tell you what is true and what is not,
  44. proposing a tool of this kind, imagining that it pleases and that it is popularized,
  45. is like playing with fire. "
  46.
  47. When one tests the version of Lejendarm, one realizes that like LeMonde, he added
  48. his own description on the websites he was interested on.
  49. The website of "Valeurs Actuelles" as an exemple, was cataloged in orange by
  50. LeMonde because "regularly inaccurate".
  51. On the OpenMind side, it becomes blue and it's a "site badly perceived by the newspaper LeMonde, which
  52. means that it's probably interesting".
  53. Same for RT France, in orange because of it's "russian point of view despite
  54. it's ability to carry out quality surveys" become "probably interesting" with
  55. OpenMind.
  56.
  57. Unsurprisingly, the website of LeMonde was awarded with the red color :
  58. "This site received the blessing of LeMonde. Be careful, take a small dose".
  59.
  60. If actually the tool, whose last update was in 15 february, has been downloaded
  61. only a few dozen times, it already has some fans.
  62. Olivier Berruyer, member of the Econoclasts and author of the blog Les Crises,
  63. invited Internet users to mass-download this sort of "Deconex" [sic].
  64. "So do not hesitate to support our struggle by installing it, [...] once
  65. (even if you delete it right away, after smiling - as so many people did with the Decodex)
  66. and Putting 5 stars, it may be funny if it buzz a little ... ", wrote Olivier Berruyer on his blog.
  67.
  68. As a reminder, the Olivier's blog has been cataloged as a site broadcasting "conspiracy theories" by LeMonde's Decodex.
  69. Since then, the blogger has received the support of personalities
  70. as diverse as Emmanuel Todd, Aude Lancelin, Jacques Sapir, Régis de Castelnau, Paul Moreira,
  71. Jean Bricmont or Etienne Chouard.
  72.
  73. Since its launch, the success of the Decodex is very controversed. On February 20,
  74. its extension for Google Chrome had been downloaded about 21,000 times.
  75. A low score for a media that has six million subscribers on Twitter as said Samuel Laurent, one of the fathers of the Decodex.
