  1. "Yes, I know what a Druid is. Do I look stupid?" The hag looked back with a blank expression, prompting Lian to fill the silence "Alright...yes I know what a Druid is."
  2.
  3. "So then, you know of their belief in reincarnation?"
  4.
  5. "Uh, sure? I mean I didn't really know any personally but I had some give me a stern lecture on why wood is better than metal."
  6.
  7. Titchwillow sighed, sitting in front of Lian with her legs splayed enough that he could see more of the hag's childlike disguise than he really felt comfortable with. He looked over to Jashae to see if she was okay with this display, her face telling him she wasn't. Angry sex with the dragon didn't sound like the most pleasant time for his less than muscular frame, so he opted to keep his eyes above her waist.
  8.
  9. "The Druids believe in reincarnation. That souls never pass into the stars, that they simply rebirth. That's bullshit. Well, almost entirely bullshit, though it is true they have magics to keep a soul from passing on while it still clings to the coils of life."
  10.
  11. "Okay?" Lian asked, wondering why he had to sit in the woods, probably staining the only pair of pants he had on him to hear about Druids that were back on a plane of reality he'd much rather be on right now. "And your point?"
  12.
  13. "When those souls are granted their new body, they pass through a part of this realm, through the protoworld of the Fey. It is an odd part of the cycle the Druids, unknowingly, abuse to have the souls return instead of passing on. All the power of necromancy without the skin rotting and soul destruction." Titchwillow smiled. "That is our key. That area has the thinnest line between your reality and this one. It is there we can have the worlds come crashing together. Of course, I don't expect you to obey us for nothing. We could kill you, but you're cunning, I'm sure. You did get this one to fall for you." Jashae sneered at the comment. "Hehe, charming. No, I we will reward you. We can give you back something lost to you." Out of nowhere the visages of Lian's adoptive elven parents sat briefly beside her, before fading like a puff of smoke into nothingness. "So be good and do your part."
  14.
  15. With that the old hag stood up, adjusting the lurid underwear she wore as her only form of clothing before walking away. Jashae looked at her husband before whispering to him "I know very little of these creatures, but it is plain to me they have no honor. Do not trust their offers to you, they'd as soon dispose of us both than give us anything." Lian sighed. He looked up to the sky, sunless and yet bright blue. The hags said it was a long way yet to their destination, and who knows what awaited him when he finally arrived.
