  1. [23:37] "Of course you may observe, Claude. That is why I put forward the offer- so that those who wished to observe, might observe."
  2.
  3. A glance is given to Elizabeth. "Please fetch me a basin of warm water from the kitchens. From the kitchens, go up those stairs and straight. That is where we will be."
  4.
  5. Then to Zachary, the doctor leaning in close to examine the spread ichor through his veins. "This is fixable, yes. Painful, also yes. But fixable. Follow me, please."
  6.
  7. The doctor then spins to her right, and heads off deeper into the cathedral.
  8. (Blaire Laeknir)
  9. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  10.
  11. [23:38] Flint Westman says, "Good luck on the treatment, Citizens! I must continue my patrol."
  12. [23:38] Elizabeth Wayne says, "Yes Rector. I'll meet you."
  13. [23:38] Fol scratching his chin, wondering who else is here.
  14. (Fol Imon)
  15. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  16.
  17. [23:39] Claude chuckled, he'd have to bring his habit of speaking redundantly under control. Yet, he followed deeper into the cathedral. Hands remained evenly clasped behind his back.
  18. (Claude vey Pelleaux)
  19. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  20.
  21. [23:41] Zachary nodded before giving the reply regarding the painful procedures he might have to experience later on.
  22.
  23. "If it's ta' pain ta' fix it, it ain't tha' bad pain."
  24.
  25. After giving his comment, he'd proceed on following the doctor to wherever it is he was going to be taken into.
  26. (Zachary Drake)
  27. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  28.
  29. [23:41] Fol Imon says, "So..."
  30. [23:51] The doctor leads them- including Sain, who had at one point shown up- up the stairs, to one of the dormitory rooms. She gestures towards a bed, with the implication that is where Zachary should lie, as she prepares her tools.
  31.
  32. Within a few moments, a bevy of tools have been pulled from the many, many pockets of her coat. Alcohol, bandaging- scalpels, needles and sutures. Tweezers- everything one might need for the impending operation.
  33.
  34. Though she is beginning without Elizabeth present, she is certain the acolyte would not be far behind. It would, after all, take a few minutes to gather the water.
  35.
  36. "Alright. Poison is annoying, and easier to handle if you are a user of water magic- however, none of us in this room are, so this is to be done the difficult way."
  37.
  38. She takes up a scalpel, and gestures over her arm. "The method is by creating an incision at the effected site, then using hot water to help draw the poison out. This does cause bleeding, and depending on the amount of poison, a large amount of blood may need to be removed before enough poison has been removed."
  39.
  40. The scalpel is placed back on the table, and she gazes around the room. "While we are waiting for Elizabeth, do any of you have questions? Especially you-" She points at Zachary. "-it is very important you are comfortable with what is going to happen before I perform the operation."
  41. (Blaire Laeknir)
  42. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  43.
  44. [23:55] While his intention wasn't entirely to observe a medical procedure, rather, to speak with a certain purple-headed nobleman. No matter, it would serve to be invaluable experience all the same.
  45.
  46. Approaching the group to get a better look, Sain's golden hues observed the young male, quickly noting his injury. A poison inflicted wound, it would seem.
  47.
  48. "I have no questions at the moment."
  49.
  50. Blaire's explanation seemed to be satisfactory, though Sain couldn't help but wonder how Zachary had attained the wound in the first place. Be it through monster or suspicious figure, it must have been a frightening experience.
  51. (Sain)
  52. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  53.
  54. [23:57] As her instructions were given Elizabeth went about them with haste! Quickly did she follow behind the others only to make her way into the kitchen.
  55.
  56. A warm basin of water was requested and thusly it would be granted! After such was obtained the Acolyte would quickly make her way up the steps and into the room spoken of before.
  57.
  58. Entering the room she was just in time to hear the last bit between Zach and Blaire. However, she did not take the time to respond to it. Instead the girl approached the bed. Going on to hold the basin within her palms.
  59.
  60. "The water as requested Rector."
  61.
  62. She said in short. If one cared to take note they might be able to see the smallest bit of flames peaking out from under her palms.
  63. (Elizabeth Wayne)
  64. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  65.
