- >This time, you stir as you wake up, and there is no pain
- >With a flex of your arms, the cocoon surrounding your body cracks
- >You push against the cocoon that has held you for who knows how long
- >Slowly, the structure dries out, and cracks apart, crumbling off you
- >You try to stand, but you do it far too quickly
- >Blood rush away from your head, and you shove a hand to the wall to stabilize yourself
- >You feel something smooth in response
- >When your vision finally returns, you can see that the wall is indeed made of some sort of black, smooth material
- >Even though you're out of your "bed" and no longer felt pain upon movement, you're still weak
- >Reaching a hand to your stomach, you wonder why you haven't felt hungry
- >At the same time, you feel something... else
- >Chitin
- >It has to be, it's like an exoskeleton armor
- >It's growing on you like a second skin
- >Growing, because you can feel thin patterns forming out from the center mass of it
- >About half of your body has this stuff
- >Some of your arms, legs, and torso
- >...
- >What got hit the hardest from the explosion...
- >Now that you've been standing, body awareness has officially returned in full
- >You feel different
- >New, in a sense
- >It also finally hits you that your shirt is missing, and your shorts are tattered
- >You start wondering where your shirt went, but are interrupted
- I see you're up, "Human"
- >It's the queen
- >Last time you spoke, she sounded suspicious
- >Like you could be a threat, or a risk
- >Consequences be damned, you have to know
- >You just hope she doesn't react badly, because from the looks of things, it may not end well for you
- Why did you keep me here; alive?
- >For the briefest second, you see a range of emotion and reaction flash across her face
- >Long story short, your question threw her off
- >She wasn't expecting it
- >That split second reveals to you that she might not be as bad as she looks
- >So you relax a little
- >But that instant is now past, and she retains an authoritative stance
- It has been said that you defeated the mightiest wild creature from the everfree- the hydra.
- >You nod slightly, remembering that Wesley had mentioned that he spoke for you
- >The barest hint of emotions cross her face again
- >But this time, you were looking her in the eyes, and they showed it all
- >Just like Wesley, she was struggling against herself, to maintain an image
- The ponies there...
- >She glances around, lowering her voice, and filling it with genuine concern
- Don't take kindly to other species. Particularly when proven capable of violence
- >Footst- or are they hoofsteps? approach
- >Chrysalis's voice rises again and reclaims its regality
- I spared your life because the power you possess can be of use to us
- >You resist the urge to smirk at her behavior
- >Wesley comes around a corner and into the room
- Yes, my queen?
- >He states, standing at attention
- You may take him to his quarters
- >Wesley obeys in silence as he motions for you to follow him
- >He takes you through an impossibly complex maze of passageways before stopping at a door
- >He pushes the handle down and swings it open, motioning for you to step inside
- >You do, and can see all the furnishings of a regular bedroom
- >A bed, nightstand, a large mirror, a clock, and a doorway to what looks like a bathroom
- >The clock reads 5:13
- >You turn around to thank Wesley, but he's gone
- >You walk to the bed, and see a note on top of the sheets
- Anon, dinner is in another couple hours
- Be sure to come, you are expected
- >Hastily scribbled below;
- Directions on back
- >You flip the paper over, and sure enough, you find a rough sketch of what looks like a maze of passageways, with a relatively simple rout highlighted
- >You assume it leads to the dining area
- >It looks like your current location is marked with an x
- >After making sure it won't fall out of your pocket, you place the map in one and make your way to the mirror
- >Now you can see that the right half of your body took the worst of it
- >Half your jaw was chitin, and even your left eye was green, now standing in stark contrast to your blue eye
- >After some experimentation with expressions, you discover that it can widen or shrink from circles to slits
- >Moving on, you examine your chest
- >On the left side, a huge portion is black chitin, making that side of your body mostly covered
- >You imagine what you must have looked like before it grew in
- >You flinch
- >You had to have half your left side missing, plus some of your right
- >In total, you can now tell you had sustained injury to almost all your left torso, the upper half of your left leg, the upper half of your right, your right forearm, and it would seem your entire left hand
- >Each of these areas doesn't have skin, just slick black chitin that connected to the skin with much thinner black veins
- >You would wonder for a moment why you didn't notice earlier, but dismiss it as being right handed
- >Self analysis over, you lay down on the bed, staring at the clock
- >You let your mind wonder to other things as you wait
- >Like what use you would have here, and what would have become of you otherwise
