The Missing Chao - Chapter 14

Sonic laid on the raft in exhaustion, "Any islands nearby?"

Tails pulled down his binoculars, "I can't find any."

"Well then, we'll just have to sleep on this raft and hope to not be a shark's piece of candy."

Cream groaned like a spoiled child, "I feel like this will take forever to cross this mighty ocean!"

Suddenly, a crumb of land jumped up onto the ocean lining.

"An island!" Sonic hollered. "Let's rest there." He hopped off, grasped onto the raft, and forced it towards the small, sandy island.

Everyone gazed upwards, the island had a tiny field of palm trees and a coast around it, it was roughly the size of the biggest pizza in the world. Team Ring stood up onto heir pads of their feet (with the exception of Forest since he's a Chao) and strutted onto the piece of land. Knuckles tugged the raft onto the land so it wouldn't float away like a rubber duck.

"How are we gonna get food on this 'abandoned lifeboat'?" Amy growled. "There's no supermarket here."

Tails pointed to the ground, "Crabs! They could be meat!"

Everyone looked down and spotted red crabs crawling over the grains with their little feet. Cream wandered backwards in fright. Knuckles lifted a rock and hurled it towards a crab. The crustacean was now only bits of shell and a pile of mush.

"What about water?" Amy yowled.

"We have bottles of fresh, drinking water," Sonic responded to his girlfriend. "No need to worry, you can live 3 days without water."

"Shelter?"

"We can sleep under the twinkling crisp stars."

"Fine enough, Sonikku."

Forest suggested an idea, "We can eat insects!"

"EWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!" everyone else pouted like a broccoli hater.

"Don't be afraid, people have been snacking on insects for CENTURIES. Also, your animal ancestors dined on insects"

"I chose not to," Knuckles retorted. "Seafood is yummy." The red 'chinda scooped up crab meat mush in his boxing gloves.

"Have a pot!" Cream handed Knux an iron pot for himself to dump the meat in.

"Also have a camper's stove, with batteries inside," Tails lent what he said.

Knuckles dropped the meat into the pot, settled it onto the stove, and turned it on. The mush crackled like static electricity and steam escaped.

Sonic sniffed the steam, "Man, my stomach is growling."

As the sun boiled the Earth, Amy hid behing several palm trees in order to change into her bikini and then came out. She laid on the crispy sand and absorbed the ultraviolet rays.

"The crab meat is ready!" Knuckles announced as he lifted up the pot filled with cooked meat.

"My body has been never more than ready!" Sonic immediately licked his lips.

Tails tugged out 6 bowls and spoons, filled each bowl with mouth-watering meat, stuck a spoon in each, and handed the bowls to each member, including intelligent himself.

"Delicious!" Forest gobbled up a cup of crab meat. "Never had I eaten seafood this delicious!"

"Mr. Forest," Cream asked as she nibbled bit by bit, "have you ever eaten seafood before?"

"I've only eaten a little bit of seafood in my whole entire lifetime. Sometimes, my wife and I would head to a coastal area and fish for fish with a twig and fruit. Also, we would collect clams to mash up and serve with fish. The ocean doesn't matter really much to us, we would father fish from a river."

"Interesting. My mother simply buys fish from a market."

"Remember," Sonic gave his advice as if he was doing a "Sonic Says" thing, "don't go out to the open ocean. You could get eaten by a shark or stung by a jellyfish! I apologize if I scared anyone."

Cream shivered in fear for a while as if she was suck in the North Pole.

Sun still struck the island as Sonic strummed a tune on his ukulele. Tails, Knuckles, and the other folks sat around him dazed by the lovely melody of strums and clicks. Seagulls, with wings long as a yardstick, soared by and crabs, ready to be eaten, c
