- Covet: Felix pulled his jeep into the parkinglot of the shelter and looked over at Steph, "No new pets" He said reaffirming their earlier agreement from yesterday.
- Alexithymiaa: (Theyre wearing the saame thing.)
- Alexithymiaa: -Steph sat in the passenger seat, her head a giant balloon at this point as the sickness had just taken over completely. She nodded her head slowly, sliding out of the Jeep to the ground in her platform sneakers because gotta be tall. She started to cough into the sleeve of her hoodie, thoroughly covering her mouth.-
- Covet: [lol]
- Covet: Felix stopped her at the front door looking at her. "Are you sure we should be doing this tonight? I have half a mind to turn you around and head over to the Pharmacy to go get you some cold medicine." He told her lookign down at her.
- Alexithymiaa: -Finishing up her disgusting coughing fit, she shook her head, her voice coming out in a nasally and raspy tone. "I don't want cold medicine. I just want to go in and help out. It's not like the common cold is zoonotic or something, the animals will be fine." Missing his point completely, she reached for his hand and turned to the shelter again, venturing up to the front door.-
- Covet: "No, it's not but I'm not worried about the animals I'm worried about you." He told her pulling her hand back. "Seriously, I don't care if you don't want it. We're going to be getting some, because I promise you'll be thankful for it. You should be resting right now. It's not like the animals won't be here another time for you to volunteer." Felix tried bargaining with her.
- Alexithymiaa: -She stopped when he tugged on her hand, turning to face him again and forcing the words out of her mouth. "Well I don't care if you don't care. I don't like cold medicine and I don't have to take it if I don't want to. It's not like a cold is life threatening. I'll be miserable for a couple of days and it'll go away on its own. I literally don't haave time to do this any other time. Next week is Thanksgiving, and then your birthday week and then the album release and then comes all the holiday shit."-
- Covet: Felix set his mouth as she said she didn't care. "Fine then can I take you home and put you in a warm bath with some tea and give you at least some tylenol?" He crossed his arms, "We can go during my birthday week, I'm fine with that." He said kind of pleading. "Not to mention you're spreading this... and I'm going to get it already... so why not limit your exposure?"
- Alexithymiaa: "I am not fine with going during your birthday week. Your birthday week is for birthday things, not volunteering and cleaning up after animals that aren't ours." She paused to cover her mouth with her sleeve, coughing a few times. "I've washed my hands like fifteen times today and I'm being careful about the spreading of my germs."-
- Covet: "You could wash your hands a billion times, but the less contact you have with people the better off it's going to be." Felix said then grumbled because he knew it was futile, because she was determined.
- Alexithymiaa: "Good thing we're helping animals then, isn't it?" She asked, spinning on her toes and beginning the walk into the shelter like she'd intended. Smiling and waving at the receptionist, she continued on toward the back. "Hi Joyce."-
- CovetCovet : Felix followed behind her grumbling, giving a wayve to the lady named Joyce. He went along with Steph until they got to what she wanted to start with.
- Alexithymiaa: -Taking the stairs up to the second floor, she turned into the free roaming room with the older, more gentle dogs who were mostly all just chilling out. Reaching for the broom in the corner, she started to sweep the giant clumps of hair that were everywhere, beginning to make a pile. "Why don't you give the older dogs some love?"-
- Covet: "I'm already on it, you don't have to tell me to do anything I don't already know." Felix said as he went into the kennel and knelt down to give the dogs some love, before just sitting right down on the floor with them.
- Alexithymiaa: -She smiled as she watched him go in with the older dogs because its so much more heartwarming than seeing someone play with puppies. Pulling her phone out of her pocket, she snapped a picture and then returned to her sweeping. "It's sad. Some of these dogs have been here since I started volunteering years ago."-
- Covet: "That is really sad... and don't tell me things like that or, our house is going to become a sanctuary for old dogs." He said to her as he gave all the ears scratches.