  66. [00:00] After being led into the other room deeper inside the building, Zachary observed its' architectures while he was taken along through the paths to get in here.
  67.
  68. "This place's quite nice."
  69.
  70. He murmured under his breathe before stopping his comment regarding the building, staring across the room where there was a bed that might be used for the operation - Giving Blaire a nod at the request.
  71.
  72. "Am' always fine wit' tha' medical procedures, as long as it makes ma' feel better in tha' future.
  73.
  74. I mite' as well try ta' study tha' way of medic as well while ya' work on fixin' ma'."
  75.
  76. Proceeding towards the bed after his statement without having to be told to, he'd sit on the side of it - With his injuries already revealed for them to work on, regardless the pain to come.
  77.
  78. "Blood an' stuff can be regained as long as ya' live, ya' can start workin' on tha' technique ya' told ma'."
  79.
  80. He adds.
  81. (Zachary Drake)
  82. [00:04] So it was that they'd be lead into the back of the cathedral. He'd figured of course that there would be placed within the holy place to heal the sick and wounded. After-all he'd not just donated to the institution to put gold upon the door-knobs. His gaze shifted about the room, taking in the simple things of the area.
  83.
  84. It was about as he'd expected it to be from his readings. No doubt a lot of what he'd see today would feel like a transition of text to life. Yet, the written word can only give so much when one sought to learn not only to know but to do. That is why as he watched the rector retrieve various instruments and tools from her pouch he'd remain silent.
  85.
  86. Opting to listen to the instruction being explained more than speak. Though he'd not retrieved the journal that rested in his pocket it was clear from the intense gaze of the man that he was committing the events to memory. Even as he listened he'd started to allow the coming operation to roll around in his head for a time. Finally after the others had spoken the noble raised his palm, evenly speaking as he did so A simple gesture in a learning situation, drilled into him from years of education.
  87.
  88. "If the poision is within the patients bloodstream. How is it that the hot water will draw it out?"
  89.
  90. He was clearly wondering how exactly the poison functioned considering he'd assumed it to be spread throughout the body at this point. Of course it could be guessed he knew nothing of Crellus nor their poisonous ability and how it related to the human anatomy.
  91. (Claude vey Pelleaux)
  92. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  93.
  94. [00:16] Adrielle entered the room, unsure of what exactly was taking place. None-the-less he'd continue to make his way over towards Lord Claude. The knight offered a subtle nod to each figure in the room accompanied by a faint smile.
  95. (Adrielle Solenne)
  96. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  97.
  98. [00:17] Having followed his brother up the stairs, Vaeltus too entered the room shortly behind him only to come face to face with a small group. An apologetic expression crosses his face as he follows his brother across the room to stand near him, still unsure what they were doing here.
  99. (Vaeltus Solenne)
  100. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  101.
  102. [00:19] The only one with a question is Claude, so she regards him first- though a smile and nod is given to Elizabeth as the water is delivered.
  103.
  104. "The simple answer? It won't. It takes time for poison to spread through the bloodstream, however, and if you look at the patient's arm-" She gestures at Zach's arm. "-you can see that it is, visibly, still concentrated within the veins in that area. Additionally, it's to help draw it out- cold water would make the muscles in his arms contract, limiting the flow of blood, while hot water will make them extend.
  105.
  106. Though I should have mentioned before, it will be a clothe wet with the water, not the water alone, and said clothe will be wrapped around the incision site, and pressure will be applied to, in essence, squeeze the majority of the poison out.
  107.
  108. It will be impossible to remove it all, but the body is powerful, and were this a lethal, or even majorly damaging poison, the patient would be in far more dire straits than an arm in pain.
  109.
  110. The goal is to take steps to allow the body to heal, not to entirely heal the body. That is, in almost all severe cases- such as this, or broken bones- the goal we reach for."
  111.
  112. Even though she is about to be performing an operation, it seems the woman is treating this as a lecture just as much as true medical work.
  113.
  114. Taking a moment now, she pulls a clean clothe from the bedside table, and places it in the basin, before looking to Zachary, and holding out a dry clothe, and small glass filled with something that smells vaguely alcoholic. "Drink that, then put the clothe in your mouth and bite down on it. The alcohol will help numb the pain, the cloth will make sure you don't accidentally bite your tongue off."
