"It's because Roman Empire collapsed which leads to the notions of "kingdom" and then "nation" state, which leads to democrazy (two-party dictatorship aka illusion of freedom), while the other parts of the world only required "Authoritarian" (one-party system) to run its empire. You get smaller and smaller empires. And the Europeans hated each others so you get "independence" - breaking away from the larger empire. Kosovo (a pretty useless/weak country) was the last one to get... if I recall correctly. That pretty much sums up the so called "freedom" in the West. That was "the birth of modern democrazy", its history and roots. It's absolutely opposite to China.
