  62. 11. Explain the importance of weapon safety and what precautions can be taken to prevent an accidental discharge. (4 points total)
  63. - Never unholster your gun unless it is totally needed to and when walking with your gun if it is unholstered ALWAYS have it pointing down towards the ground for safety matters. Never keep your finger in-front of the trigger when just walking around with it, also always make sure the safety lock is on when you're not shooting the firearm. When reloading your firearm it is vital that you aim it down towards the ground, stopping you from injuring yourself or anyone around if you misfire.

  65. 12. Upon arriving to the scene of a crime in Fort Carson that requires the presence of a detective, what are the steps you should follow? (6 points total)
  66. - You check the surroundings of the area, making sure that no-one is in the perimeter of the area, checking the scene is safe. If someone is in the area, you have to detain them unless you're sure they aren't a suspect. Contact the Investigations Unit via the main radio. Get some police tape or barriers and place it around the edges of the area. If the area is a large space, request however many deputies you need to stand all around the area, to prevent people obstructing the scene. If you happen to move anything because it is in the way, always take a photo and tell the detective when they arrive so that the piece of evidence doesn't have your fingerprints on it. In some scenes you may have to block off the road, or put some signs out diverting the traffic around the scene. If no Detectives are available you have to request an investigation through email.

  68. 13. Why are Deputies encourages to partner up while heading out on patrol? (2 points total)
  69. - Deputies, especially new ones are always encouraged to partner up because anything could happen and you could always do with a partner watching your back. 76.
  77. 16. When do you use a vehicles P.A system? What is an example of bad P.A system usage? (2 points total)
  78. - You should only use the P.A system when required, you should try to minimize using it. An example of the correct way of using the P.A system would be if you have followed someone with lights and sirens, clearly meaning to pull them over and they do not respond to the lights and sirens. If they do pull over, but not in a good position (obstructing road users etc) you can use the P.A system to tell them to move on and pull over in a better position. Lastly, if they don't cut there engine. A bad use of a P.A system would be if you straight away use it to pull the suspect over or if you instruct them to pull over, cut there engine and prepare the documents if not needed.

You then ask the people around if they saw anything, question them a little.