  115.
  116. Now, thirdly, to Elizabeth. "I'll need you to be ready to hand me another clothe, and also be ready to hold him down in-case he begins thrashing. That is the same for all present, truthfully. Though he should be fine, it is prudent to be prepared."
  117.
  118. With Zach sitting on the bed, she takes the warm-wetted clothe and prepares to begin the incision on his arm- only a glance given to the pair of newcomers as she waits for the injured man to drink, and lie back. "If any of you have further questions, now is the time."
  119. (Blaire Laeknir)
  120. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  121.
  122. [00:25] Elizabeth gathered another couple of clothes from the stand beside the bed. She also took a few steps around Sain so that she was now at the foot of the bed. Ready to act as needed, when needed.
  123. (Elizabeth Wayne)
  124. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  125.
  126. [00:28] The blue hues glanced upon the glass filled with an uneasy smelling alcohol before he speak it out towards the doctor, the one working on the healing.
  127.
  128. "If ya' say so, I'll drink anythang ta' make ma' recova' again."
  129.
  130. The mask covering his face was removed from it, allowing some of the steps to happen since it was a full-face mask rather than a half-face one.
  131.
  132. Whether the alcoholic liquid was something related to Lax Essence or not, as long as it is something that'll help easing the pain - Zachary would indeed obtain the glass, chugging the whole alcohol down.
  133.
  134. "Now fa' tha' tongue bitin' prevention."
  135.
  136. After finishing the part of drinking the whole alcoholic water down, he'd proceed with the cloth - Placing it between his upper and lower teeth after making through the lips, biting them down.
  137.
  138. The left hand of Zachary formed up a thumbs up, telling them to proceed with the surgery process to get rid of the nasty poison out of his body.
  139. (Zachary Drake)
  140. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  141.
  142. [00:33] There was but a momentary distraction from the surgery taking place before him. His gaze shifting towards the Knights Solenne. He'd raise a hand to them, signifying for silence at the moment. He was unsure what exactly the two of them had need of but by the way Adrielle had taken position's beside him he'd assumed it was for him.
  143.
  144. His attention swirled back upon Blaire as they answered the previous question. There was a tilt to his head as he listened as if pondering what was said. Mixing it in his mind to break apart and digest into it's base components. Committing the words to memory, committing the sight of the commoners injury to memory.
  145.
  146. A hand came to cup his chin, his index finger idly tapping upon his lips. It was clear now that she'd pointed it out. The poison slightly discolored the vein in which it'd been inserted. No doubt it was the body's way of protecting itself from the injury. That gaze looked at the larger picture and could see the contraction of his arm. No doubt his muscles where tightening up to stem the tide of taint.
  147.
  148. Of course it started to make sense both with it beign pointed out and the words spoken. The water relaxed the muscles and the incision allowed the veins to pump the poison out of the body. Simple and effective use of the body's natural abilities. It was but moments later that her words confirmed his thoughts, of course the exact means of how to do so where also noted.
  149.
  150. So, it was all about giving the body a shot at healing itself? Made sense considering the nature of the injury. Idly he pondered if a water mage could fix the issue better. He'd remain silent as he watched the patient drink the numbing agent and take precautions for his own safety from himself. His eyes glanced back to Blaire as she asked if there was further questions.
  151.
  152. Returning to his normal posture, his hands coming to clasp behind his back. His words where spoken evenly as after the man named Zachary had his chance to speak. "I've no more questions, your instruction on this matter where transparent and intelligible."
  153.
  154. After he'd spoken he shifted his focus slightly, looking to the Knights. "Sirs Solenne, have you perhaps found that ruffian who assaulted my cousin's aides?"
  155. (Claude vey Pelleaux)
  156. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  157.
  158. [00:38] Adrielle sighed a bit, shaking his head.
  159.
  160. "Unfortunately it went south my Lord. We located him and detained him for questioning - unfortunately he told a one sided story on how the situation went and several agreed. The investigation is ongoing but we'll need those who witnessed it to attest on Lady Sofia's behalf before we can proceed with any sentencing."
