- It had certainly happened to the first Butcher - he had picked up Lancet by the throat and stopped to gloat, trusting that there was nothing that someone whose only power was the ability to see blood veins through walls could do to hurt him. He was right, but what he hadn't known was that Lancet, who had named himself after a medieval bloodletting tool, had had a second power; the ability to cause blood to seep through skin in an area that he touched. Butcher had bled to death without a mark on his skin, and Lancet had gained his powers.
