52. After being shot, Tom wakes from a coma to discover that fragments of his smart phone have been embedded in his head, and worse, that returning to normal teenage life is impossible because he has developed a strange set of superpowers.
 53. After being shot while calling for help trying to stop a violent attack on his high school girl, a 16 year old boy awakens from a coma to discover that fragments of his smart phone have embedded in his brain, giving him superhero powers. He uses this knowledge and technology to exact revenge on the gang responsible for the attack.
 54. The premise of the film was brilliant. I liked the idea, the motivation, the characters. But when it came to the resolution, it all fizzled. It's the classic "boy protects girl from bad guy", but when push comes to shove, all good characters get really wimpy. Perhaps it's a British thing, I don't know.

There were also some weird situations in which one solution could have solved several problems, but they were used only for one. Several things that got the henchman, for example, were never used on the final boss.

Bottom line: it was a great premise that got suffocated by clichés, even while attempting to be original. I would call that a failure.
 55. Apart from the overriding premise, which is obviously far-fetched, this film is great. I suppose if you treat it as a superhero film it's equally as believable as being bitten by radioactive spiders or other such silliness. But the setting and concept within which the story exists is very realistic.

But it's a decent story and well acted and the direction, cinematography, and editing are top notch.

The acting is good - by everyone. It surprised me in such a relatively low budget film but perhaps it shouldn't - in all countries there is a lot of acting talent and some film-makers are starting to bring it to the fore..

The only flaw I found was in casting - even though she may well be old enough to be the grandmother, she looks too young. I looked it up and it's quite possible. She is a great actress but maybe they could have made her look mid-60s instead of mid-50s. They needed to age her to look her age in my opinion. Kudos to Ms. Richardson.

It's quite sad that so many non-UK folk (in their reviews) have to liken the film to other films about estates in a British town. That's like saying every film that is set in New York is the same. But people outside the UK obviously don't see urban Britain in films very often - so perhaps I understand. This film is, as at least one other has stated, a bit like a superhero version of the computer game WatchDogs. The concept is similar.

Well worth watching and is currently (at time of this review) on Netflix so give it a go.
 56. iBoy’ is a sparky film, embedded in London’s cheek-by-jowl world of wealth and poverty. It’s also a dark teen drama, peppered with brutal beatings, gang rape, drugs and dead bodies.