  161.
  162. He didn't enjoy baring bad news for his Lord, but he certainly wouldn't lie to him about the situation.
  163. (Adrielle Solenne)
  164. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  165.
  166. [00:43] Claude maintained an even tempered expression but it was clear from the slightest of turns of his lips downwards that the answer was less than pleasing. Though he would wave a hand towards Adrielle as if dismissing the issue.
  167.
  168. "You've done your duty it is up to the justice system to see such scoundrel's are punished. Was there anything else you needed to tell me?"
  169.
  170. It was clear he'd become accustomed to multiple things taking his attention at once. So, he hoped that his multi-layer conversations didn't offend anyone present.
  171. (Claude vey Pelleaux)
  172. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  173.
  174. [00:45] Adrielle shook his head.
  175.
  176. "No sir, we'll be off now." he concluded with a formal bow.
  177.
  178. "Best of luck to you my Lord."
  179. (Adrielle Solenne)
  180. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  181.
  182. [00:52] A single nod is given towards Claude, and now that Zachary has followed her instructions and lied back, the Blaire proceeds with the operation.
  183.
  184. The cloth is rubbed over his arm, and set aside as she presses her scalpel to flesh, alternate hand firmly holding down the limb. In a smooth, deliberate motion, a long incision across Zach's arm is made- which, thanks to the alcohol, is numbed- but it still hurts like Helheim.
  185.
  186. As the incision is made, blood seeps out- dark, dark red, and slightly viscous. Many who have seen blood would realize it is far darker than it readily should be. Yet, it remains locked mostly in place within the seeming barrier of water.
  187.
  188. The incision is completed- ideally with Zachary having not thrashed much, or at all, and scalpel is placed aside.
  189.
  190. Another glance is given, back towards the knights and Claude, with a notable glare implying silence, before turning back to the task at hand. Hot cloth re-taken, she presses it to the wound, and-
  191.
  192. -she squeezes. This, certainly, would elicit even more pain, and quickly it becomes stained with that darkened, tainted blood. Though despite her focus, she takes a moment to direct attention somewhere. "Watch the colour of his blood."
  193.
  194. Once the first cloth has become thoroughly soaked with ichor, it is placed in a nearby basin, and another is taken from the prepared hot water bowl. This process repeats itself a number of times, with the blood slowly, gradually lightening in colour, poison quite literally having been pressed from his limb.
  195.
  196. The collection of bloodied fabric is placed aside, and she looks back up to Claude. "Did you see what happened to his blood? As the poison was removed, more and more fresh blood flowed into the wounded area. There's still an amount of the poison- but now it shouldn't be so much as to fester and infect. I'm now going to stitch the wound, before bandaging it. Any questions so far?"
  197.
  198. While waiting for questions, just as before, she prepares herself for the next step, threading sutures through a needle and applying some alcohol to a clean rag.
  199. (Blaire Laeknir)
  200. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  201.
  202. [01:00] It all took the matter of three, two, one countdown to prepare for the incision's pain that came along - Even though the alcohol numbed it down it wasn't going to suppress the pain by a hundred percent.
  203.
  204. His body sure did twitch a bit as it came - The expression on his face fighting against the pain can be seen with the sweat running down his forehead and muffled grunts coming out of the cloth covering his mouth.
  205.
  206. The ooze of poison mixed with his blood were flowing outside through the incision, hence causing the risk of an extreme blood loss due to this primitive procedure - only if someone had invented anti-poison medicines early.
  207.
  208. As the poison seeps out of the opening, the amount of red, boiling blood of the fire magi began to show its' presence as it escapes after the poison are drained out.
  209.
  210. The amount of fresh blood indeed escaped along with the rest after the doctor applied more pressure to its' flow.
  211.
  212. It wasn't long after the opening was covered by a hot cloth - causing more and more pain to come, gladly Zachary did not kick the doctor off the table on the dominance of his self-control.
  213.
  214. And soon, it was done - He calmed down at the sight of a slight pale look on his face, those Crellus are gonna pay in the future for what they got him through, a world full of pain.
