Had an odd dream- one of the full narrative sorts.

Artell: Oh?

me: Yeah.
10:16 AM
Large family- and I guess this is out west, 1800s or so, and they're prosperous enough to have a great deal of influence, a massive amount over the town.

Artell: Like Bonanza or something?

me: The patriarch of the family has recently passed away, leaving the two oldest brothers-twins- now in charge of the family.

Artell: And you were a complete observer in this, or?
10:19 AM
me: Outside watcher.

Y'know how that happens in dreams sometimes, right?

Artell: Yes, I do.
10:22 AM
me: Anyhow, so, things go well for a short time, then the younger brother begins to be acting somewhat strange. He is, however, at the same time, increasing the family's prosperity and influence. He's even set up a charity in their father's name. The older brother is becoming jealous and suspicious.

The rest of their siblings, not so much.

So, things remain this way for quite a time, several years.

The older twin begins to drink heavily, to the point of becoming an alcoholic.

The younger twin, however, does not appear to be aging.
10:30 AM
This, much of the family concludes, is because he's taking care of himself- twins cannot be expected to look the same, after all, when one is taking care of themselves extremely poorly.

The older brother does not believe this, in his jealous mind.
10:34 AM
Time goes by, and the older brother, while in drunken haze one night, heads into the cellar to find something to drink.

He heads to the wrong crate, however, and, upon returning to the house, discovers the bottle he opened is filled with blood.

He returns to the cellar, in horror and disgust, and finds his twin next to the crate, drinking from one of those bottles.

me: He flees, and fortunately, is not noticed.

Artell: And then?

me: Shaken by this turn of events, the brother gives up drinking altogether.

Artell: Oh my.

me: Instead, dedicating his time to learning what sort of monster has replaced his twin.

He discovers the answer- a vampire.

With this knowledge in mind, he gathers the family up in the parlor, and announces his discovery.

Everyone but his brother, of course.

He has discovered when he goes down to the cellar to drink, and purposefully timed when he gathered everyone to convene with that time.

He is met with no fear, no horror, no shock.

He asks them why they are not afraid, because their brother is a monster, a disgrace,, inhuman.

His eldest sister, who was visiting from her own family, responds, telling him that it is not his twin that is the monster, the disgrace, but him.

Who wanders the town drunk, wasting the family's money, treating everyone and anything around him poorly.

He rises into a fury, and with his pistol, shoots them all, before they can leave, before they can escape.

me: The sound of shooting is heard- in the cellar, and outside in the town, coming from the house.

The man rushes outside, and padlocks the cellar door, and, with horses, pulls a large boulder over what is the only entrance- and exit.

And then he gets discovered by the local law enforcement and is taken in and is hung the following week for murdering everyone else in is family.
