14. The entry to Elisheba's domain is guarded by two statues known as Hagar and Rafa. They are perfectly rendered in the form of guardian dragons. At the foot of the left statue is a line of script reading The Lady of the Rising Sun in no known language of dragonkind. You see, the Lady is no dragon at all.
15.
16. She was once formless -- except that's not entirely right. She was once many-formed, capable of taking as many forms as there are days in an immortal's life. She lived in the Hewn City, before it became Hewn, and moved from statue to mosaic to relief to statue again as she willed. When the Shade came, she embraced it for the gift of a thousand forms more, and for her efforts she was cast out of the now-Hewn City.
17.
18. It was Elisheba who gave her form again. It was only one, but it was finely crafted, and looked like a living thing, and Hagar was pleased. Elisheba promised more forms, when the Hewn City became Her City, and Hagar was content to serve one-formed for the interim.
19.
20. Hagar does not move in her statue -- at least, not when anyone can see her. She needs only a blink, a turn of the head, before she can spring: first one place, then another. Intruders swiftly learn that there is no place they can run to escape the Lady's jaws.