  215.
  216. He just hope that there won't be a more painful procedure after the last one.
  217. (Zachary Drake)
  218. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  219.
  220. [01:04] Truth be told he was used to interruptions in all things he did. It was just the nature of his station. It was one of the reasons he'd joined the Fraternity, a thumb rolled over the cloak ring upon his left hand. Then his attention shifted back to Blaire. Oh, she wasn't happy at all about that interruption. An incredulous smile was offered in return to the glare.
  221.
  222. Yet, with his attention fully demanded by the woman once more he'd focus upon the man's arm. Taking a step closer to get a better view. Though he remained stiff as he watched, by this time he'd unclasped his hands and opted to settle a hand upon his chin. His attention given to the way in which the incision was made. So, it was best to go in an even straight, even motion? Not to dissimilar to utilizing a sword in truth.
  223.
  224. Though is thoughts of connecting the medical arts with those of the martial his attention was given to the tainted blood. It truly was a strange sight, the blood wasn't natural hues of red anymore of that much was easily seen. A frown touched his features a this, the blood was certainly a disgusting sight. His attention flicked back up to Blaire as they spoke.
  225.
  226. "Yes, I saw it. Without the deal taint of poison and the contraction of muscle it made sense for fresh blood to fill the area. Is it best to keep the cut shallow so as to avoid exsanguination of the patient?" He doubted it would be easily done considering the are the cut was made but causing someont to bleed to-death certainly wasn't his desire.
  227.
  228. His attention followed the motions in which she'd prepare the thread and needled. Tools he'd rarely touched, after all he never fashioned his own clothing. Yet, he couldn't help but marvel that a tool made to cover the body in beauty could also be used to piece it back together.
  229.
  230. "He's taking it like a champ, I wonder if a weaker willed man would end up killing himself struggling against aid." It was spoken aloud but the thought was easily a compliment to the stout commoner. Though as he watched them throughout their struggles to maintain their composure he'd shift to Blaire. "If you've need of extra hands, you've but to request them."
  231.
  232.
  233.
  234. (Claude vey Pelleaux)
  235. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  236.
  237. [01:12] Fortunately for Zach, while he had certainly lost a deal of blood, he was never in any true danger- the incision was so shallow that when there wasn't pressure on it, only a trickle of blood leaked out.
  238.
  239. Needle and sutures prepared, she sets them aside and wipes the wound with the alcohol-covered cloth. Which, of course, stung. Relatively lightly, compared to him being cut open and bled. "Yes. In situations you need to just remove blood- which, really, is only for circumstances like this- a shallow, thin incision is best. It helps limit the blood flow out, until you want the blood to flow out.
  240.
  241. Had I intended to, say, fix a broken bone, I would have made two additional incisions- one along each side, perpendicular to the original line. In the shape of a capital 'I'. Then I would have pulled the skin back."
  242.
  243. Still a lecture, it seems. With his offer to assist, she gives him a raised eyebrow, and a nod. "I assume you know how to properly tie a bandage? Please take that gauze, there, and get ready to tie one once I have stitched the incision shut."
  244.
  245. Not a word more is said to him, for the time. The needle is pressed to Zachary's flesh, and the doctor goes to work cross-stitching his arm shut in silence, giving Claude time to prepare himself for bandaging the operation site.
  246. (Blaire Laeknir)
  247. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  248.
  249. [01:20] The sting of the needle only gave a twitch on his eyes other than the whole body of his when it was cut open, a man's got to have to feel pain to make them grow stronger eventually.
  250.
  251. At the mentioning of more incisions if his bones were the ones inflicted injuries upon made him feel rather uneasy around this particular doctor, someone who uses sharp objects and stuff.
  252.
  253. The cloth over his mouth was spat out to allow him to speak, to make a reply towards the doctor in charge.
  254.
  255. "Tha' was a partial of Helheim ta' be goin' through.
  256.
  257. I'm assumin' we're don' afta' tis'?
  258.
  259. I hope tis' one be tha' conclusion, no mo' blood drainin'."
  260.
  261. He made that comment off while still being treated by the people involved who are responsible for his recovery.
  262. (Zachary Drake)
  263. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  264.