- Alexithymiaa: "I know, it's a struggle everytime I come up here, that's why I thought bringing you would stop me from fostering thirty dogs, but I guess you're no help. I should have known." She set the broom aside and walked into the kennel with him, kneeling down amongst the dogs to help with scratching. "Can we do more?"-
- Covet: "You really should have. I mean, it's dogs... and me.." He said then looked at her, "No we can't, but it's not like they're terrible off here. They get lots of people who come to visit them. And they have a warm safe place to sleep, and food, and toys and friends."
- Alexithymiaa: "Yeah, but no one ever comes up here to play with them. Everyone that comes in, goes right to the puppy room." She frowned, pulling a fluffy dog into her lap. "Do we know anyone who wants a dog?" She asked, snapping a picture of herself with the dog in her lap and beginning to type.-
- Covet: "I'm more than sure that there are other volunteers that come here just like you do." Felix said. "Portland is a pretty big place, so you can't tell me that you're the only volunteer that comes in." He added, then shook his head, "Not that I can think of."
- Alexithymiaa: "Not the only volunteer, but people that come here to adopt dogs, are looking for puppies. For every ten puppies adopted, one dog over six is adopted. It's not fair." She hit post on her status update and shoved her phone into her pocket, turning into her sleeve to cough again. "I just want people to see how great these animals are."-
- Covet: "I get that, and it does suck, but just because it's not fair, doesn't mean that it's on just us to take them all in. They are better off here, then they'd be at our place. This isn't doggy prison, it's a shelter. Which means, that they are taken care of here." Felix told her.
- AlexithymiaaAlexithymiaa : "I don't mean we should take them all in. I just want to do more to help them find their furever homes. Have AGD do something or... I don't know. I'm just glad this shelter is at least no-kill because these poor guys would have been gone a long time ago." She leaned down to press her face into the dog, nuzzling him.-
- Covet: "Yeah, Kill shelters really aren't fair." Felix said with a frown, patting the dog that had fallen asleep on his lap. "You guys already do quite a bit though don't you?"
- Alexithymiaa: "I mean I get it, they don't have the money or the resources to take care of all the animals they get, but it's bullshit it should come to that. We should do that with people overpopulating cities." She narrowed her eyes because fuck people. "We donate money pretty often, but that doesn't raise awareness. That doesnt get the animals adopted. I don't think anyone else volunteers. Not regularly, anyway."-
- Covet: "People kind of do that themselves though. I mean.. any major bridge or overpass area and you're bound to find a handful of addicts that are more or less on death's doorstep." Felix said a little morbidly. "Yeah, but I'm sure the money is greatly appreciated too. Don't act like just because it's not everything you could be doing, but it's still more than what most do."
- Alexithymiaa: "I don't care about what other people could be doing. I just want to save the animals." She said with a deep frown, leaning over to encompass all the dogs in their area in a big hug. "What if we fostered one until it got adopted?"- (SAY NO SAY NO SAY NO PLEASE SAY NO)
- Covet: "I'm going to be quoting you. We're going to be waaay to busy over the next few weeks to give a foster pet the proper attention it needs." Felix said giving her a pat on the shoulder.
- Alexithymiaa: -Giving a pout, she scratched her fingers over one of the scruffy heads, letting out a sigh followed by a series of coughs. "I know... I just want to do more. I want to see them all find families to love them. It makes me so upset..." She rubbed her sleeve over her face to stop herself from getting any more emotional than she already was. "We should probably go before I chain myself to this kennel."-
- Covet: "Okay...Yeah.. there's a lot of emotion there... Like It's sad sure.. but like... I think it's time to get you home and get you to bed." Felix said getting up and went to help her to her feet.
- Alexithymiaa: "It IS sad." She said, putting her hands out for his so he could help her up. She looked down at the dogs around them, speaking softly in her nothingness voice. "Bye... we'll be back soon, I promise." She started out of the kennel, making her way through the shleter so they could go home and she can be sad about doggies there.-