  265. [01:23] * You have been awarded 5 Roleplay Points! *
  266. [01:24] Idly tapping his lips with his index finger the man simply observed the procedure as it was being done. Taking in the words as well as the sights with the relative ease of a scholar. Alcohol to keep the are clean when working, oh keep it shallow if you need to remove blood. If it's a bone that needs mened the capital 'I' is the way to go. Though at the thought of peeling someone's skin the noble looked up. So it was like skinning an animal? He'd seen his father skin a few in his time, the only thing the man did well as far as he'd seen.
  267.
  268. "Interesting, I think I understand." As she asked about the bandage he'd pick up the gauze, unraveling it just slightly so it'd be easily administered to the patients arm. "Yes, I can tie a bandage well enough." As he spoke he'd give Zachary he'd give a slight shrug. He wasn't sure if this was the end or not but he couldn't imagine what else might bedone. Better to give an uncertain answer than a direct one and be wrong.
  269.
  270. As soon as the stitching was finished the Nobleman moved swiftly, unraveling the roll of gauze and wrapping it about the wound swiftly. Around the arm it went, several tight loops binding the injury and helping to slow bloodflow. He figured that if ti was a bit tight it would give the wound a chance to clot. Though once the roll was set up he took a step back, giving Blaire space.
  271. (Claude vey Pelleaux)
  272. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  273.
  274. [01:36] The stitch is finished quickly, the doctor severing then tying off the suture with a swift motion, before gesturing Claude move in to bandage the arm.
  275.
  276. As he does, she gives a slight shake of her head at is efforts, before reaching in to re-bind the wound. "When bandaging an injury, you want it snug, and pressed close to the skin, but not so tight as to truly limit the flow of blood. Binding the area too tight will limit, or prevent circulation, which can be a major health risk.
  277.
  278. Unless, of course, you are creating a tourniquet- a tourniquet being a tight binding used to prevent blood flow. Examples when this would be used would be during an amputation, or if an artery has been cut open."
  279.
  280. With the bandage re-done, Claude would be able to see the slight differences- they were both done nearly the same, except Blaire's didn't squeeze down much against Zach's skin.
  281.
  282. Now responding to Zach, finally, she nods. "Yes, not to worry. Weare done, though I'll need to ask you rest here for a day to allow the wound time to set and heal. Acolytes will be here to help you, should you need assistance during your stay here.
  283.
  284. Ah, and, this is, of course, free of charge. It is a service of the church."
  285.
  286. This all said, and the wound properly secured and bandaged, the doctor stands and begins to put away her various tools, setting the used ones aside and directing a number of acolytes over to clean the area.
  287.
  288. "Now, we will be leaving you here to rest. You'll be free to leave tomorrow."
  289.
  290. There is a certain sternness to her tone that implies it potentially unwise to try leaving before that time.
  291.
  292. A glance to Claude, and she adds something. "If you've any more questions, ask them after we've exited the room."
  293. (Blaire Laeknir)

  295.
  296. [01:42] The correction to the binding was noted. He seemed the slightest bit taken aback at the mistake. Even if it wasn't something he'd have truly known it annoyed the Pelleaux regardless. After all mistakes weren't something to be made lightly. His attention seemed to narrow, latching on the display of proper technique and the words being spoken.
  297.
  298. "Understood, such a mistake won't be made again."
  299.
  300. As she explained, in a rather fierce manner he noted. What was expected of the man for his own health Claude returned his hand... Ah, he noticed they weren't truly clean after handling the gauze. After all it was dangerous to keep blood or viscera upon your person. So, he'd stride to a nearby basin and wash his hands evenly. Drying them himself before clasping them behind his back. His head tilted in the direction of the Rector, listening to their order.
  301.
  302. "Of course Rector Laeknir."
  303.
  304. As he spoke he'd take a step to the side. Awaiting the woman's own move to leave. He didn't have anything on his mind at that moment. Then he remembered his reason for visiting and smirked.
  305.
  306. Well the Hierofphant's Shrine could wait it seemed.
  307. (Claude vey Pelleaux)
